Questions for you PRO CCTV Intallers..?? Pay? Misc? Q n A?
jeromephone replied to johnny916's topic in Test Bench
3/4 drywall screws a must if you are mountng equipment on backboards most of the time it is 3/4 plywood and longer screws can dig into the unlayment which may be metal or block which can pull the plywood off the wall. -
In some ways analog is like the fax machine. You don't use it as much as you have in the past but you still need it because it is easier to use for an existing paper document rather than scan to a file and then email. Plus lots of people still have them. However in certain instances and more often each day email or texting is the preferred method. Cost will drive analog for a while as mom and pop may not want to spend the money to upgrade or don't/can't do the networking part. We have a customer with about 200 analog cameras installed all new installs are IP however when we are looking at outdoor PTZ cameras we may remain on analog as our hybred system allows that (using geovison at present)

Neat job the customer always has to put the odd patchcord in the middle to mess it up. Just for info did they have you ground all the equipment and cabinets? -
Remote Trigger to Release Lock
jeromephone replied to MasterVision_Tech's topic in General Access Control Discussion
Does the customer have a phone system. Most systems have a provision for a doorbox that trips a relay when a number is entered -
my dealer works with me on this type of problem. I get something doa THEY do a advanced replacement if it something critical. I try to stock replacements if I can but that is difficult as so many products come and go. Like the previous posts Its the dealer if he wants the business he should send you and advanced replacement when possible. This problem is why we only use a few suppliers we hope to do enough with them to make it worth there while to take care of us

Advantage and Disadvantage or PoE in a CCTV system?
jeromephone replied to 1337.807's topic in System Design
The only issues we had with outside POE cameras was the power limitation of the switches I solved it by adding a second POE switch so both were only drawing about 75% power. We were using Goevision outdoor bullets and the problem arose when the IRs kicked on. -
Advantage and Disadvantage or PoE in a CCTV system?
jeromephone replied to 1337.807's topic in System Design
The only problem might be too big a load for the total output of the switch. also some switches have different power output on certain ports. First four may be max output and the rest 1/2 of that. -

4 Camera one Cat 5 Cable and power any one Done? Issues?
jeromephone replied to AndyA's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
If you can replace the wire I would put in cat 6 it may be overkill today but who knows they may want to go to IP and you would be all set assuming the runs are 300 feet or less. If you do reuse the wire take the time to label everything. When you come back two years from now you will be glad you did. -
I do't know if this is the proper place to mention it but a new user has placed spam ads in every sub-forum they can get to on this site. BASHA?

IP Cameras Spot Monitor
jeromephone replied to cwkamms's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have the veracity battery and the pinpoint device that lets you use your laptop the pin point lets you plug in a POE device and view the camera for focus. We usually have the POE switch installed before we do the final setup we use the pinpoint more often than the battery. -
is there a way to use your media adaptors with a short fiber patch cord and then view it through the media adaptors at the antenna site. That way you could see if the media adaptor near the antennas is the problem.

I noticed the other day there are a bunch of sr citizens loitering around the mall an many seem to be walking in a deliberate pattern around and around does this device come in a low frequency model that will deter the frost tops?

We may have to provide a wander control system into an acess control system. This would be an elder care facility. I have looked online at a couple but wondered if anyone had done this before the acess control system will be either Keyscan or infinias.

Anybody know about this software? I saw and ad in Security Director News but no details just a picture and brief description.
-
I talked to the factory and they said the info would be released at at the asis show this month. As a side note Keyscan tech support is great we have never had a problem that they have not been able to walk us through!

Dome Camera Exterior Stucco (Cinder Block) Mount
jeromephone replied to MikeInTampa's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
wall dogs or tapcons Just don't overtighten. -
We just a new geovision GV-800-16 with software 8.4 it would bog down after a second camera was added. We checked with our supplier and he tested different cards and had the same problem. Apparently their is a driver issue with that board. Just a heads up for anyone having a similiar problem. 8.45 was the number stamped on the board.

RJ45 Splitter splitting P.O.E?
jeromephone replied to SS360's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I have the point source and the pin point. You can get by with just the point source. focusing IP cameras is a whole lot eaiser just plug into the camera and setup with a laptop. I like the 4 port power adaptor it will make some difficult cable runs doable. -
We installed 80 analog pano domes 3 years ago and have not had to replace a single one. Put a knock off next to a name brand looking at the same image over a 24 hour period and see what the difference is. Is a 50 dollar camera really cheaper than a 150-200 dollar camera? Maybe if you don't care what the image is or how often you may need to change camera or having a place to return/ service the equipment.

I think ACLU is bringing some legal action on those devices. Something along the lines of the right to peacefully assemble. As for cell phone jammers you could get caught in a federal rap as you are purposely causing interference with a communication device. I do wish they made one that would cause the cell phone to fry when someone I am talking with face to face deciedes to take the call and not just let it go to Voice Mail. Be nice to have a hidden destruct button you could push and watch the phone go dead.

I have been busy but hope to work on this next week and will post findings. we have no virus check on these units and all files are recorded to other drives.
