CRAP!!!! No one has more features than Geo!!! I hate Geo by the way, they are a bunch of buggers to deal with!! Mate i bet you have not changed your video source, I bet its set to 320x240, so when you blow it up it looks like crud, go to the hammer and screwdriver, find Video Source and change it to 640x480SW and you should see an improvement, do not forget to change it on the recording as well.. fact is resolution and compression affect everything, if you want graet pics then less compressiion is needed, but in CCTV everything is trade off: Larger Resolution= Larger files = less days kept. Less Compression = Clearer Images = Larger Files Cheaper Cameras = Less Resolution = Poorer Quality Faster Shutter= Lower Light = Darker Picture Wider Dynamic Range = More Noise = Less Detail MPEG2= Excellent Detail= Large Files ETC ETC ETC, fact remains... 1/ PC's will always have more features 2/ Standalones have better quality recordings 3/ PC's will achieve faster frame rates 4/ YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!!!!!! This is very good information. Thanks so much CCTV_Australia. BTW, is the upgrade to version 7.0 free of charge? I have just recently purchased the GV-600 card. Can I ask the software from the supplier for free? Do you think they have it?

Not as good. May be about 20% less clear. Don't know what caused the difference. I'm just wonder does this web from G22 represent the general quality of most CCTV using Geovision? Because I realize that if you blow it up to full screen, it is not razer sharp. May I asking too much?

I just feel that my latest CCTV system is very crappy. Within the room that I have installed the samsung camera, I cannot see the face of people walking by very clearly. It is almost as bad as the output of a handphone camera. My system is using the Geovision GV-600. I really don't understand why is this the case. I have taken some snap shot pictures but realized that I cannot attach pic on this forum. Does anyone have a similar Geovision system that doesn't mind me logging on through the internet to take a look? Thanks.

Dear All, This may be a stupid question, pardon me since I'm new to this CCTV thing. How is the CCTV (420line) camera connected to a DVR system in term of resolution and performance compare to a webcam camera? If I just want to setup a remote monitoring through the internet, what is the pro and con of using a DVR (CCTV camera), compare to a simple webcam camera? Thanks.

I have recently installed a GV-600 (6 camera) card to be used for the 6 camera. My question is, if I want to install more camera in the future, do I need to replace the GV-600 (6 camera) card, or is there another way to add more camera?

Help needed: Geovision picture not clear

Wow...megapixel I.P. cams, that sounds interesting. I guess I need to start looking for fiber so that I can run around the whole house. Just a question, does a standalone DVR have better resolution than a PC based system? In the worst case, I just go and buy 6 VCR which is supposed to be very cheap now, and use each VCR for my individual camera. Is this dumb or what? Any better solution? -

DVR_Expert_Australia, Sorry for asking so many questions as I'm a newbie to DVR. So what you are saying is that even if I change to the best monitor display, the picture will not be as good as on a TV due to the digitization of the image and the display of the video card. I'm just wondering if I use a handheld digital camera and switch it on to movie mode, I can record very crystal clear video file. These are digitized image as well. Why can't this happen to DVR? I don't think Frame per second has anything to do with the clarity of the picture right? [/code] -
Help needed: Geovision picture not clear

So are you saying that the problem is on my PC monitor setting? If the setting is correct, then I should be able to see the image as clear as I would see on a TV? -

For my computer, I'm using a flat LCD screen. But still the image is quite poor. Anyway to improve it? Or are you saying it will never be as good as TV screen? I'm sure if I connect the camera to an analog VCR, I can get much better quality than the Geovision. My worry is that eventhough I can see the screen whenever someone walk by, the picture is not so crystal clear that I can tell who it is. This certainly defeat the purpose of theft identification. -
Help needed: Geovision picture not clear

I have recently installed 6 cameras and a Geovision system. The Geovision card I got is the 600, and it is installed in a pentium 4, 2.8GHz system. The problem is, I notice that if I connect the 6 cameras directly to a TV screen, I can see picture much clearly and sharper than if I connect the camera to the Geovision card running the geovision software. Is this normal? I'm not satisfied with the display as the resolution seems to be much worse than if connected to a TV screen. Please advise. Thanks.
