  1. So basically the ip camera back feeds itself thru the network to record onto the hybrid dvr?? I'm thinking this will also be a good time to purchase a new router. The linkys router i have is a WRT54G2 and right now we have 2 laptops, one desktop and direct tv hooked to it all.Dunno if when i add the cctv to it if they'll be problems.
  2. I sorta understand Soundy.I'm going to be using a EH1008.I read thru the manual and couldn't understand it for the life of me.I've been online looking for some sort of drawing to better help me see it with my own eyes ya know. The dvr will be connected to my network and the poe switch i'm using has 4 poe ports and 4 non poe ports. So basically it'll be 6 analog cameras > dvr > dvr internet connection to non poe port on switch then switch to wireless router .Then 1 ipcam straight to poe port on switch..

What's the difference between VGA and HDMI?

The Qvis Apollo HD dvr's have hdmi, and the picture on an hd tv is supposed to be pretty good compared to a standard video out or vga on a regular dvr.
  4. Hey Rory if you have a moment could you send me a pm, i have a question for you..
  5. I understand there are many different ways to go about it,i just like to get a professional opinion on things because i know nothing about it.So as i continue on my learning journey, the first place i come to is here where a lot of cctv professionals are.
  6. Good thing this is possible.Setup has dvr in attic, feed hd tv in living room and in master bedroom with an hdmi splitter and control everything thru network..
  7. So i plan on installing a dvr in the attic in a lockbox and have the dvr connected to the network in the house thru the router.I know i can view the dvr on the network, but my question is this.Since i wouldn't want to go up into the attic to burn the footage onto a thumbdrive, could i log into the dvr on the laptop, insert a thumbdrive into my laptop and copy the footage that way without ever having to physically go the actual dvr?

    Camera Location, Resolution, and Quality

Exactly what cameras are you using?
  9. Financially speaking, which non-ir camera would be better suited for this location?Need a camera to install about 12-15' high under lip of roof gable overlooking front yard as an general area camera.Don't need ir due to street light in front along with garage lights from my garage and neighbors garage.Should the camera have an ICR filter?
  10. So how much would one of these run me?This one looks good http://www.ktnc.co.kr/english/viewtopic.php?t=938

    Some pics from the cameras

Why is it that the views look sorta unclear? Is that just due to cameras not being totally focused, dvr,or what?

    QVIS cameras IR Cut Filter

Well finally got an e-mail back from QVIS.This camera does not have an IR Cut Filter.Make me wonder how well the camera performs without one...
  14. There is a cctv camera company that has vandal proof domes that have a flashing strobe led in them, but i can't remember who .

    new residential system recomendations

We would need to know what your camera and dvr budget are.I see you want to be able to get license plate identification. Is this just to get a picture of a vehicle that turns into your driveway?License plate cameras have a very specific need because they need to cut thru the headlight glare at night to read the plate.I'm in Ga where front plates aren't issued or what if they remove their plate so that you can't get it.Think like a thief to layout your system and it's requirements.
  16. Any of you guys besides Mike @ Shoreview offer a complete 4 camera ir/varifocal/dvr system for my home?I was set to purchase from him,but he hasn't been around so i need to search for a complete package again.
  17. I was looking at the CNB VBM-24VF outdoor dome.Seems like a really good camera at a great price.
  18. I see that the 599 is a highly praised camera.I checked it out and was wondering how good of a view can you get with it only being 420tvl?
  19. Anyone able to get in touch with Mike yet?
  20. Thanks for the warm welcome
  21. LTS LTCMD708W IR Domes. You can buy them from Mike at Shoreview. Mods wont let me post a link to his site though, even though I'm obv not a spammer, and am just replying to your question. i am the admin of a forum myself, and with all-due respect... you guys kill me with that I'm going to be returning from Afghanistan to do my cctv 4 camera system, but can't get in contact with Mike who i was supposed to buy the system from.Guess i'll have to find another supplier to buy my complete system from.
  22. I was wondering if any of you installers that do residential work use these types of wall plates when you bring all you siamese camera cables out of the wall? http://www.parts-express.com/wizards/searchResults.cfm?srchExt=CAT&srchCat=948 Since i'm runnin eight cameras along with one into three video outs,i thought that a low voltage mounting bracket along with bulk cable wall plate would be my best bet when i bring all my cables out of the wall.
