    whole house distribution

hey there ok I am doing some research for a system. I had an installer out and he says its going to be a very challenging install. Reason being is the design of my house gives him pretty much ZERO attic space to run wires etc. So I got to thinking. Could I have him run the wiring from the cameras to a central spot then down to a power box. Then, using a multi switch that I have with Directv, could I use that to distribute to the dvr's in my house that have a secondary antenna input? This way I could turn on any tv in my house and see the video feed? This is the multi switch. I imagine I would need a central switch or something to cycle. I may be way off base but I would like to use the existing wiring inside the house to view the cameras but dont know what I need to pull it together thanks
  3. do you have a number you can be reach at
  4. surprisingly yes I have had a tough time. And the other factor is that they wanted to overcharge on a lot of items. A dvr that can easily be bought for $300 to $400 they were costing out at almost $900. I have no problem paying a fair rate for labor and materials but not rediculous mark up's I believe in establishing a fair budget, getting the work done right the first time and then using that same company as many times as I can. In addition, I refer the heck out of them when I do find a good one. I did service magic and several other online searches and only got two contacts back to come out and do an estimate. One was fairly knowledgeable and the other not so much. Both however came in at over $3000 for a four camera job and dvr
  5. Hey all Manage to find this site after DAYS of searching google for help. So I have a 5 year old, two story house and we are looking to add a cctv security system. I have had two installers out for quotes and the one part they cant seem to answer is how to distribute video to my tv's. Now because of the design of the house, wire drops are virtually IMPPOSSIBLE due to limited attic space. I currently have directv and using the existing coax. Would this be an option to tap into the existing wiring to distribute the video. I should also mention that I am using a single wire multiswitch to alllow the directv dvrs to record more than one show. logic suggests perhaps I could diplex off that with a programmable modulator perhaps via a splitter??? Ok second, question... is 5.8ghz wireless a viable option now for security?
