Send Video Signal through Coaxial Cable
jeromephone replied to george_cc's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
A powered splitter 1 in 2 out should be around 50.00 and then you will have no problems with weak signal to both monitors. -
probably a marketing ploy. Why would a camera with 1000 lines first show up on ebay and not being resleased by a major mfg. Look on several older posts on what camera lines of resolution really means.
-
Why did you not just buy cat5 or 5e in the first place? just wondering as that cable can be found pretty cheap and then you know it will meet the current carrying requirements> Plus it is "standard" cable designed for off the shelf jacks and plugs.

The CCTV nerd Fantasy Football / General football thread

long suffering Lions fan (sort of give up on them about Oct 15.) The 0 and 16 season was actually a fun one to watch. They were able to figure out some creative ways to lose. -
You can get decent analog cameras for under $100.00 Forget the ccs for cctv. 75 ohm standard stuff.

I know this is a basic question but I have just looked through the manual and it does not really say for sure. I have a camera 5 that I have on a recording schedule it apperars to be setup correctly with the different color lines for record io etc. Does the schedule override the settings at the camera ie motion detection? I have the schedule set up for motion detection as well. When I looked at the video logs from yesterday it looks like stuff was recorded during the time the schedule was supposed to be off.

To belabor the point buy stuff through authorized dealers/channels. Warranty, tech support, and in some cases training. Do you really want to trust a 5 year old computer and a card of questionable orgin for security? If you don't want to spend the money on a PC based system there are several stand alone DVRs that work great. We happen to use digital watchdog for our small analog installs and they work great. For 70 dollars you have probably purchased a few hundred dollars of trouble. Money that could be spent on a brand new complete with warrenty DVR that will do everything you want.

Surveillance camera to computer
jeromephone replied to evolxs's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
you should be able to find something for around 100.00 look at some of the banner ads on this site plus ADI and Scansource, Tri ed often has specials that should get you a camera in that price range. -
Surveillance camera to computer

I don't know about night owl but a regular analog camera can be recorded using any number of devices such as grabee just google "analog camera capture for PC" -
yes it can be a problem you may need an extender to push the HDMI over 15 feet or so.

I recently installed a GV-decoder box and am running mobile server on the NVR. I see all the cameras on the TV attached to the decoder but I cannot get the matrix view I setup using the mobile server software on the NVR. I did change the command port to 10000 like the manual says. I see on the decoder box where loop play is highlighted in yellow but there is not an option or I don't know how to get to it to get the matrix view.
-
Well I figured this one out with help from USAVision. at this point you have to choose from loop view or matrix view no switching back and forth. There are several gotchas on this device that I hope they work through as the pictures are great when displayed on a big screen TV.

Fiber multi strand 6 at min. Go either 50 micron MM or SM either should work but you want to avoid a bunch extenders and such. We have used the veracity stuff and it works but total cost of ownership is going to be less with fiber. An RFID card and pin code should give you all the security you need fingerprint and retina scan sound cool but they are not without there problems.

I would run the 18/2 or 16/2 depending on the distance from the power supply. That way you will have less voltage drop at the housing.
-
Geo has software that allows you to view multiple servers/cameras as one view you can customize by taking cameras from different servers and putting them into a single matrix. I think it is command center but check their website and they have a couple of different products to do this.

Aiphone JKS intercoms
jeromephone replied to Jim Barrett's topic in General Access Control Discussion
One thing to watch out with Aiphone is when you order and intercom it typically does not come with a power supply and their power supplys are specific to the product. In the last week we have run into a unit that uses 12v AC, 24vAC and 18 Volt AC. As far as wire never any problems if we stuck with the proper sized wire and used shielded or unshielded as called for. -
Remote cameras, no power or internet...
jeromephone replied to HiddenMountain's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
what about a trail cam Cabelas has a ton of different options and you can get them battery operated. -
ADI has it with a jacket what is the use for the wire we only use this for door contacts You also could look at telephone cross connect wire which is 24 ga but is cheap and may carry the current you are looking for.

Enclosures - Who makes or sells this one?
jeromephone replied to icamera's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
look in the Mid atlantic website or rack mount enclosures it may not be the exact one but they will have something close -
You need to stay within spek even if using POE Plus because you have to factor in what current draw the camera has. We ran into a couple of axis cameras PTZ that were within speck but had to have seperate poe injectors to work correctly. Look on the computers and networking section of this forum there is a lot of info on port fowarding, ddyns etc to enable viewing over the internet and via mobile devices.

I saw a similar problem on some tv show or something where they figured the footage had been tampered with because they copied over some video to fill in the time gap but someone was smart enough to see the same housefly at the same time and same place for two nights in a row.

I have seen Ethernet stretched to 600 ft and it worked the issue is how does the whole network function with out of length runs. If it is at all possible keep withing standards as the next generation of Ethernet equipment may be even less tolerant. IF you are running POE you want to keep within the limitations or you may start having your problems with low power at the camera.

Running twisted pair cable with NYY 3X2,5mm in the same tube
jeromephone replied to chrisdiak's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Do not run high voltage in the same conduit. As the other poster said it is against code. Interference with the video signal is one thing zapping yourself and/or the equipment is the other possible outcome. -
You don't always need top of the line stuff but you never need bottem of the line stuff. main things we look for in a supplier are support, return policy, delivery times and price. We don't want to be ripped off but if the supplier is within a few dollars of the lowest unknown merchant we will always buy from the favored supplier. We have found the more business we do with one vendor the pricing sometimes is even better than we can get anywhere else.
