Choppy video is expected if you are using the GV-250, and also if you are using the GV-600 with more than a one camera due to frame rate limitations. The red pxels or dots you are seeing, I would think those are related to the camer more so than the DVR. What type of camera is it? Scottj

Yes, you just have to make sure that if you are using a Router with the DVR at your home that you port forward (virutal server) or "open/map" the proper port numbers used by the Geo webservers. If you go to need help, myself or Rory can setup your machine remotely providing you load a VNC client on the DVR so we can gain access to it. You can then just sit back and watch the changes one of us makes to the DVR sort of like a online tutorial. Contact one of us in PM if this sounds like something you wish to do. Scottj

I am going to take a stab at this one and say the answer is no. I am not 100%, but finding DVR's out there that do support browser view through MAC is sometimes difficult although I have seen a unit or two. There was another member who knew this topic inside and out when dealing with MAC, it may have been Thomas from Video Insight. Chime in Thomas, you are on the stage....... Scottj

ClosedCircuit, Between Sal and I, we can help you get out of your POS headaches. Honestly, once you have done a few of them and have good documentation you will find that the POS feature is really added value with the Geo systems compared to others. For instance we just were awarded the DVR products for a company that owns over 90 gas stations due to the fact that the competition had to use a capture module to overlay the text. We figured out that the GV-Data mods were not needed for the most widely used POS systems in gas stations and were able to come in about 800.00 a site lower than the competition as a complete package. The bottomline is that we can help you out and have the technical know how to do so where you won't run into this issue in the future. Give it another shot, I feel that you will be very happy in the end. Sals company offers solid service and support, and the Geo components you need. Think about it, if he doesn't take good care of you, you know where to find him Scottj

Got it thank you. I hate website design, I cringe at the thought of ever doing it for some unknown reason. Scottj

Looking for a website guru to work on a small project. Please contact me if interested. No Yahoo GeoCities type sites, clean professional looking corporate sites for informational purpose primarily. No online shopping or anything like that. I would rather have my wisdom teeth removed again then play with website design. Scottj

This is a site for me, not the other forum. Totally nothing to do with one another. Scottj

Oh and did I mention NO CANADIAN DESIGNERS? haha, only teasing G22... Scottj

VIA chipset? Hope not..... I suppose the company you work for will not allow the downloading of ActiveX controls to use the browser view either....hmmmm Regardless, you are going to have to install somethng on the work PC, whether they know it or not. It can be done. The Geo based system allows for Remote Playback viewing as you mention. It will allow you to search the DVR video database and then you can play the files over IP, or download/play the files. Since you will be at work, good chance you are going to have some ports blocked that need to be opened through the firewall there which may pose as a slight problem. Ever though about getting a PDA? I came from the hot beaches (Newport Beach) to St. Louis...Spent most of my life in the beach cities, got tired of having to translate everything...El Pollo Loco? Why don't they just say The Crazy Chicken? Scottj

I just levitated again...

ESPN, Fox Sports......I blocked most of the other channels so I don't have to suffer with my girlfriend making me watch them. I just tell her I downgraded the plan. There is nothing worse then coming home to a woman who just finished watching Cheaters or Oprah, I would rather be buried alive then the hear her. Scottj

What VGA boards are both of the PC's using? Scottj

What a looser....haha Scottj

CPCam sells AVTech, it is garbage. I just sent a 16 channel unit back we tested, I wouldn't install that thing in a dog house. Scottj

Watched a show tonight "Las Vegas" and saw some nutcase levitate himself. Man I need to learn how to do that. I could earn a second income just floating around at the bars and making cheap bets with people. I pulled a PDF on "How to Levitate Balducci Style" haha, it doesn't work, I'm still grounded. Scottj

What a suck up....haha How much do you want EFT this time Troy? Scottj

Anyone in here ever try to levitate like David Blaine does?
scottj replied to scottj's topic in Test Bench
I figured the levitation out, I almost freaked my girlfriend out when I tried it for her. Her jaw hit the floor...That was the most silent I think she has ever been...Interesting??? I may be onto something for all you married guys. Scott -
I am at a loss.....

is xvision the same as geovision
scottj replied to antdickens's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
No, basically just changing the image files is all they do. The SDK from Geo really is limited for only integrating additional devices or adding it to other systems (Access Control, etc) -
No, This particular setting is labeled RPB (not to be confused with Remote Playback Server) and will limit the amount of bandwidth usage to stream video for live viewing. There is also a setting for this under the Remote Playback Server (bandwidth control) that will limit the amount of bandwidth used for downloading from the recorded video database. It really is a poor labeling issue that Geo should address, as it causes confusion to many people. Setting a upper bandwidth limit just keeps the DVR from congesting the network. By default (unchecked), the WebCam Server will attempt to use ALL of your upload bandwidth, regardless if it even needs it or not. The remote connection then becomes very burstable and if you have a low cost router in place it has been known to lockup the routers (such as D-Link,Netgear). The request for maximum bandwidth is just not needed, as many cameras with average movement compresses using GeoMPEG or MPEG4 only require 25-35KB/sec to achieve 15 FPS or better remotely per channel. Limiting the number of people can be done by setting the maximum channels in the Webcam or the Remote Playback Servers. For example if you set the max channels to 5, then only 5 users will be allowed to perform that function at any given time simultaneously. Does this explain it better? Scottj

32K is all it uses from what we tested since it is 8-bit mono. ADPCM. Something you can do which will help the latency on the audio side, is go into the WebCam setup menu and set a maximum limit (RPB tab) of bandwidth allowed to 125kb. This will reduce the video frame rate during remote viewing, and help ease the network congestion on the upload side of the server. The network congestion is what causes the audio to clip if in fact it is bandwidth related. We also use a Crown PZM-11LL (line Level) with phantom/24VAC powered Mic. here is a link to the PDF from Crown. http://www.crownaudio.com/pdf/mics/136455.pdf Works great, crisp clear sound over IP and can be mounted in drywall or a drop ceiling with a single gang box. Securityusa, Thanks though, it is a very good article as a resource you posted. I didn't mean to chime in as a means of insult to your efforts. Scottj -
