    Linux DVR cards

you might want to try Hawkeye DVR Cards.. just search the net.. Neugent is the manufacturer.. it's feature-filled yet very cost-effective..
  2. The PCIe bus is becoming the dominant interface on PC Motherboards nowadays. With this current advancement in the technology, the PC-based DVR industry was driven to adjust and adapt to the improving and fast-paced PC world. Thus, the entrance of PCIe DVR Cards into the CCTV scene. Okay, the PCI DVR Cards will soon be replaced by the PCIe DVR Cards. This is inevitable. But what are the particular advantages of moving to PCIe when it comes to the DVR Application. Yes it will cut the over-all cost because of cheaper motherboards but will there be improvements in the DVR system's operation? I would like to know.
  3. There are various reasons why we have these 2 different BNC port standards. Some installers prefer the built-in type due to durability concerns. They find the video cables easy to wear and tear over the months which will apparently call for replacement and they consider it costly. Another issue is the labeling on the video cables. Video cables that are poorly labeled may cause confusion should the labels be erased over their use. They may re-label them but it will look unprofessional and it's unacceptable. So their last resort is again to replace the video cables. Others, however, consider the pigtail-type more advantageous. For the DVR Cards, they believe that replacing the video cables is better and a lot easier than having to remove the entire DVR Card from the system to check the issue on the BNC ports. They will need to repair the hardware which will most probably leave unnecessary marks on the affected portion in the board. All the worse, the unit will be called for RMA. Now with the Standalone Systems, the ones that make use of video cables are obviuosly more compact. They are smaller in size since the supposed space for built-in BNC ports has been saved leaving a single DB25 port. Smaller size means lighter weight; and lighter weight means lower shipping cost per unit. What do you think? Which is better?
  4. Model: LP Series Hawkeye DVR Cards Manufacturer: Neugent Technologies, Inc. (Phils.)
  5. I must say Hawkeye DVRs of Neugent Technologies - superb quality, excellent features and functionalities, not to mention the outstanding sales and technical support.
  6. Failures of CCTV Systems to cut crimes and provide helpful evidences for police investigations are being reported on news; and are spreading over the web. This reality triggers the qualms on the reliability of CCTV Systems. Due to this fact, the concerned public can't help but ask and react. Do CCTV Systems really help us protect our personal and professional assets and properties? Or are they just waste of money? Do you believe it is a Win-Lose business offering from the CCTV Products manufacturers? That they are just making money out of the deals and not really taking the responsibility of providing the proper security solutions that customers deserve? Do you agree that CCTV Systems don't really work as deterrent to potential thieves? And serve more like just decors to business and home facilities? If it really isn't helpful then why are there more and more businesses and residential structures requiring CCTV Systems be installed on their sites? Why do some government sectors of different countries enforce the installation of such equipments to private and public places as a law? A CCTV should work and perform the way it was designed. It should provide security and protection. As we all know, there isn't a single thing perfect in this world. A CCTV System may honestly fail at times but what's important is for us to know the factors contributing to its failure and how we are going to deal with it.

    The CCTV Reality

I do believe a CCTV System can perform to its optimum efficiency and effectiveness if the raw materials and equipments will come from a quality and reliable CCTV Supplier. Failures of the system can be prevented if it is to be setup and maintained properly. Still, I think it all boils down to choosing the best Supplier and Installer for the CCTV System.

    Geovision vs Kodicom

Exactly. I haven't dealt with any of the 2 brands before but have heard good reviews for both. K-engine compression? Still new to me. You might want to share some screen captures or images made by this compression.
