I am trying to reduce CPU load and am wondering what is the best way to set up IP cameras Does it matter what the motion detection setting on the camera is (MFD-130) this is an all IP system. I set the motion detection at the NVR but wondered if the camera is sending video all the time reguardless of what the motion detection settings on the camera are. I am trying to reduce network traffic and CPU usage.

Look on the ETS website they have a kit plus a diagram that will show you how to do it with a camera that has audio in and out -
need advice on what wire to use
jeromephone replied to demj1308's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I agree if you can use the gel filled and check connections, meter the wire etc before pulling new. If you think you may be going to IP I would use a gel filled cat 6. -
Louroe or ETS if you are using IP cameras

Please need a help - two cameras in my office with audio
jeromephone replied to rashe's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
geovision has many cameras with audio and you get the nvr software -
I would get a couple of sample cams and try it. Most of the cams with Ir give you the option to turn it off and just use the day night function. IF you go with IR and don't need it you could always turn it on if conditions change or you might have some of the IRs on in some parts of the bar and off in others.

we have used Seon out of Canada for some bus projects. There are several firms with the whole setup. I never got that into it as wiring up the buses was a pain.

Burial vs Outdoor rated Cat5e in conduit
jeromephone replied to Wizz's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
We use a lot of outdoor rated in conduit as long as it is water blocking you should be fine. You can get water in conduit from condensation as well as leaks I would 2nd going to 2 inch as when the gound settles the conduit will flex and the smaller stuff becomes impossible to pull through. -
Advice for Law Enforcment interview recording eqipment
jeromephone replied to mateck8888's topic in System Design
The first place to start is find out what your state requirements are. Michigan has just setup new guidlines for interview rooms number of cameras type of video etc. We are working on an interview room setup that is incorporated to a cctv system but the interview rooms have special requirements so the video is handled differently. Be wary of some of the "features" if you can change anything on the recorded video defense lawyers are going to be all over it. -
they make underground rated RG-6 or 59 with waterblocking I would run that in conduit if you have no plans to ever upgrade to IP. They make a direct bury cable also but the cost of conduit may be well worth it if you want to expand.

This may be a dumb comment but can you get a temp electric service installed? It may be cheaper and more reliable to have a temp serivce installed Are there going to be construction trailers onsite? seems like the builders always get fax, phone, internet ,and temp electrical

Recommendation: 8 Port POE Switch
jeromephone replied to drp37's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Netgear has some good POE Switches as the other poster said make sure you get the correct number of POE ports. -
look at your power supply if you have analog cameras we had a site that did the same thing cameras recorded all the time turns out a bad camera was backfeeding into the power supply and causing enough distortion to trip the motion detection. We usually use isolated power supplies on analog cameras but this was an older install

I have two geovision system on I7 win 7 boxes with 8 gig ram. latest software Systems are only a couple of months old. I am having problems with the geovision system hanging up I get a frozen screen and have to do a hard reset of the system as even the ctl alt del will not work. I see nothing in the system log these systems have 12 and 18 Geovision IP cameras on them so they are not maxed out. Both are on battery backup and I have the power setting to never go to screen saver and never power down the Harddrives.

The other issue is power over that distance. You will have some voltage drop so beware of that also.

CAT 5e external cable - Best way to fix to brick work

I don't know code for UK but I would run outdoor rated cable and run it conduit if possible. Running exposed is not secured and it looks non-professional. -
Video wall for Control Room
jeromephone replied to manikhadka's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I don't know if we are supposed to mention vendors but I know that both Inter-Pacfic out of Chicago area and Black Box have video wall solutions -
I have in general had no luck with win8 for camera systems or access control systems. I can still get win 7 machines from CDW and keep using them on geo installs for as long as I can. Win8 degraded to win 7 can sometimes be a problem as the drivers on some hardware are not really designed to run on win7.

Is coupling cat5 cable ok ?
jeromephone replied to jmcu's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
If you ever get a chance to repalce the cable use outdoor rated and try to have no splices. -
I7 server and 8 gig of ram at least 4 terabyts of storage. Their webpage has detailed pc speks. You can run 32 IP cameras on one server but that tends to max out the system.
