CCTV Equipment Selection Help - IP-PoE-NVR
PsychoMantis replied to fiberzip007's topic in System Design
Yes, HIK Vision has got some good budgetary cameras, have a look at DS-2CD2032-I and DS-7608-NI-XX NVR. -
Dear John, The camera pixel count you are referring to is not it's "effective pixel" count. It is rather sensor pixel count, it has now become a trend to use megapixel sensors in analog cameras, which helps attain better details but doesn't affect the recording resolution. The maximum resolution you can actually record using an analog recorder is 960H or sometimes called WD1 960x480 for NTSC. You'll need a 960H recorder for that. At the end you can only record the resolution your DVR is capabe of.

PICADIS is great! It totally changed my concept of CMOS Sensors. Exceptional colour and detail. Also first of the few to deploy a megapixel sensor into an analog camera. Make sure you go for EXIR Cameras like 2CE16C2P(N)-IT5 I have used this one and it really made a day like but monochrome image in complete dark. Make sure you use 960H DVR with these cameras for best experience, For HIK Vision DS-XXXXHWI-XX

Hello, I'm designing a project for a 15 floor building with control room in the basement. Most floors have 6~8 cameras with a mix of SD and HD resolutions. I want to use a PoE switch that may serve three floors, one floor on which this switch is placed and also one floor above and one floor below. Max bandwidth per floor (including possible future expansion) would be around 60Mbps max. Please advise what cisco switch(s) I should use at floor, what switch I should have as the core switch and what switch I should place between the core switch and Monitoring Stations/NVRs.

help with a new camera and software glitch
PsychoMantis replied to motofox's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
What you're asking for is called Propotional Zoom/Smart Zoom to eliminate what I call "sniper effect" by the model number it seems it's coming from some Chinese Home Industry. Really doubt if there is any solution. -

I'd recommend HIK Vision DS-2CD8133 (VGA) or DS-2CD8153 (2MP and HD 720p Real-time) WiFi version. It is very small like a webcam, comes with a built-in 4mm lens wide enough to cover your room and has a built-in Microphone and a Speaker as well, client support available for win/mac/blackberry/iphone/android/symbian/windows phone. Search youtube with model number for sample video. -
Hi, A client has installed 40 Pelco Camclosure IP110 Cameras all powered-up by PoE Switches. They are considering our company for Maintenance Contract, at least three of these cameras cause problems when the electricity is shifted to Generators or Back to Mains (Electric Load Shedding is common in Pakistan). The thing is ping reply is normal for all of these, only the video disappears. After some time the video comes back and the camera becomes normal once again. I have suggested the client to use non-PoE switch and use AC adapter for the camera but we need to sign the contract before they allow our technicians to touch their equipment. Anyone with similar problem? or suggestions?

Hi, I'm new to bigger scale application of network cameras, have to manage and install 65 megapixel ip cameras, I guess I'll only need layer2 equipment, what network hardware will suit best to ensure smooth operation allowing future addition up to like 100 cameras. Your suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Problem with camera "pulsing" light
PsychoMantis replied to checkyourmirrors's topic in Security Cameras
hello, this usually happens when there are multiple light showers specially when the lights are concealed in the false ceiling, try using an AUTO IRIS Lens .and if you are already using AUTO Iris lens as our friend has suggested, the only solution to this problem is using a manual iris lens and narrowing the iris opening to the extent it stops breathing -

IP Camera NVR Software Available via download
PsychoMantis posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi, I live in a country where too much import tax is charged on software imports, is there any website where I can purchase download version of some good software NVR/Analytic for 16 IP cameras? your help will be appreciated. thanks & regards Awais -
even 65 is very good for outside! i think you don't need 67 as long as you're installing a camera on a ship deck.. even ip 66 would do enough.. where 6 means the equipment can tolerate frequent water jets.. dont worry at all!
