From my personal perspective.I prefer the armored domes.Take a look at the G4-AD54IR.I just like the the look better.

Why do ir integrated bullets throw longer ir than ir domes?Is it the natural characteristics or is it determined by design?

Nice cobwebs on camera 1 .I think you would do better if you just upgraded your analog cams to all varifocal lense cams with atleast 540tvl.

Remember, one of the benefits of IP is that you don't have to home-run every camera. If, say, all four cameras are on one side of the third floor of the house, and the DVR is on the opposite side of the basement, you can put a switch on the third floor, connect all the cameras to that, then just drop a single cable to the basement for the DVR. Can't you do the same thing with analog cams by using a UTP transciever? Camera all plug into one transceiver,RJ45 from one transceiver to the other,than coax from that transceiver into dvr.

I got some work to do over in Afghanistan and i want to test some cameras out.Do any of you guys have a decent used four channel dvr lying around that has H.264 compression for a decent price?

I was just wondering since the normal colors of cameras are white or black,how many of you get request to paint the cameras to better match the building or home it's being mounted to?

You might not be happy with the look of a grey weatherproof box mounted on top of your brand new stucco.Get with your mason,or buy yourself a masonry router bit and rout out the stucco where the camera mount needs to go.That way you don't have to worry about damaging the wire.Here's an example http://www.toolbank.com/p/C3289/FAIMMR10

Okay cuz i'm looking at buying a barebones kit and adding a 8 camera Geovision card to use for learning about pc based cctv system for residential installs.If i can demo the system good enough,then i'll sell it and build another .

I have my original Dell Dimension 2200 PC that i haven't used in forever.Since it still works i want to use it to dwell into the PC based dvr world.This system will only be for my learning.Here are the specs with the computer the way it was originally built. Windows XP operating system 1.3GHZ Celeron Processor 256MB 20gb Hard drive I know i'll need to upgrade the ram and hard drive.I want to start off with a dvr card to run four cameras.I can't afford to get into ip cams right now so i will use standard cameras.I need help with exactly what starting materials i need.
