16 Camera Install Charge
jeromephone replied to donverse's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Three months for 16 cameras ??? I would talk to an electrican who installs conduit on a commerical basis and they could give you an idea of how many hours it should take. We don't install conduit because most jobs the electricians do it I would think they could get 16 runs out in a couple of days don't know for sure because not enough details. Biggest mistake I see with conduit is useing too small a diameter to save a few cents and then you can't pull through it well. we usually figure an hour per inside camera to mount and focus and around and hour to two hours to pull the cable depending on type and other factors add a little time for termination 8-10 hrs for server setup and training. labor rate is your call. -
This is a big enough mess to warrent a full rewire. I would look at possibly using baluns and run seperate power wires. You could also look at changing out the cameras to IP and terminate everything on rj45 or jacks and use a POE switch for the power. If you were to reuse the existing wire and clean it up it may help offset the cost of cameras etc. If you are never going to IP use the existing wire as a pull and install siameze rg59/2 18ga for power. that is kind of step back however

we would need 2 cameras and one microphone. price point would be basically the software costs or if someone has a stand alone unit I would need that as otherwise I would be supplying the pcs and cameras power supply etc.

We are still using it but the last three servers have been a problem. I have been having problems with saving recorded events along with audio. Live audio is fine recorded is a mess.

I am having a struggle with a system that has two geo nvrs both have crashed and my supplier has provided me with a spare and replaced both units at no charge. The customer and I found that there two UPS liberets were having problems as well as a possible ground problem. They replaced the UPSes and last week they had a surge/power outage and it took one of the servers out again. I am thinking of putting a tripplite voltage regulator between the servers and the UPS. WIll that cause a problem? I also want to have the voltage monitoring software installed so I can see what the ups is doing.I know you should not put any other programs on the video server hardware but I have logmein on these units and this would let me monitor the power remotely.

Securing my home with an Access control system
jeromephone replied to wyattwic's topic in General Access Control Discussion
AXIS has a 2 door IP/POE system for around 500 that does not require software for up to ten doors. You just add and manange everything form the built in web browser. -
I am recording audio off from 2 cameras and a third camera with an attached microphone. On all the recordings i am getting audio that plays at the correct level but i also get the audio fading out even when I know someone is talking. I am using audio detection but I should not get the fade out when someone is speaking. I could go to round the clock but that seems like a waste of space. Geo 8.5.8 all IP cameras

Video signal split into 3
jeromephone replied to jst3712's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
yes the amplified splitter should work for you. The t connector deal will not work correctly as you will lose signal. We use these or something similiar and they work well for very little money. You should be able to extent the remote monitors out to at least a 100 feet. -
Connecting two Cat5e Cables together for IP Camera?
jeromephone replied to Ozone's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
a little more costly but put a data jack on each cable and connect with a patch cord. I just am not good at putting on the plugs especially on outdoor rated cable -
Viewing IP Cam W/O NVR (While still connected to NVR)
jeromephone replied to SB_Jim's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Try to ping the individual camera and then from a pc on the same side of the router as the camera and then see if you can get an image on a browser. The POE should have nothing to do with the ability to view it. -
How to get audio from GeoVision Cam
jeromephone replied to jobes's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yes you do need a microphone and if you want a speaker you need to add that also. Look at the ETS website as they make a microphone that is setup to use the poe to the camera to power it. -
ubiquity new line of high def camera
jeromephone posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I just got an email with a whole new line of HD cameras. Anybody got there hands on one or know where they are avaliable? The camera software was pretty good but their other bullet cameras were nothing to write home about. I have an apt complex I am working on a wirless network to cover the whole site and am going to use ubiquity and would really like to use their product across the board. -
ubiquity new line of high def camera
jeromephone replied to jeromephone's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Since I posted I did see the pricetag of the outdoor camera At that rate I can go to any number of different mfg. I was thinking they would be in the 200 range but I not going to be the pioneer at that rate. I also don't need another cpu hungry system as I have been having problems with geovision when using the mobile server and encoders -
Video Recording Settings (GV-1480)
jeromephone replied to treygleghorn's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Several things to look at size of harddrive you are storing files on, FPS of recordings, image quality. are you recording on motion only or full time. You also need to look at where your storage folders are. someone could have put them on the C: drive while your bigger drives say D are not in the path. Look in your manual or online manual for how to setup recording and storage -
My guess also, probably custom made as there is a punch kit, Greenley I think that lets you put in whatever size and number of holes you need.

There was a discussion on this in the dealer section which you might check out. Main issue is to be sure that there is a clear understaniding as to what is covered and make sure all the legal issues are covered otherwise they can be a nice steady source of revenue.

5.8 MHz wireless transmitter
jeromephone replied to Camomille's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
it may be cheaper to go to a nvr/dvr combination unit and just use IP cameras you would have to decode on end and encode the other end to use analog. I don't know if all your cameras are wireless or just a few -
how to change IP camera ip address
jeromephone replied to ricardasr25's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
hook your laptop and camera to the same switch set your laptop/desktop ip address to the same scheme as the camera. if you can log in then change to the settings you want for your network. when you reboot it should have the correct IP make sure you change your laptop/desktop IP address back to dhcp or whatever it was before. Main point here is isolate both the pc and camera from the rest of the network. -
Using Microphone with RCA input Q see System
jeromephone replied to JoshCCTV's topic in Security Cameras
I have found that setting the gain way down tends to help. We usually use a stand alone mic as some times the best camera angle is not the bet mic location. -
whenever you cable something it is important to use the proper rated cable. It is not only for code but the improper cable will fail and you will be back redoing the job. If you look at the major cable mfgs websites you will see hundreds of different types of cable for specific applications and ratings.

Picture quality on the ebay cheap DVR's
jeromephone replied to 0081's topic in Digital Video Recorders
As the price for analog dvrs is getting quite low and there seem to be specials on name brand equipment every day I would look at upgrading through a dealer and you will have warranty and tech support if needed. -
we use the cmp bubble system and have found it to be better than the crimp style we do some crimps on existing stuff but most of the time we have found the cmp stuff to work well
