NVR Software - GeoVision Camera
jeromephone replied to marley1's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I hope that is true we have had many issues with 8.5.7 and are also looking at an alternative luxriot will work but it is paid software. -
I may be reading this wrong but what the threshold is the amount of free space on the harddrive before older files get erased. You usually increase this a little so that there is room for temp files to be stored. Making it very large will reduce your storage space on the harddrive you can also set days of storage to allow for more free space on the harddrive.

Maybe could probably have a small electrical service installed meter etc for what all the cable and special connections are going to cost, then you would have no power problems and could go to wireless etc.

we just got the new AXIS access control hardware. POE and handles two doors for the basic unit. I like the fact that it has builtin software, and you can scale to ten doors without adding additonal software. Set up the first unit and when you add the second unit all your users are transferred over.

I need to be able to record activities in a dental office they want to be able to go back and view/listen to the conversation maybe as long at 20 min or so. Teaching training type of thing. I have looked at exacq and luxriot but cannot tell from the demos if this will work. I don't want to have to combine 5 min clips into one file. Just be able to go back and listen to the time frame. looking at axis cams or something similiar. Have used ETS for microphones but a decent camera with built in microphone might be ok.

audio/video monitoring
jeromephone replied to jeromephone's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Thanks for the reply I have used milestone in the past and will download the trial version and see how it works. You are correct about the audio I like to use seperate microphone as the best audio pickup is often not where the camera needs to be located. The customer has warning signs about recording but I did not think about the HIPPA stuff. We are working on a secure texting system for a medical facility right now so I do have a little understanding of that. We do a lot of video in hosiptals but I am not sure how they secure it to keep it Hippa happy. -
i have a customer who wants to review what his medical professionals are doing. They want a camera and microphone in the room and then after the fact talk about how the dentist interacted with the patient. They want to have full time recording with audio and video they want to be able to look at a whole days recording without having to jump from one 5 min clip to another. The idea is they would have to keep only a couple of days storage. Does Axis software or some other brand allow for several hours long clips? I checked Geovision and it looks like even on constant recording the longest single file is 5 min. I know you can combine clips but they don't want to do that. Thanks

ptouch brother with the data com functions. We use the industrial grade tape as it stays on longer. When we do a lot of cables we use preprinted sheets with wrap around labels. Panduit has a product with software. The advantage is if you use two sets you can label at the end and at the box so you don't get the numbers messed up. also you are not paying guys in the field to make up labels. Amp also has sheets of labels that you can write on or preprint.

Audio and Video Recording Together
jeromephone replied to MCMETRIC's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Check out ETS they have a system for working woth IP cameras and they work well -
you now can tell who punched in by who has pinkeye
-
I would not say that but I have heard from several of my customers they could not get it to work. I would think a combo of card and pin plus most places put a camera on the time clock area and that solves the problem no matter what system you use.
-
not an expert on this but I would check around from what I have seen fingerprint readers seems to have many problems one that I had not though about is possible infections and some lower end readers have problems reading on a consistent basis.

get two nic cards in the server that way you can isolate the traffic from the cameras to the server and only have the traffic from the server out on the common network

Microphone + avigilon dome - what mic model to fit?
jeromephone replied to Maniek's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If you have audio in and out on the camera look at ETS microphones and audio equipment. many different products and very good price points. They have both analog and IP solutions -
Built in POE or a seperate POE Switch?
jeromephone replied to pipabix's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
We usually go to I7 if we think the customer may ever expand past 5 or so cameras if it looks like that is not going to happen the I5 works fine. we tend to load up on ram and put in a primary drive for software and seperate drives for storage. -
Looking for respected USA IP Cam and NVR Online Stores
jeromephone replied to pcmcg's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I know I always say this but look at the national companies ADI Graybar Scansource, etc. I know everyone has probably had a bad experience with one or the other but I find I get better pricing no problems with returns and if you buy this stuff there will be returns. For instance I sent in 2 cameras that were not working on Mon got a call two days later asking if I wanted replacements or credit no problem. If I am in a jam I usually can get advance replacement. -
I need a BNC or RCA to VGA converter
jeromephone replied to monster081's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
why not use a 1 in 2 out powered vga splitter? you wont lose quality and extra long vga cords are pretty cheap online. -
Go to the ETS website they have what you need specifically for cctv and the cost is very reasonable. THey have a kit designed for cameras with audio in and out. We have used them for a police interview room and they work well

Mag lock and strike standalone system?
jeromephone replied to ibrat82's topic in General Access Control Discussion
Check out your mag lock specks for what amp and voltage they reccommend altronix has a full line of power supplies for access. Remember the strike only needs a momentary power but the mag is drawing power all the time so you need a power supply designed to handle it. -
18 IP cam design
jeromephone replied to robert's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Ditto on the netgear We are using them and have had no problems. they have a couple of 24 port full poe check out there line as you may want to go 10/100/1000 for future. -
the system reserves some space for temp files so you may not have any room left for storage. Check the days of storage and recycle setup. after I see how many days I am getting on the harddrive I like to set number of days before recycle to something less so I always have a buffer on the storage dirive.
