PTZ panning above horizon 90 degrees

One thing I noticed on my new install PTZ cam is that you cannot zoom in on the horizon. From wide angle to zoom, it goes to somewhat below the original center of the screen. It is mounted at about 20' elevation and the road out front 150' away is at about 10' elevation. So it is at least 10' above the road. Before you could not zoom in on cars but now I shimmed the wall mount so it tips the bottom up some. You can zoom to a car height but you cannot lookup to say yards further out. There may be a way to also shim the camera itself in the mount so it tilts up some so you can zoom farther out. I liked the other thread about mounting one sideways... M-B
  2. Hello all! I am installing a Linux server based system. One of my cameras; a "JetView" PTZ 7" model JE900L, dome camera is not working. I had the power polarity reversed upon start up so I am thinking it went into a "safe" mode. It has 2 LEDs a red power LED and green programming LED. The red LED comes on OK & the camera runs through its zoom range and outputs an image OK. However the PTZ mecanism NEVER trys to move and the green LED goes on solid right away and then starts flashing once per second after about one minute. My 2nd JetView works fine and no green LED comes on upon power up. That is only to come on when programming the left and right setup via pressing 2 buttons on the board. To unlock it, I have tried pressing these in assorted times and combinations to no help; LOL... Any ideas would be appreciated! I can order a new board from China for $120 w/ shipping. Trying to avoid that as I am pretty sure it is OK. The manual does not adress a continual green flashing of the LED. Thanks for your input! M-B

    Linux DVR - Hawkeye

Thanks this thread was helpful. I bought a DVR from DVRUSA in late 2006. I have not gotten any info or price on getting a 2nd 8ch card for it. No part/name on the card. They just said send it in which I am not willing to do as I JUST got it set up. Product info at dvr(dot)neugent (dot)net /products/products (dot) php . I sent them an e-mail to see what they suggest.

    Cut Filter Problem

You would think 23V would be fine. That was w/ the camera running? I had a 12V x 110' run and used 16ga. wire due to losses at 2A. Another run was 200' and used 18ga for 0.5A @ 12V. That is where 24V is very helpful; smaller wire can be used. Under voltage can cause odd problems. Lights come on but things don't work right. I spent all day getting a wireless video transmitter/rec. working. Transformers labled at 9.5V but were only putting out 7V. When I went w/an 11V transformer it started working. Experimentation seems to be the name of the game in this field!

Wire crossed. Green flashing LED on PTZ cam; Help!

Well I took it apart. The servo motors were very stiff; particularly the 360 degree one. Hard to budge. They tested OK at 50 ohms across 2 windings each so that is likely OK. I could not get the motors to run on 9v or 12v for some reason. Put it all back together and then ordered a replacement PTZ unit. Oh well... I'll use it as a still camera for now till the parts come from overseas. Thanks for your help.

    Laser Illuminators

This forum discusses laser damage to CCDs. Seems like a standard laser pointer would have a hard time taking out a camera. Very interesting discussion: photo (dot) net/digital-camera-shopping-forum/00AJkN

Wire crossed. Green flashing LED on PTZ cam; Help!

I am thinking it does have protection because of the flashing LED. If the board was dead that would not flash and why solid green at first when it is suppose to be off until the 2 buttons are pressed together for 2 secs.? Seems like it is saying something thus likely was designed that way vs. just being dead in the water. I have the installation manual and it does not address it. Thanks!!!

Wire crossed. Green flashing LED on PTZ cam; Help!

I tried that; same LED however. I think these things can remember their setup for a year w/o power. Any other reset ideas? Thanks! M-B
