Public view monitor with IP camera

I will check that monitor out has anyone used them and are they compatible with axis software?

Public view monitor with IP camera

The NVR is located in another building and they want to stay axis if possible I don't quite know why as they are specking non mega pixel cams for the rest of the project I suppose that is what you get when the IT folks take over the world. The ideal thing would be a public view monitor with a built in ip mega pixel camera.
  3. The best solution is the outdoor rated cable even if the uv does not get it any water getting inside can cause a problem the outdoor stuff has a gel filling the blocks water from wicking through the cable. Painting the cable might help with the uv problem but wont help if there is a break in the jacket.

Opinions on this camera please Vitek, VTC-IRE70/650

We have several of these installed with no problems however like most Ir cameras the IR range will not be as advertised.

    Using CCTV to create Timelapse

I have done this a couple of times and I think the main thing is to get plenty of frames and then edit out the ones you don't need I think we set up for about a picture every minute. Making the movie was more about getting rid of extra prictures as at certain times of the construction project not much happens outside. We edited out rain days also. I would also back up your captured photos on a regular basis. Kind of hard to explain why you missed something important

    preventing ground loops?

I would use a multi output power supply (Altronix) and use the battery for backup.

Geovision IP cameras eating up to much storage space?

check at the camera and make sure you have motion detection you have various frame rate and other quality settings you will have to set frame rate down from max. This should be done at the dvr/nvr for the analog cameras as well. Storage space is always a balancing act as while IP cams give great pictures they do generate large files.

    Geovision Card Recommendation

I would go with the DW rather than try to figure out what is wrong with the card. If you do stay with geo I would scrap the old card and buy form a legit source.

    Percentage of cameras sold

Anyone know what the percentage of cameras sold in a year are: Analog IP HD IP HDCCTV ( The coax solution) not writing an article or anything just wondering as I suspect that analog is still selling well.

    Percentage of cameras sold

I asked this last year but wondered if anybody has anymore input. I would say we are about 80% IP now and most analog work is replacement or adding a camera or 2.
  11. In general what is the "proper" way to setup for motion detection recording. If I set up the camera to detect motion does that mean that no images are being sent to the NVR or do I set both the camera and the NVR to motion detect. I am looking at this from a geovision IP camera/nvr system. When you set an IP camera for motion detection what does that really mean. I have not tried it but would that mean if the camera was set to motion detec you should have a blank screen until there is movement. If you could set it that way seems like you would save some hd space.

    motion detection

Then would setting motion detect on camera side help a geovision system as from what I have read on this forum Geo uses a lot of cpu power. WOuld you be able to tell the difference between two systems one running detect from the cam and on running detect from the nvr? harddrive space is cheap but I still like to search through as little data as possible.
  13. never heard it used other than for patch cords.

    CCTV tester

Your most important tool is the test monitor if the picture looks bad at the camera end most of the time it is the camera. I would also get a color bar generator. The portable ones only run about 60.00. plug in at cam end see what pic looks like at dvr end plug in at dvr end see what pic looks like at cam end. good pic at both end probably eliminated cable problem.

    Cheap Cameras: Opinions?

Ok are you buying smoke detectors from the flea market cause you can get them for 2.00 they may not work all the time but you got a deal on them. Did you tell the contractor or real estate person I want the cheapest bottem of the line materials you can find. If I am going to the trouble of putting up a camera I am going to get the one that does the job. If you have a problem (especially at night) and you get crappy video it will not allow them to ID anyone. How much of a difference in your yearly budget is purchasing a 150.00 camera vs 20.00 ? I don't mean to rant but I am sure there are others here that can reccommend cameras for not a whole lot more that will actually work.
  16. I had to email them and they sent me a password be sure to tell them what you have. Once I got the password the client worked fine.
  17. I would for sure put in two drops where you are going to use one. I would go to cat 6 as the new standards that are coming out will be to increase the POE capability. Even though cameras are currently only running 100 meg who knows what the next generation will be or even what kind of equipment. I would run a couple of drops to the kitchen your fridge is or will soon be a network device.
  18. Is there any advantage of activating motion detection on the camera vs the recording device. I have always used the recording device but more and more cameras analog and IP have that option in the camera software.
  19. I have a potential job that is going to be all IP cams but they are thinking about a PTZ has anyone used any of the IP mega pixel cams and if so do you think the difference is worth the extra money I think the axis HD may be out of there budget. This would be in a marina /beach.

    Geo on a virtual server

We have a customer who insisted in putting goevision on a virtual server all IP cameras of course. Has anyone done this successfully? I don't know all the details but the unit has both geo cameras and some Axis cameras and is using the usb license key.
  21. I tried one of ubiquiti cameras and was not impressed it is not megapixel I did like the software but the camera is not much all the other ubiquiti stuff is great especially at the price.

    Migrating off of Diamond II

We have had good luck with keyscan on multiple building installs the limitation seems to be the fact that a card can only be in two groups on one site. We have currently about 4000 cards and the security officers can see door status and can unlock or lock any door on the system in any of the buildings.

20 IP Cam New Install - NVR Software Recommendation

we have used a lot of geovision software and some of there IP Cameras If you use there software you don't have a license fee per cameras the flip side is very few other NVR makers fully support Geo cameras.
  24. Why would you want to do that? using No IP or dydnds they can just go to the address and view their cameras not to mention the many aps that allow viewing to a smartphone.

    HID edge and Infinias sytems

Never tried Infinias with other than a single building project. Did not experience the problems described above. Have been using KEyscan on larger multi building projects. They now have a single door IP controller that makes the product more flexible.
