Though I've been in the electronic security business for almost 30 years,I've only put in maybe a few dozen cctv systems.I have a customer who wants to look at maybe 4 cameras, each on its own tv channel,I'm looking at maybe 6 tvs.I believe comcast already has amped their signal.I'm looking at a "channel plus" #5545.Could some one pleas elaborate on ease of set up,signal strength, what else may be needed,or experience with different manufacturer THANKS,ANY INPUT WILL HELP

4 channel video modulator
Armyofone replied to Armyofone's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
thank you people,I spoke with comcast, they say they only have one channel open for this app.so I guess they have to stick to one camera or keep dvr on 4channel split screen, and use vga out for monitoring at dvr and maybe i can use bnc out to one channel mod.I cant see how that wouldn't work, aye! -

Most likely its inside the camera, not the lense.Over years I have run into this with standard box, bullet, dome,as well as cube.I originaly thought I had a monitor with dead pixels, hookedit up to 4channel DVR and it was just in that picture frame,Its really weird because if you move the camera, the scene moves but spots stay in same place! Drove me absolutely batty figuring the reason out.can't tell in light scenes, save yourself some time and send it back!don't take the chance customer won't see it-they will eventualy, and you'll spend free service time Disc.and going back again to re-connect.If customer sees it the'll think its poor product(not good for you).tell your rep the problem and ask to bench before they ship, most likely they will respect your wishes!! this will save you mucho-bucks,along with your reputation..Good Luck, hope I helped.

Isn't there a good all around camera that exists!?
Armyofone replied to 3RDIGLBL's topic in Security Cameras
I've only had a problem with one cx550dn,(as far as the focus shift is concerned),I talked the customer into upgrading from a c550dn to the cx model, and garranteed improvement, next morning he called and said there was no improvement, I checked recording, and it did act as an "easy" Daynight Camera.I put a box over it and could not hear the cut filter(I could have damaged it,for it was one in stock in van for months)Returned for new, installed &no problem. I heard that all mechanical Cut cameras have a slight shift ,though very minimal, and not to the extent you say. Also,I've seen the blue on greens as in your shot, some cameras With high sensitivity, seem to use more blue, IRE? I don't know, but it is adjustable to get correct color.I still think it's a great bargain for its performance,Without having to upgrade 1-2 hundred more per camera for same chip in more well branded cameras! It Seems as though your satisfied, and the pictures look great!Good Job! -
Used rg59 twist ons for years,I couldn't see the expense going from as low as 30cents wholesale a piece to 1.50-3.50 wholesale a piece compression. Then I got tired of going back to jobs where the dvr was moved alittle and got lost video or interf.from braids touching each other.I didn't want to pay the fifty bucks for a compression tool, and find I didn't Like It,or pay the dollars rather than cents for the connectors.Well I Did just that! Now I have never had to go back for the reasons above. Now I'll Just use twists for a quick test set up or something,But not on installs. However don't despair if you go through a couple at first till you get the knack,So buy extra's(It took me 7tries)to get it right. hope this helps.Oh! and another big plus is it looks very clean to the customer.

Isn't there a good all around camera that exists!?
Armyofone replied to 3RDIGLBL's topic in Security Cameras
hi guys. i'm the one that suggested the arm camera,I found through my camera that the more level the plane of the camera in bright scenes, the tougher the camera seems to adjust itself.you may lose some of the further field of view, but for the heck of it ,try pointing the camera down an inch at a time, and you'll probably notice the brightness on the driveway lower down a bit.it worked somewhat for me.factory settings work the best also,dip#1up,234down.took me a lot of frustration to figure that out.just by chance by the way.this camera still has a great picture at night in low light, give us a comparison against the panny. Also I noticed in you office shot that the arm is pointed at the light a bit more than the panny! Good Luck and I'll still stick with the cx550dn for the money! Cha-Ching!! Love that sound. -

GeoVision or Dedicated System? Hotel install, check it out
Armyofone replied to dj29152's topic in General Digital Discussion
I don't use geo,or below 480line camera's,however my rule of thumb is if your recording at 640x480=at least 480line camera's,704x480 use 530 and up,720x480=540and up.To wow! your customers or for good facial recognition, use at least 480lines,I hope this helps. -
vst_man, Just to let you know,as a professional,I would never "LOW-BALL" my competitors,I find it to be unethical and unprofessional! Most people here I'm sure will agree. Just a thought.

I Have A Client That Insisted On A 22" LCD Monitor,Got Him A Nice Samy 2253bw,On An Articulating Arm.Anyways,He Likes To View Cameras On Full Screen,Sequential Switching,The Problem Is He Has An 8Ch.Dvr With Only 6 Cameras.I Can't Seem To X Out Cameras 7&8 So He Has To Go Through Wasted Time Of Viewing 2 Blank Camera Scenes.I Was Told By Mnftr. That It Cannot Be Done On VGA Out ,Only On BNC Spot-Out.Is This Common? And Has Anyone Tried To Compare BNC In Vs. VGA In On An LCD Monitor? Is There Any Noticeable Difference? Thanks.

No Computer For Playback Of CD-DVD
Armyofone replied to Armyofone's topic in General Digital Discussion
I Think I Heard The Term AVI Format Or FAT32,Associated With This Unit..How Does It Matter? I've Been In Business For 28yrs Doing Burg & Fire,We Might Have Put In A Camera Here & There,But Have Really Put An Interest In It The Last Five As in advertising,And Offering On Burg Installs,Etc.Etc.Etc,It Seems That When You Feel You Know Alot About It.,Something New Screws Up Your Comfort Level,And Rattles Your Routine.Like Life,Camera Surveillance Systems Is A Never Ending Learning Experience!!! I LOVE THE CHALLENGES IT BRINGS..Some Times You Just Can't Figure Some Things Out.But I Learned Its Not Worth Beating Your Head In Frustration,Loose Your Pride And Ask For Help,You'll Be Far Ahead Of The Guy Who Doesn't.Thats Why We're Here. Thanks. -
