  1. Yes sir, that it is. Interestingly enough it displays the day of the week in English. I was wondering if you wanted a dump of the firmware to examine. If it's showing English day of the week and English menus on 5.1.6 that you have put on yourself (not that it came with) without my region changer program or manual file hacks then you have an English factory version camera If all of the above not the case then probably not I'm not sure what you are saying. I haven't done anything to the camera, it came with 5.16 on it and displays all OSD in English. I'd rather not try anything until I know what exactly I have.

  4. FWIW, the DS-2CD2032-I I received yesterday shipped with 5.16.
  5. There seems to be both, you will have to check the individual vendor's listed specs and ask them to be sure. Edit: see the following post. It appears the 8 channel DS-7608NI-SE/P is the only one with the questionable number of POE ports.
  6. It's the logistics of putting in the POE switch (extra power outlet) and running extra connections through my routers. The location is a little crowded already. I paid $359.56 for the NVR and $467.5 for 5 DS-2CD2032-I cams. The good news is Julia Li has given the ok to ship it back at my expense of course for a refund. I have been pleased with their customer service so far.
  7. Thanks milkisbad, I'm thinking I may just take the hit and send it back. Buying a POE switch and networking the cams individually through a router are more complications than I want to deal with. If I went that route I might as well run it from my server. What's the worse outcome... I pay return shipping or sell it to someone at a discount? I'm willing to pay a little more for the right NVR from a US distributor with a 3 year warranty. Anyone want a deal on this?
  8. 7608 it is. My bad, missed the forest in the trees. This is the chance you take when ordering from non US distributors, my bad. Looks like I'll be keeping it, so now I'll have to make it work with 5 -6 cameras. That entails a stand alone POE injector and routing through a switch? How do I set up the NVR to see the "extra" streams. Point the NVR to their IP's? Anyone ever dealt with this type of Hik set up?
  9. Did you try the search box in the top right of your browser with "remote viewing" as your search term. There are several discussions of it already on this forum.
  10. Got my order in today, I'm a little confused. Ordered 1- NVR 8CH DS-7608NI-SE/P & 5 - DS-2CD2032-I. The NVR 8CH DS-7608NI-SE/P shows 8 POE ports on the data sheet. http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/image/2014011001572397147.pdf The one I received from CCTV Camera China has only 4 POE ports. Looking at their now defunct listing (they no longer carry it?) it does (now?) say 4 POE ports. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Hikvision-NVR-8CH-DS-7608NI-SE-P-Network-Video-with-4-independent-PoE-network-interfaces-Up/1573780442.html Did they make a 4 port DS-7608NI-SE/P or did they flash a DS-7604NI-SE/P with DS-7608NI-SE/P firmware? Any helpful suggestions appreciated.
  11. What problems are you having with the connectors with load bars? Maybe this will help:
  12. Thank you gentlemen, I appreciate the tips and discussion.
  13. Great, I just purchased 5 cams from CCTV CAMERA CHINA. How long after delivery was it before you asked to return? Did you go through the AliExpress dispute process? Did you leave them feedback? Please keep us up to date on this, thanks!
  14. Any recommended camera settings to help lower the effect?
  15. I can see where there may be a possible communication problem here but that in no way excuses the use of DaveM's full name in a public forum, especially after having any kind of business relationship with him. I believe you've crossed a line here and might want to consider editing that information your post. Times are getting tough and anything less than good customer relations and PR will cost you.
  16. Oops, looks like some of the SV35's are involved in this fiasco. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=128092&view=findpost&p=830686
  17. I saw those versions on their site (2-30gig) but there wasn't much information on the video input connectors that I saw.. is yours USB? I'll dig around a little more. Much appreciated!
  18. Thank you both, that helps some. Jim, which model Archos are you using and does the "adapter" come with it? I was thinking there should be some smaller form factor of LCD type monitors without the overhead of a DVD player (weight, size and cost) available.
  19. Could you share what you found? I need to rig something myself.
  20. The current Seagate 500GB, 1 & 1.5TB rash of drive failures seem to be attributed to bad firmware but I don't believe the SV-35 AV series is affected. Remote Access To DVR Using Cellular Service??????

More information on tweaking your TCP stack to find your best MTU. http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks/MTU The idea is to optimize your network throughput in an attempt to take your configuration out of the equation of troubleshooting network connectivity. The results can both compensate for QOS network issues you have no control over that could be causing time outs and often results in a faster connection. They also have a handy tool, Dr, TCP, to adjust the various settings so you don't have to muck around in the registry. I'd recommend anyone who works (or plays) with broadband to use these tools, the results can be amazing. http://www.dslreports.com/drtcp

Remote Access To DVR Using Cellular Service??????

You'll have to "look" at the actual network connection to see what's going on. Commercial wireless networks are configured for reliable QOS . Network connections timing out can be on either side of the equation.. I've used EVDO for internet but not for streaming video of any kind. Network QOS on site needs to be established before we can determine any solutions. If you're at the shop I can call if you'd like to discuss it or need any pointers in using the tests/tweaks.. I've been needing to call with a question anyway.

Mike, you might want to tweak the aircard's MTU and RWIN. Out of the box settings don't always work the best. DSLReports has an easy to use set of tools to test and tweak. To establish a baseline first run a: *Speed Test Next, do a tweak test: *Tweak Test *(requires java and or flash) Your end result should look something like this. http://www.dslreports.com/tweakr/block:2c543bf?service=dsl&speed=6000&os=winXP&via=routerpppoe

    who makes the G4 dvr's?

Let's try this again... http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=12176 I think the biggest question I have is which TI chip they are using in which model. As of April of this year TI's DaVinci portfolio includes fourteen digital media processors. http://www.dspdesignline.com/howto/207100917
