    Image flipping problems

I'm having the same problem. It's annoying because it triggers the system to start recording based on a motion event. I haven't managed to figure it out but I run my cams from an amateur radio spec 13.8 V DC power supply. I'm going to try plugging the power supply into my Line regulating UPS to see if it helps (when the adaptor I ordered arrives).

    Geovision and dedicated remote view

right on loop ! That's exactly what I do and it works fine - I never lose my ADSL connection. As for firewall, I use Bitdefender Antivirus/Firewall. I wasn't happy with Norton as I suspected that it slowed my internet traffic down. Bitdefender is cheaper, faster and better IMHO.

    Geovision

Unfortunately you would have to take out the 650-4 and get a 650-8. You can't have more than one Geo card in a PC as far as I know.

Geovision pirate cards on Ebay UK

Some guy is selling "Geovision" DVR cards complete with a Day/Night camera for next-to-nothing on Ebay UK. The card looks to be the cheapo $20 cards that always come bundled with the PICO2000 software......or maybe I'm mistaken : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2994106690&category=3204. I've reported it to Geovision and Ebay anyway just in case something can be done.

computer to hold a DVR card?

To be honest I have pretty limited knowledge as I've only ever built one Geovision system - a Gv250 in an AMD XP2800 Barton system - but I think you're probably better off with the P4. Ideally you should capture at 640 x 480 as I believe that capturing at a lower resolution with the Geo will reduce the quality of the live image that you see as well as the recorded image ( but I might be wrong ), unless you are using the add-on real-time display card which would allow you to view all cameras simultaneously at full frame rate regardless of what rate your system records at. There are more knowledgeable persons on this forum though and I'm sure they'll set you on the right track By the way, I'm using XP Pro and my system is rock solid stable. It's left on 24/7 and never locks up or fails to record. Steve

Geovision pirate cards on Ebay UK

I just had an e-mail from Geovision and they say that they aren't bothered because the cards aren't copies of genuine cards and therefore it is only their brand name that's being misused.
  11. I leave my PC on 24/7 running my GV250 v6.0, with webcam server and RPB server running also. I've just checked what was recorded overnight and all my recorded files up until 0730 hrs this morning have disappeared. Co-incidentally, my first recorded file was dated exactly one month ago today ie 10th January. The Recycle box was checked and the number of days set at 60. The missing files are not in the Windows Recycle bin. Disk space available was 94 Gb before the files disappeared. Any ideas anyone ?? steve

    Deleted video files

I didn't reformat last time but I've just created a brand new 50Gb partition and reformatted it. We'll see how it goes...... I've left it set to recycle after 90 days.

    Deleted video files

It's just deleted all my video files again. Everything during the last calendar month is gone. It seems strange that it has waited exactly 1 month since the last time it did this.

    What specification lens ?

Norbain seems to own the Vista brand. I would guess that a lot of the Vista stuff is simply re-badged. I have been told that the Vista camera that I've just bought is a re-badged Baxall so I wouldn't be surprised if they are re-badging Kalatels. At least they're using good kit though........

    What specification lens ?

I just bought a camera for my driveway to cover the car. It hasn't arrived yet and I'm looking for a lens. The camera is a Vista 1/2" HyperHad CCD Day/Night(second hand). It has 480 Lines resolution in colour and 580 in mono. IR cut filter, IR sensitive, AI/DD/EI lens drives (whatever that means !), C/CS mount. By my calculations I need a 4.5mm lens with auto iris but I'm sure it can't be as simple as that. Is there anything else I should look for in a lens to match this camera ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2989979690&category=3204&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBWN%3AIT&rd=1 Thanks Steve

    What specification lens ?

Sorry everyone - I've sorted it now. There is a small black screw on the side without any markings. I had a fiddle with it and the image is now in focus,

    What specification lens ?

Sorry, just leave username & password blank. I've looked at the dip switches and none of them is marked DD. There is a link to a spec sheet here : http://www.norbain.com/products//ref:0038790/. Mine is the VPCMH/LV Model.

    What specification lens ?

Well I've received the lens - a computar 3.6mm Direct drive - and fitted it, but there's a problem. The image is completely out of focus and won't adjust. The model number is : HG3616FCS-3. It's set up as camera two at : http://81.86.129.112/. Is there something I'm not doing ? There doesn't appear to be a switch on the camera to select whether or not it's a Direct drive lens.

    What specification lens ?

It's about $160. I didn't realise the 1/2" lenses were so much more expensive but I saw the camera for sale on Ebay and it seemed a very good deal - £73 for a nearly new current model as opposed to around £350 for a similar-spec new one. I'm hoping to get very good performance from the 1/2" and I can always park the car a yard or so further back if the FOV is not wide enough.

    What specification lens ?

Thanks, I've found the Computar lens you suggest. It's going to cost around £90 which doesn't seem too bad I suppose, as long as it does the job. It's basically going to be used to watch over my car. It will be around 2m above the ground at the front of the car. The front doors are around 7 ft from the camera. At the moment I'm using a 1/3" CCD bullet cam with a 4.3mm lens which seems to be about right but the FOV could be a couple of feet higher and wider to be perfect. Steve
  22. steve6690

    What specification lens ?

Thats the one I used to come up with the 4.5mm. Basically, the 4.5 mm will give me the ideal FOV that I need. It's the rest of the lens characteristics which baffle me. I know I need auto-iris for outdoors but I don't know for example which is the maximum f-stop I can get away with, or whether there are better lenses for use with IR lighting, or what AI/DD/EI lens drive means. 1/2 lenses seem to be fairly expensive and I don't want to waste my money on something unsuitable. Geovision webcam window

When I access my GV250 over the internet via the webcam feature, none of the selectable options display the correct text. All I am getting is "???". For example when I click to change the "video quality" I get three options to select but I can't read what the options are as it just displays "???". Can't find anything in the manual about this. Is there a setting I have missed or a patch I can install ?? http://81.86.129.112/lanmpegview0/htm user and password leave blank. Thanks Steve
