28 IP Cameras for a Convention Center with multiple monitors
jeromephone replied to crp's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
you should have a local cctv contractor help you with this. Not knowing how the building is laid out limits one's ability to help you. at minimum you are going to need POE switches with enough ports to accomodate all the cameras plus extras to hook up nvr or pcs as far as multiple monitors you could run ethernet extenders to push the hdmi signal to the various locations. It looks like a wiring job thatneeds be figured out first, as far as nvr or pc based you can get a 32 channel nvr but you may want to go with a couple of 16 channel depending on who needs to see what and the physical layout of the building. -

Is this for apartments. What are the security implications if a phone is lost or stolen? Not really an answer but just wondering -
Easy? Newbie Security Camera Cable Running Question
jeromephone replied to malmit's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
avoid running wire outside if you can find any other way it just looks crappy and the wire is exposed to the weather and anyone who wants to cut it. Don't get hung up looking for the shortest path the best path may be much longer. -
Anyone got any ideas as to what this is?
jeromephone replied to libram's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
you said you reterminated the cable did you test the cable for any opens or shorts? Also is it ossible you have a wet cable. I would try powering the camera on an individual power supply and see if it is still doing it.. a balun problem is possible as well. -
Tom's device will work at the dvr end as well depending on how you have things wired
-
We always use a powered splitter they are cheap and give you full signal to both monitors up to a couple of hundred feet.
-
look in the nvr manual and see if the system supports ONVIF that is a protocol that has been developed to address the issue you are having. Some systems will allow other makes of cameras but charge a license fee. Your best bet is to try and find an exact replacement on the secondary market if that model is no longer made.

just buy solid copper not CCA and make sure your connectors are correct for that kind of cable. I just checked google and found 500 feet of solid copper for 40.00

there are many cameras that support a sd card what about an IP camera fed with POE and then lock it down, strong password and even give it an IP address that isolates it from any prying eyes then when you have to look at it you can change settings and login. that way no physical card removal necessary and nobody on your network can see it or access it.you could do this with a POE injector and only pluginto the data side when necessary. We did a setup for a customer with a laptop a couple of cameras and injectors they then could install the covert cameras and check them from time to time without IT department getting involved.

Movement within video search
jeromephone replied to Scorpain's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Can you search by missing object also my NVR software showed a time line with motion areas in red. -
Check out the axis website they are showing a new radar type device to deal with this problem sure to be costly but might do the job.

Put the 300.00 toward a better lock or better lighting. At least you won't be trying to protect your property with junk.

T568A to T568A is still straight through as is T568b to T568b did you wire map the cable in other words did you use a tester that shows all eight wires connected wire one to wire one wire 2 to 2 etc all eight should be connected in this manner.

to repeat myself-- go with a supplier that provides support and a good warranty. If you have not heard of the company and you cannot get info on returns or repairs you are destined for problems. your vendor is at least as important as the product you choose.

Replace UTP cable with telepohone cable
jeromephone replied to mendax's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
what is air cable and I just looked on google and it looks like there are several sources for the 25pair. -
test the cable. and then look at the specks on the extender to see if it is within the lengh of the cable you installed . some extenders require two cables hopefully you did not staple the cable to support it as that is easy to mess up and damage the cable.

Advise please on inserting cable in to the house.
jeromephone replied to Lavender90's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
outside in drilling usually as you do not want to push the siding away from the house. You do need to measure so you are sure were you are going to come out inside. -
Replace UTP cable with telepohone cable
jeromephone replied to mendax's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Your best bet is to use cat5 25pair cable. that has a twist in it and can be used for IP cameras in the future and will work with baluns if you stay analog. I have not heard of 14 pair phone cable but that does not mean it does not exist. -
take a short bnc to bnc patch cord and plug the camera into the dvr if that works you probably have a connector problem. also look at and test your power connection. inspect the camera as well

whatever you get I would use a USA supplier that way you have tech support and a whole lot less problems with returns etc.

CMS doesn't login to my DVR locally
jeromephone replied to jimeowen's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
try using windows explorer instead of edge. also you may have to be in compatibility mode and possible in the trusted sites on explorer. -

Geovision NVR software PC Spec
jeromephone replied to CalifLove's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
look on the geovision website. They have detailed specks or what type of hardware to use with their systems. I think more importantly they tell you what not to use. I would upgrade to the latest nvr release as it is free. -

Geovision 12 megapixel 360 degree camera
jeromephone posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
We are making a proposal for a customer who has all geo equipment and they want to put a couple of 360 cameras in their gyms I am thinking possibley two per gym but have not used the product and would like some input on this possible solution. I would go with the 12 mega pixel version. If I coulod get by with one that would be even better
