New store...video needed...guidance requested
scottj replied to ksv666's topic in Questions about this site
Kirk, I sent you a PM of someone close enough to your location that could help you out. However, the "10%" comment doesn't mean too much (you would be hard pressed to find someone to wake up for 10% these days, sort of like you wouldn't sell sandwiches at 10% either). In your price range you should be able to deploy a system that fits your needs. Give that guy a call I sent via PM and he can make recommendations, I know his quality of work is very good and his reputation is very positive. Scottj -
On the client PC, map the View Log.exe to the database folders on the GV machine. It should work with no problems. Scottj

How to setup GeoVision for Remote View using Dynamic IP
scottj replied to radigital's topic in Geovision
Did your Geo gear not come with a manual? If not, go to www.geovision.com.tw and download the manual, it will answer all the questions very clearly. Scottj -
No there is not using the RemoteView Client, use the Web based access and you wil be able to have multiple users. Scottj

Webview is not accessable on Geovision card
scottj replied to lucky888's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
You cannot use IIS (with default settings configured) and also run the Geo WebServer feature. What will happen is the WebServer has a conflict with IIS and will automatically shutdown after a few minutes. Start everything up and then pay atention to the upper right corner of the main GUI and you will see what I mean. The "Web" text will disappear, meaning it has shutdown as IIS takes priority. If you are comfortable with configuring IIS differently, then it can be made to not conflict, however it is too long a conversation for me to type on this forum. Rory made the suggestion for changing the port assignments that will be required. Scottj -
What do you consider a "protected brand" by definition? Scottj

You guys want the truth to your error message? Geovision failed to renew the VeriSign Digital Signature certificate and they expired on hundreds and hundreds of people. That is your real problem. Version 7.05 includes the "renewed" certificate. Stop searching for a fix, it is not your machine. Someone needs to tell Geo to pay their bills huh? Here lies the evidence they tried to squeak by you guys: http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/4_2.asp Scottj

I sell the exact same camera, only the housing is silver versus black. It is a very nice camera actually. Scottj

depends on how old your board is (version of the board, or chip identifier) You still may need the dongle. Scottj

Use Windows Embedded XP, you will be able to do exactly what we all think you are trying to accomplish. Scottj

For low cost solution, use Edimax routers and you won't have any issues with the Geo systems. Have sold over 100 units and they just work period. D-Stink and the other Best Buy home networking types are made for exactly that...home networking (kids PC and Dad's laptop via wireless, thats about it). Scottj

Depends on how much you guys are willing to pay me, its all business for me....haha Scottj

I need couplers for the 12v power supply. Where can I buy?
scottj replied to xan021's topic in Security Cameras
I have seen those ready made cables, I actually watched a contractor attempt to pull those through conduit before. Rather funny when all the connectors are then at one end, cable at the other. Scottj -
Rory and I will be there. Anyone who is going that wants to try and meet up one evening during the event, let us know. The bikini bull riding is worth the airfare in itself:) Scottj

I think I know your issue, one of my guys ran into this recently and it took him awhile to find the cure. (it was something simple, just can't remember it off the top of my head). I will ask him in the morning and post an update. Don't waste time with Geo Tech Support, their idea of a "fix" will be to tell you to buy a second keyboard. Scottj

It is harder to create a post in this forum then it is to install software to a specified drive. You can find a basic understanding here at this link: http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/DummiesTitle/productCd-0764574809.html Scottj

Insyall to the C: (or system drive with OS) the Geo software and drivers. Then just map the storage path to a separate partition or physical drive (or many drives for that matter). Be sure to map not only the video storage, but also all text related database storage areas of the Geo to the additional partition or physical drives. Now take two aspirin and check back with us and let us know you have it working perfectly. Scottj

The Geo based system does the same thing, counts objects passing through In and Out zones that you mask yourself. Some of the larger retail customers are using this as a means to see how many customers they get visitng their stores. Scottj

What version are you using? Scottj Scratch that, I read the above post again. Go to the Geo folder under Program Files (or wherever you installed it) and scroll through until you find RPBSvr icon (red and blue). Execute it and click on Setup. This is where you can start the server on windows startup by entering in your password/user etc. Scottj

Hello there, just signed up! Building a PC based DVR...
scottj replied to Zip's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
yes we have used it, however UltraMon is easier and allows for more monitor settings, depending on screen layouts that you want. Scottj -
You need to setup the RPB Server and open up select ports (over WAN). The RPB Server can be set to automatically startup with windows as well. Scottj

Does anyone recognize this DVR card or software?
scottj replied to RichTJ99's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
It is a chinese generic board. The seller has a 72% gross profit margin on that board, so if you do the math you can see it is very cheap. Scottj -
In the 7.1 Beta it is not changed, rumor has it that it will be though. I wouldn't expect it to be honestly until a later version of 7.1 though based off historical activity. Scottj
