Small IP-camera setup, problems with smooth stream.
jeromephone replied to JohnDoe51's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
are these the only things on the network the router is not connected to the internet or another router? Have you checked all the IP addresses. -
there is a setting called popup camera which takes the motion camera from the matrix view and displays it full screen for a set amount of time, it sounds like you have multiple or all cameras set as pop up cameras

Help with Troubleshooting RG-59 Cable Run
jeromephone replied to breda's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
for every connector you are possibly causing a point of failure. If the RG-59 had water damage to 40 ft it is possible it was damaged further up than that. Why not replace the whole run with new cable and cut down on the number of connectors? Are you running cable rated for outdoor with a gel filling? If that belden cable is not outdoor rated and you have all ready had a water problem you may be back in the same boat again. -
did you check the connectors I would recrimp/replace connectors at this point it could be the connector at the recorder end/

Help! Panasonic WV-SW316L RJ45 wiring
jeromephone replied to royenk's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
did you google the camera name and number for a manual ? A lot of times you can get a manual from the mfgs website and they may have a pinout. -
Many installers have no real picture of their costs. They as the other poster said you have to make a profit on your material and labor. Every miniute you are in business their is an something eating and it has to be fed no matter what. Insurance. rent, wages, cost of capital, truck expense, equipment, all these things are real and do not go away when you try to work below your costs. Another thing to consider is warranty and other call backs. I have yet to install a system that does not require some tweaking within a couple of weeks of install. Customer forget how to do playback, camera 4 needs to look a little to the left, forgot a password. etc Can you charge for this? basically a judgement call but the point is you will have things to deal with for the life of the equipment and the business needs to have the people to handle it as needed.

Getting Lines in CCTV Image - Diebold B/W 24v AC Cameras
jeromephone replied to Pugy365's topic in Security Cameras
looks like a ground loop which could be caused by any number of things I suggest you disconnect all but one camera from the power and see if that clears the problem. I would then start adding cameras in one at a time to see if it is a bad camera causeing the issue. If you have a separate wall wart power supply use that to test as well. when we do 24v ac cameras we usually use an isolated power supply so interference from one bad camera will not spread across to the others. read up on some other posts relating to this and look at some general info on the net which will do a better job explaining. Or I could be completely wrong! -
comment on IP config having to run cables back to nvr and this makes things complicated. As far as I know you would only have to run one cable to the NVR and use POE switches as needed. I just finished a small job that would have required running coax over a 1000 feet in an industrial building if we had not done POE with intermediate switches. It also seems you are sort of pushing the line between an ad for your business and providing info.

Are the monitors fed via coax and are we talking BNC outputs and Inputs ?

Bird Feeder Exposure Settings for DS-2CD2042WD-I
jeromephone replied to barney10080's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
look on some of the photo forums they will give you some tips on exposure setting ISO setting etc. your security type camera may not be the ideal way to get the images you want. -
not knowing the store layout and type of camera etc it is kind of hard to comment but I would say your quote is none too high. Wiring, working around customers, and store equipment all add time to the project. training time etc . You need to try and break every labor task down as far as you can. How long does it take you to terminate a jack or put and end on a cable. How long does it take to mount and focus a camera. How long is it going to take to run wire? What labor rate are you using ? Is it comparable to other contractors and is it enough.?

Hikvision NVR Abnormal Shutdowns
jeromephone replied to inforlonghaul's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Do you have battery backup or voltage regulator on the system. It could be a power issue from the mains. -
Viewing HikVision CCTV on Local Area Network
jeromephone replied to dtaluthge's topic in General Access Control Discussion
I have had the same problem you have to setup your computer and webbrowser with certain permissions and compatiblilty settings and in win ten you need to use explorer instead of edge. Your supplier should have a cheat sheet that tells you how to set everything up. -
Router Does Not Recognize IP Camera
jeromephone replied to BeatMaster's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
do you have the camera set to the same IP series for instance if your router is 192.168.1.1 with 255.255.255.0 is your camera set to something in that range such as 192.168.1.78 for instance? -
Set up camera's streaming settings?
jeromephone replied to alex06370's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have done a few school projects and I cannot figure out what you are trying to accomplish. You need to have recording setup so that you can catch incidents, just randomly sending video will not do that. So you have a fight and send 20 sec of video only ? Why not hard wire cameras as you still have to get power to them as well. multiple PCs or servers might be an option as even the free software from geovision will handle 32 cameras. -
SWANN NVR 7400 USB Extender that works for usb mouse??
jeromephone replied to grey1988's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I did this with another system that was about 150 feet away. You need to get a powered usb extender over cat 5/6. I tried it with the non powered ones that were supposed to be good for 150 feet but could not get it to work. Powered units are available for under 50.00 -
if it has a plastic case get a paint specific for plastic and plan on wiping down the surface with something to remove the tiny bit of oil left over from the mold release otherwise the paint will not stick so well.

My IP address has changed twice in 2 months by Comcast
jeromephone replied to jimmyv2017's topic in Computers/Networking
No IP.com -
many mfgs have a system that allows remote viewing over the internet with no requirement for cloud storage or monthly fees.

Hikvision DS-2CD2032F-IW with SD card
jeromephone replied to flipu2k's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have used a rebranded version of the Hikvision domes with sd cards and they work OK. The onboard storage works and you can retrieve video without a NVR. In my case it seemed a bit trickey to setup recording and remote viewing but that could have been operator failure. -
