  1. If you could show some kind of layout it would help. If you do go to fiber you would need power for a media converter and a POE switch on the camera end of things. I would look at multi pair fiber optic cable and make sure it is outdoor or direct bury rated. I would have them install 12 strand at a minimum you never know what other stuff may run on ethernet and their may be a need to physically separate the camera traffic from some other devices.
  2. check the local fire code as well. All the different schemes to make this work will be out the window if your system does not comply with code. We did several schools and hosiptals and basically no matter how you prevented people from coming in you always had to be able to get out.

    Question about running RH45 plugs

the outdoor rated direct bury should do the job cat 5e is fine. I also get weather proof rj-45 connectors they are like the ones pictured but have a boot that completely covers the connector. use things such as coax seal as well.

    Splitting ethernet cctv signal

How about a KVM extender that would require one cat6 between your office and his and he would have the video, keyboard and mouse to control and view the unit
  5. There are several small cameras (pinhole type) on the market that would work someone even made one mounted in a floodlight. We have put them in what looked like a electrical switch box and they did the job. Axis makes a high end pinhole camera but that is IP

DVR and Screen _ Distance 110 Mtr

I guessed their was some reason they could not or did not want to move the DVR
  7. NO cables need to be protected should be outdoor rated if exposed, Dump this guy
  8. You can use the existing wire you would just have to install either POE switches or individual POE injectors. THis is assuming you are going IP cameras.

DVR and Screen _ Distance 110 Mtr

search for video extender. their are a lot of powered devices on the market that will extend the signal that far. if your device has a hdmi out you can get a hdmi over cat 6 extenders as well as hdmi over coax

    "Fear Monger" gathering

The way into a lot of systems is usually through someone forgetting to change default passwords giveing out passwords poor security software etc. Take as many steps to block hackers as you can afford and hope for the best. As long as their is a human machine interface their will be problems.

    CCTV POE Test Monitors

byte brothers for the poe info at the camera. For setup and focus just a laptop and and a poe injector. I used to have a pinpoint which provided a poe source and a net connection.
  12. I have used some Hikvison cameras in the past and may have a project coming up and wonder if I can get some info from this group. Firmware updates Do you have to do a lot of them or are they generally good out of the box. I know Geovision went through a period where there was a patch every few months and that got to be a problem. Longevity Do you feel the Hikvision holds up at least as well as competing brands? How well do they work with the various CMS software that is not Hikvision.
  13. seperate conduits would meet the code in this country. We were low voltage contractors and anything 110v or higher had to be installed by an electrican so my choice of words was off.
  14. the last avtech camera I purchased I was never able to get the eagleyes app to work over the internet and I got no response from avetech Not sure they are still in business this was supposed to be a push video setup never did work.
  15. Ask the electrician to give you the reference in the national electric code for that one. If running in raceway with high voltage you have to have a physical barrier. You may not get interference but if you get a short you could end up with high voltage on your low voltage wire either wiping out the equipment and or the operator. I do not have the code in front of me but I think you need one foot of open air clearance between low and high voltage wires. the cat 7 is probably 23 gauge so you might get some more load carrying ability.
  16. First point is the most important no code in Us would allow mains power and low voltage to be run in same conduit. Potential danger to equipment and persons. Once you figure out a way to separate the two either by a barrier or certain distance from the main then you can figure out the rest. Why not cat6 or 5 with IP cams and POE
  17. Try ADI or Northern Video among others

    Waterproof cat5 connection

PI MFG has such a connector as well as Panduit there is also a product called coax seal which is a tape like rubber seal.
  19. I have not ever had a problem with AXIS they are more money but they are very good quality. Good for large and small deployments. I wish the market would have allowed us to install all axis but cost enters into the discussion.

    Drone Detection Systems

Saw yesterday where Robert Duvall's neighbor shot down a drone over her property for some reason the owners did not try and recover it.
  21. look into using a couple of fixed cameras instead of PTZ if you have an area covered with fixed cameras it is always covered with PTZ you can be looking the wrong way or the camera will be in the wrong position if using a tour. PTZ seems to work best when someone is monitoring the camera at all times and wants to look at a specific area. For instance a security guard looking over a parking lot and sees something in the far corner and needs a better view.

Lorex 1080P bullet camera issues at night

can you check the voltage at the camera at night could be the cameras is not getting enough power with the additional load of the IRs
  23. I would try to stay with the 100 meter standard if you can. We have run over this distance and had no problem but we also ran into a place that had several runs over 300 feet that worked oK but the customer was having problems on other parts of the network. When we brought everything into spec the problems went away. Could have been something else but if you can stay withing the 100 meters or use POE extenders like veracity.
  24. the only cable on their website that appears to be solid copper with 18/2 stranded for power is right in line with your belden price. No specs given on website.

    RG59 Siamese cable quality

another curve cat 6 shielded? would that work ? fiber would solve the interference problem and is not too expensive per foot but you would need to terminate it and use some kind of media converter which would jack up the costs. What % of the job are cable costs?
