I'm looking for a list of tools i will need to start doing my own home security/cctv installs.I'm an electrician so i have a bunch already.What i'm looking for are specifics like this particular kit http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_03460042000P?vName=Tools&cName=Electrical+Shop&sName=Electrical+Tools+%26+Accessories I've already done my own Ademco Vista 20P home security install and i've been bitin by the bug to do more and expand my knowledge.Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ain't that the truth.I would of rather spent a lil more,if you have it and got a better camera that would last longer,but only if you can afford it.

I tell any prospective clients my bottom line."This is what it's gonna cost,and this is what you get.If you can try and beat it and get another high quality install then congrads."If they wanna try and cry and moan i tell em have a good day.I do not have a problem walking away from a possible job when the owner wants to piss and moan.One of my buddy's did the Lorex special,now he's crying about how not good the system is .

Does your neighbor have a camera style preference between bullet and armored dome?

There are several other things to consider besides just camera prices,such as analog,mp,dvr quality,etc.Depending on your neighbors budget,he can go with an 8 ir varifocal lense system with dvr in a diy conifiguration.Is he going to attempt to install himself or hire a licensed cctv contractor?Do you have any pics of your neighbors residence and the areas he's trying to cover?

Okay,have any of you setup this option for a customer thru their standalone dvr?

Do all dvr's offer a snapshot photo option to be sent to a pda if motion is detected at a designated camera?

Main backup will be on the dvr.Motion backup from priority cams will be sent to FTP backup.

Was just wondering how many of you and your customers prefer dvd backup or thumbdrive backup?

Camera view looks good to me as a "who they hell is that in my driveway" view.Good enough for me to grab the pistol and investigate!

I send all of my customers thru Mike @ Shoreview,so i'm trying to get an idea of FTP requirements so that they don't get to blowing up my phone.He offers 2,4 and 5 gig ftp a year storage plans.

Sounds like some S#%$@ customers!

How much off-site FTP storage do you burn thru per year?
