Hi, new here but you guys seem great. I have a GV600V3 card, and have available a GV-Net and GV-NET/IO card which I have tried in the PC. I cannot get the software (latest from Geo) to see the fact either card is installed on Com1. Everything seems to be working fine with the system, and when using the IO card, I can trigger the relays so am relatively sure there is nothing wrong with the card, just cant get it to install as a module. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am trying to get the TV output of my graphics card to display the cameras, so I can be in another room, flick to a scart socket, and see the images. The TV is displaying exactly what the main monitor is, but there is no video, its just slabs of pink. When I configure a camera, I get the relevant video feed for the camera options, its just not displaying video in its normal mode. Any ideas?? Video card is a NVidia GeForce 6200 and the DVR is the Geo GV-600

Dual monitor output - Geovision software

There is no output on the Geo card for TV etc, the only way I could get Geo SW/HW doing that is using a DSP card. I have been running a Trial of Windows 2003 server for a while on the system which it was running fine, so I know the hardware can do it. I have upgraded windows on my main rig to XP 64 bit, so my 32 bit is available, and due to the server os nearing expiration, I transferred my XP 32 over to the server, its jsut with XP I am having the problem. -

Its a fairly modern TV, which has had no issues running the PC before, and it can easily handle 800x600 as it has been used on another server for a while. The TV is still displaying the buttons, anything the main display displays, just not video. -
Advice please on camera types

LOL, I hate the little critters, they do love the IR's! Thanks for your help. I will give RF a look as I have used them before and they seemed very helpful. I just wanted to get a 'broader' view of things. -
I need a camera to go on my garage. It will be working in low light conditions so obvioulsy day/night with IR would be good. Also higer resolution the better. I would like to have a wide angle of view with it. Is it best to use a normal B&W camera, and use seperate IR illumintors or use all in one. The thing I have noticed, with the IR cameras is that the IR spot is very centralised, whereas I would like a wide flood of IR light. Dont want to spend a raft of money as this is for my system at home, but the camera that I have is now giving up after two years, and want something good. Any recommendations chaps?

Thanks Rory, I will give it a day or two to see if anyone who is in the UK and is a reseller sees this as I would appreciate their input on it. -

Sorry Rory, which link?? Plus I need to find a camera that is in the UK, as if I order from overseas, I am going to have to pay some kind of import tax and vat when going through customs and excise and like to know what the cost is when ordering all in. -

I dont think I need to have a hidden camera in a electrical box, as that would also stand out where it has to go. I like the look of the dome one with the IR illuminators that AVConsulting gave link to, but I can find a UK supplier. -

To me, covert and discreet are hand in hand really. I want something that is going to do a good job, but it doesnt stand out like a sore thumb, perhaps I should have chosen my words better. Probably some kind of bullet camera, I would be happy to look at something around the size of a drinks can in size. -

Thanks for the reply guys. It has to be one camera, for starters, the cable run is 40 metres long to the room where the PC is based, 2nd, I have a 4 port GV600, and already have 4 cameras working, the camera I want is to replace one that is now starting to fail. Max budget is probably £150, but I want as 'covert' as possible, but it has to mount under a bit of the eves, just below a guuter line. -
Yes, you can add more cameras, but you need to buy extra bits have a look at the bottom of the geovision page http://www.geovision.com.tw/002/en/product-gv600.asp

Geovision and now installing PTZ

Rory, just so you know, I appreciate one gets what one pays for, but there are times when it is handy to be able to alter the field of view, so this sorts that out whilst still being on a budget. Maybe later on in life I will get a better one. I know a great deal of you are suppliers, and cant divulge certain information, but for future reference, where is a good source of CCTV equipment on a more domestic, discreet style?? -
Geovision and now installing PTZ

OK, after having a little think, I tried using address 0 even thought the camera was set for address 1. It works. Now just a little thing at the moment is when I zoom in, the brightness of the camera goes bezerk and the image becomes very very bright and useless. I appreciate that the camera uses a digital zoom so the image will get distorted when at the maximum zoom. Also then when zooming out the camera pans to the left. Are these little things that occur when doing an install of a PTZ camera?? lol. -

http://www.rfconcepts.co.uk/ptz_dome.htm This is the camera, which does use Pelco D as its protocol so I have read. I dont have access to a keyboard controller. I am 99.9% sure that the address is set correctly, certainly the dip switches are set to what they should be, although I will reverse position of the switches, just in case of a printing error etc. -

I have tried varying pelco protocols. The company that sold the camera says beside the very camera can be controlled by GeoVision. So if not compatible, I would be somewhat annoyed. When installing the PTZ, I have connected the various cables, power, serial etc, and in the software I have selected in the general setup tab, where you can select the PTZ cameras Pelco, and activated it. I have set the address of the camera at 10, and when rying to control the PTZ the address near the controls is set to 10. As you have done the PTZ before, could you run through how you got PTZ working with your varying setups, and make it as simple as you can please. If you could start from the position of having the geo card installed and working, but no add ons. This would help me I think as I might be missing a step. -

I believe that the GVNet is needed to act as the interface for the conversion between 232 and the camera. I got the IO as at some point I would like to set up events, so if a door opened, it could focus on that area. I cant seem to get the camera to respond, but am not sure if is the configuration, or if something is up with the camera. When the camera is powered down, and then powered up, it does go through a initialisation routine where it moves about. I think every thing is connected right, I just cant get it to work. -

It is definitely com1. I am a little forward I feel. I have been able to get the Rx light on the card to flicker when trying a Pelco Dome (which should be the type according to what I have read) One thing that is slightly confusing, the PTZ control wires are red and white. Which one should be on the + and - terminal on the card??
