Ditek Surge Protection http://www.ditekcorp.com/products-show.asp?idFam=8 We use the DTK-iBNC for the camera end, then the DTK-RM16NM for the head end. So far we have never had a job that too a direct hit by lightning, so our test data is limited. scottj

Most of the PD's within our area use the AVID system to prep video for prosecution, lawyers etc. http://www.avid.com/index.asp scottj

Check the BIOS and see if the previous user has a large portion of the RAM allocated for the VGA memory. Could also be garbage memory. scottj

the idea Rory is to NOT get sued........Although I think she likes being looked at. Ever since her dork of a husband bought her a new set of guns. The girlfriend hates it, made me get custom wood blinds made for my bay window in the kitchen so I cant look over there anymore..she just doesn't know about the PTZ yet.

Kalatel CyberDomes....work great. If I get a chance tonight, I will put my house back online (been adding a automation server for 2 weeks now) so you can play around with my PTZ's. I have (6) CyberDomes arouind my house, (3) are the Day/Night with no illuminators and the view is very good. If you pan camera 8 to the right far enough and zoom in about 70 feet, you might be able to catch my neighbors wife changing into her pajamas...usually about 9 pm CST. scottj

Interesting..... Are you just attempting to play the files, or download/play? You may just have to delete the RPB folder, delete the OCX Downloaded files from the Windows folder, and remove the registry keys and try to connect again. The only other reason I can think of is if this particular PC has limited RAM resources, but I am sure you have that covered. scottj

What DVR card are you using? Some come with a TV Out composite port on them, some do not. Most of the lower cost solutions will offer a single channel interval display, versus seeing the multiplexed video on an external TV. It sounds like you could probably use a VGA to TV splitter/converter module. This would offer you a VGA input from the DVR and composite/S-video outputs to the TV while still allowing for the local VGA screen to be treated the same as it presently is. There are links on the forum somewhere for these, I just cannot find them at the moment, you may want to try the Search feature at the top of this screen and see if you can locate the other discussions. scottj

30 FPS is the most you can expect per camera channel. scottj

Have you verified that you are not blocking any ports to that remote PC? scottj

What is your budget to work with? Also, do you want a fixed outdoor dome (vandal dome, etc.) or a PTZ? If PTZ, what DVR software will you be using? Scottj

that makes sense, thanks Thomas

Isn't the distance between the camera and USB port going to be an issue as well? My understanding is that after about 15 ft. USB is worthless. Maybe I am not understanding exactly what he wants to do...Sounds like he could just buy a webcam and call it a day. scottj

bandwidth is still the issue, I would be willing to guarantee that the March setup required more than 32KB upload from each location of these Sheetz stores. scottj

Tape the wires to a cat, place the food at the other end of the drop ceiling. Let the cat go....you are in business. If the cat gets lost or doesn't make it to the food bowl, you really haven't lost anything....

Fiberglass wiring push/pull rods. Screw them together and away you go, easily up to 20 feet. (gets a little flimsy though at 20'). They have them at HomeDepot, about 40 bucks. scottj

Thermal Eye. http://www.thermal-eye.com/home_flash.asp 4-6k range per camera, but incredible. Used a few of them for an electrical substation area where the fence line was being breached. Here is the actual camera used: http://www.thermal-eye.com/productcatalog/prodItem53.html# scottj

NetMeeting has come a long way since 9 years ago. Man 9 years ago..."AOL GOODBYE!" that was about all that was audio on the web, the moment you connected via that lightning fast 28.8 modem, AOL would say "You've Got Ma...GOODBYE!" Couldn't stay connected long enough to even get my damn mail... scottj

Is NetZeye connected to Geovision in anyway?
scottj replied to Amrish's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
No, they did it on the older versions of Geo, back in the V5.4 days. I'm sure they easily modified it for newer versions later. scottj -

The just changed the GUI of the Main software Rory, nothing special. scottj -
I'm game. What would be really cool is to have a Webinar using NetMeeting with some conference cams (I have Polycoms). This way everyone could actually see the products over IP, just like sitting back and watching a movie, minus the popcorn.. We can talk too. scottj

Q.E.D., Yeah thanks for the staff report, we know Rory will be safe from his Hot Pockets from now on.

shoot me a PM with your email address, I will send you something from the office tomorrow. scottj -
How are you planning on sending the video onan Alarm or Event condition, FTP? If so, FTP is a bandwidth hog and will only make it worse. scottj

Simyf, Take a look at these guys. They make some nice products for what you may find useful. Also gives you the ability to stream multiple cameras over single fiber. http://www.nkfelectronics.com/products/products_find.php scottj
