  1. standard poe switch should work netgear for instance
  2. Yes that does show the plates pretty clearly however those look like European plates. In the US you have all kinds of fancy designs and artwork and not all states require a plate on the front of the car. US plates are also smaller and do not have the same black block letters and numbers
  3. Check out LPR cameras and related software. Reading plate numbers can be difficult due to many factors reflective surface on plates, placement. designs etc

New house, 7 IP cameras, some requirements

I would look at something different than ubiquity. I have two cameras and their NVR and while they work OK they are not megapixel and have no provison for a SD card. Ubiquity is much better at wireless and related equipment.
  5. you should be able to get cat 5 or 6 direct bury for reasonable price I do not know why you would need armored.
  6. If the gate control is part of a access control system you could put that on the network. and use APs to connect to the house. What type of connection from the building to the gate do you have? Are you getting power from the building to the gate?

New IP Cam - No Software

How much did you pay? You can buy cameras from US suppliers with manuals and software and support for around 100.00.

    Old Camera System.

guessing you have baluns on the orginal cable you would just need to terminate the cable with either a cat 6 jack or a RJ45 plug. I find the jacks work better but that does require a patch cord. Test and use the same pattern on both ends Usually B these days.

    New Hikvision Install

I would run the cat 5/6 as you would not need a separate power supply because you could run POE off from the NVR . also if in the future you wanted a higher resolution camera you could do that via the IP solution.
  10. look at this line of outdoor nema enclosures you can get them with fans or put you own fan in if you think you need the additional cooling http://www.l-com.com/nema-enclosures-14x10x4-inch-universal-120-240-vac-outdoor-weatherproof-enclosure-vented
  11. you could put the recorder in a box but it would need to be vented as well as weatherproof. How are you going to view the images from the cameras? where is the power supply or POE source.?

    New Hikvision Install

If running new cable I would go for the IP solution.

    network tester

just purchased a network tester for cat 5/6 unit does length with or without remote distance to short or open wire map with indication if failure is on far end or close end or somewhere in between. remote end beeps when it is connected. runs on 3 aaa batteries. The unit is labeled DBPOWER SC8108. The reason I posted here is the price around 50.00 I have paid more than that for a simple wire mapper. I don't know how long this will hold up but it should make finding cable trouble a lot faster than just using a regular wire mapper. We have had several cat 5/6 testers and paid much more for a unit that could preform all these functions.

    Outdoor rated switches

you can get some good outdoor rated enclosures that would house a regular poe switch we have used some boxes that cost around 50.00 ea that had a cutout for a duplex 110 outlet along with waterproof fittings to run other wires in

Looking for a BNC 12+ port wall panel, can't find...

Some mfgs make a 10 inch rack with blank panels etc that may help your space problem

    Trouble with No-IP and NVR

Did you try just port forwarding to the outside IP address to see if that works also check and see if your ISP blocks certain ports. I set up a port forwarding for someone and I could not port forward 8002 as the ISP had blocked it.
  17. do not splice it, but use a coupler I am guessing you have plugs on each end

    CCTV DVR to TV?

yes . Check out PI Mfg or search for HDMI Externder over Cat 6 and you will find several mfgs.
  19. Yes look up RJ-45 A and B pattern Make up both ends the same. In this part of the country we normally use the B pattern. As the other poster said practice a bit as it is easy to flip flop the wires. http://www.cablesplususa.com/pdf/RJ45-Guide.pdf

    CCTV DVR to TV?

you could use a HDMI extender which would use a single cat 6 cable. That would be easier to run and would boost the signal as well 30 meters with regular HDMI would run into problems.

    Avtech KPD679-D help please!

Is Avtech still in business. Last year I tried to get info on a couple of their push video cameras and got no response from the website and a forum dedicated to their products had no post for two years?

    DVR with seperate external HD

Does your system software allow for backup to another device and or your network? It would seem if you could put a NAS in another location that would be more secure.
  23. try a CMS system from several different mfgs. I know Geovision has one and so does Hikvision (at least I think they do as the cameras I worked with were rebranded Hikvision) That way you can view all the cameras on one pc and even look at recorded video. You would also be able to do most configuration and replay from the PC.
  24. Do you mean that the same company network is at both buildings? If they are the same all you have to do is put a POE switch attached to the network and give your cameras the right addresses.

    Cable lenght question

lets assume he is talking IP cameras then Category cable 5 or 6 would be the way to go. As far as exceeding the 100 meter limit I believe that has been cussed and discussed on this forum before.
