    Port Forwarding

Rory thats a great site! I used it to forward pots on my netgear 834g, trouble is it seems to need a staic ip to be able to allow port forwarding. I have followed the instructions to the letter to aquire a static ip, it needs the dns 234.98 etc to be able to do it , phoned BT who said they cant supply dns for a residential line. So i have a static ip using the geovision dns client , but what use is it with this router? A Drayton vigor 2600 is supposed to be the best for this application but this also requires a staic ip to allow port forwarding. I may have to sign up with BT for a static ip unless someone has managed this remote viewing option with a dynamic ip with a suitable router?

    Geo pda

100% agree! Geo poor on the pda , it picks the movement up 5 mins later! Getting about 8fps on the Kodicom
  7. Have 8 cameras going into a dvr , using loop through off to a pc card, i'm trying to use the 8 seperate rg59 cables to supply two pc's. I have fitted bnc tees on the ends of the supplies and fed them to the cards(Geovision and Kodicom). The Geo card is ok but the Kodicom shows a massive video loss, when i unplug the feeds to the Geo the kodicom is better but still shows loss on 2 cams.(change from color to b/w) I realise amplification is the way but wondering the best way to do it? Setup:All cams run approx 60 feet to the dvr, loop through run to pc 's is 70 feet in rg59,pq at dvr is perfect. Checked all fittings (bnc screw on< Rory )

    Geo pda

Put port 80 in the pda and it works great on my lan! When viewing remotely is it best to use port 80 through IE on a client pc without software, or can i use my pda remotely and connect as i think port 80 is always open?

    Geo pda

Viewing the pda software with the Kodicom is like looking out of the window! So the setup for the pda in geo is in the webcam server? Or rather it uses the web servers port. Rory , ive never seen Kodicom cards (genuine) on any webpage either!

    Multiple feeds!

Had quick web crawl in the UK and no-one lists this loop card. Anyone know where i can source one? Also using ver 6.0 can audio be captured to sync with the video? i seen a 4 channel audio record and playback card which can be added, although i have a gv-600 16 cam with 4 audio inputs?

    Multiple feeds!

Phewww! will check connections again Has to be said the Geo (ver 6.0) is a doddle to configure while the kodicom is a strange beast

  17. Hi to all, i have just received a kodicom card and software the card is an 880> I have istalled the card and the drvers,i have installed the digicom software centre but the Digicom site software wont install as there seems to be data missing. Could anyone tell me if the site software is the application to view the camera's directly from the dvr card on the pc?

    Remote viewing

Hi all, im trying to get my head around remotely viewing my camera's over the internet ,say in a different country? There seem to be various ways to do this(Rory's ipaq was so cool) If i buy a dvr with lan enabled , or a dedicated video server, can remote viewing be possible with a dynamic ip or do you need a static? Also if you need a static do you give the static to the dvr or the pc? I think no.ip.com can help in redirecting if you need a static but im not entirely sure how its done. Also to connect to your router or dvr remotely do you need the software on the pc or ipaq you are using or in some cases can you view the cameras directly from ie on any machine? So many questions i know

    Remote viewing

So the apache server uses port 80 instead of 8080 which is the port used on the lan?

    Remote viewing

Well pieces are falling into place! Rory and Marcus have been immense in their help Finally got the Kodicom to work and even on the Ipaq! Had no manual for the pda software but after a web crawl found a pdf(127 pages) which pointed me in the right direction. At the foot of the pdf(would be) there was a note saying use password 1234 instead of the password setup in site software and bang, crystal clear images at 7fps The final hurdle of my cctv quest is remote viewing,i realise i have to portforward my router to direct me to the pc on the lan, so when i remotely type in my outside ip the router directs me to the dvr machine. I have tried this and all i can get is my router setup page! So close and .....well you can guess the rest
  21. Looking for a good dvr card to support IE browsing, pda (version4.21.108 windows mobile 2003 2nd edition) !6 channels, min 2 audio. I know Iview is good but is Geovision also ok with the new 7.0 software and s3 chip?
  22. bob the b

    I-view

Less trees = less mess he he. Really impressive tho! s you know ive been tinkering with a kodicom with varied success so i think i might have to bite the bullet and go the i.view route. It seems the idiot proof route for builders like myself to be able to view his system through IE or a laptop with the software on. I have at the moment Kodicom, and two stand alone dvr's! One stand alone cant connect to the lan,one can but cant connect to IE, the kodicom cant connect to either!

    I-view

Rory how cool is this! Your garden needs a tidy though.tell you what, you help me set up a system like this and i'll do your garden!

    Kodicom software?

think the Kodicom card needs an Intel chipset on the m/board with a pentium cpu to make it work,as mine is an amd this could be the problem. Is this the case for kodicom?
