Ask Edward or Michelle why they chose Wiegand format for the Access Control features. Most upperend controllers do not use this outdated format. And tell Michelle I'm still not ready to get married. scottj

version 7 is not what it is all advertised and "hyped up" to be. Most of the features are ones about 3% of the end users will ever utilize. The dongle is pathetic. Just adds the "cheap" feel to a system already sponsored by Crayola. I'm happy we are disposing of it to be perfectly honest.

Can you recommend a system for me?

haha...Yep Thomas I have seen it, and I have also seen the invoice for that setup. Come on people, who can trust their security issue to be handled by the same people that made the voting machines? (unless your last name is Bush) scottj -

Geovision Port forwarding assignments
scottj replied to WildCard's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Port Forward or create Virtual Server (depending on the router brand) the following: 80 = Http 3550 = TCP Server (bind IP in "Hotline/Network" tab, Used for RemoteView Client) 4550 = Command 5550 = Data 5066 = Remote Playback Server 6550 = Audio 3389 = Remote Desktop Connection 3663 = Authentication Server Check the WebCam and TCP features in the General System Configuration menu. Enable the RPB (remote playback) server to auto start when windows starts, smooth sailing......Setup DDNS Management client if you use dynamic IP service. scottj -

My Denali plate says SKN-GAS. Makes all the hybrid drivers flip me off. Then again they have one little accident and they have to be fed through a tube.

AMEN....the true words have been sppken...i agree completely. the one time that due to poor lighting and cheap cameras that some axe swinging redneck sneaks by and mauls your family or robs you of your safe, that extra few thousand dollars you tried to save all of a sudden starts to look more attractive. scottj

I believe windows XP will allow for what is called drive spanning. You can create "spanned" volumes with multiple partitions or actual physical drives. scottj

Saw it today but can't share it yet. Looks about 800% better, no more cartoonish look, looks very professional and they finally paid someone who uses more than MS Paint to design it. The multiView application through IE is different also in order to match the main system. Looks good, real good. Most certainly an A+ for geovision. Also, there will be a new geoboard out that uses an S3 chip (remember the S1???), this chip will be required in order for the latest version of 7.0 to work. I imagine that the dongle will be required also. scottj

Accessing a Cctv on a Network behind a Router via Web

hard to believe they sell that DVR for over a grand. I can buy that for one fourth of that cost, but like a wise man once said..."You can't shine a turd". scottj
