  1. wired is best but if you do end up going wireless I would look at using an IP camera and wireless access points such as ubiquity or similiar
  2. I have used the Axis and like them also.

Recording Timelapse videos on VMAX DVR

I did one of these on a medical facility and used software that allowed a frame grabber to be programmed to take a picture at a certain interval. You need that type of software (I will try and find what we used but google time lapse and framegrabber and there are a bunch. what I found is you need to be able to schedule your recording as you do not want long periods where you have no activity nights weedends etc. ALso the final product will have to be edited down to a managable size. We took video from a cameras for 7 months and had to get it down to about a 5 min video. If you want to use existing cameras you could use a powered video splitter and send the one stream to your capture device and the other to the security system I will PM you when I find the product we used.

    Seperate Screen for Each CCTV

If it is an IP system you could have all the video collected to a NVR but have each person log into the camera of interest individually assuming you are interested in live video the other way to do it is give each user an account on the NVR?DVR but only give them rights to view a certain camera.
  6. i would use the cat6 for everything as who knows what the next generation of IP stuff will need as far as bandwidth and speed. Think about what other equipment you may want to add and run spares. even if not terminated they may well come in handy for additional cameras or other equipment. I don't know if you have netgear in England but I have had good luck with their POE equipment and find the price pretty good.

    new system problems

while you are at it get a cheap wire mapping tester. If installing plugs it is very easy to get wires flipped around. You should be able to get a real cheap wiremapper for under 50.00 test every cable even new patch cords.
  8. could be a bad port on the POE switch
  9. It would depend if you have the recording set for motion detection or full time recording plus the frame rate setting could be different between cameras.

    Audio recording using DVR

From the looks of the unit it has two inputs so you would only have two channels to record audio from at the same time. Usually in the software you can choose which camera to pair the microphone with.
  11. look in the camera or nvr software often there is a page to setup users and you can limit the number of users as well as what those users are allowed to do.
  12. 3 , 4, 5 depends on code or environment usually not necessary to run in conduit if indoors. Many types of ethernet cable that can be run. plenum outdoor rated direct bury etc. Check out a catalog from General, Belden or other mfg. Usually 60% fill on conduit or raceway also more often than not it ends up filled more than that. Can run on outside of conduit depending on code environoment. Cannot run in same conduit as mains power wires. You can run your signal over fiber but would have to have power from some other source.

    IP address clashes

I know I sound like a broken record but how much did you pay or save buying these cameras? If you had spent a bit more you could get something with tech support provided and not having to go to the bother of learning chinese

Lengh of Cable for CCTV Camera

IP camera will need to stay within the 100 meter max distance as well to ensure that POE will work. You may be able to exceed that distance but it would require additional extenders.

    Advice on GOOD NVR

If you can get a NVR from the same mfg as the cameras generally you will have a lot fewer configuration issues. Depending on how much you have wrapped up in your current system it may be cheaper in the long run to go with a one mfg solution.

    avigilon NVR and speaker power

I would get the power supply from valcom they are pricey but the ones we used had two outputs so you could run a couple of paging horns from each power supply. I don't know about Valcom's warranty if you use a different brand power supply. Are you adding these to an existing system? I would look at the manuals carefully as these have a signal path and a power pair of wires and you do not want to mix them up.
  17. is your computer and the device on the same subnet? Set the computers IP address manually to the same sequence as the device and connect the two together with a cable (you may need a crossover cable in some cases) then you should have access to the device and able to program as needed. You can also try a different browser sometimes firefox works when IE fails to connect.
  18. Try the ETS website they have several solutions for microphone for NVRs/DVRs

Help me find the product I need

I can think of a couple of issues but don't really have a solution first issue would be power. How are you going to get power to a camera /device in a way that is explosion proof? what kind of connectors fittings will you use that will hold up to sewer gases and general dampness in a manhole. A camera or housing that can be used in these conditions will be very expensive. It would not eliminate the driving to various locations but it might be easier to develop a camera that you could insert through a special cutout in the manhole to take a snapshot with out having to deal with pulling the manhole cover. Again that camera would have to be designed to handle the environment. Something like a snake cam?
  20. Is this a wired camera? If so check connectors and test.

    NVR and IP cameras

you will have to do a research as the previous poster said. Some NVRs will work with their cameras but require a license for other brands some cameras are not compatiable with certain mfgs of NVR. Go to the websites of the brands you are considereing and look for a list of compatible cameras. There is supposed to be a universal standard but it is not universal yet. (ONVIF)
  22. my guess would be that the free software that many different cameras mfgs supply would be to push sales of their hardware.
  23. Not everyone likes it but Geovision does have nvr that has many features and if you use their cameras there is no license fee. Look on their website and you can download the nvr software as well as other info. We used a lot of geo over the years mainly due to licensing fees from other brands would put us out of contention on bids.

    Cloud Storage recommendations-specific companies please

not exactly what you are looking for but Geovision has a line of cameras that are saved directly to the cloud and you pay a fee depending on how much storage you need.

    Disk storage space low detected

I have run into a problem where there are old files left on the harddrive if the number of days setting was put into effect after the files were saved. I would run a delete and go back a year or so and see what that frees up.
