I have two geo system Gv-800 and gv1200 one is 16 channel and one 32. These system both ran fine for about a year now they are running extremely slow. I have checked storage space on each system and it is adaquate. I am thinking of increasing the memory but am not sure if that would help everything functions fine but is extreemly slow a reboot to the geo system takes about 8 min but when stuff finally comes up it is OK but the frame rate of the live view seems choppy. What should I be checking? Thanks for any help.

Coxial RG59U underground work.
jeromephone replied to sovan's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
If it is underground you should use direct bury or outdoor rated cable as the conduit will get moisture in it. The direct bury and outdoor rated has a gel in it that stops the water from getting into the cable. Any break or nick on standard cable will cause the moisture to wick through the entire cable. -
Congrats Remember how happy you are today for the next 18 years. This will be the biggest job you will ever have!

WEBRO BSKYB TWIN SATELLITE CABLE For CCTV Cameras
jeromephone replied to bornnslippy's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
no some of the twin cable has a copper plating over steel -
run the wire if you can hardwired will be simpler and you not have a wireless bridge to maintain. Should get more through-put on a hardwired connection

Keyscan system erroneous misreads
jeromephone replied to SDM Group's topic in General Access Control Discussion
make sure you do a full upload to all panels and data. Make sure that it all takes. Check the group setup also we have had more problems with the customer moving people around in groups and getting things screwed up. take a card that is reading but not opening the door and then run a report if it says access denied check that cardholders status and group membership. -
Time lapse video system
jeromephone replied to RedSq's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
We have done this a couple of times. We used a seperate time lapse program to capture frames and them stored them on a harddrive. The advantage is that you can set the frame rate very low I think we were at one frame per minute or less. You then use an animator program to make your movie. (Movie Salsa or Antechinus AudioVideo Processor)or several others Video was dumped to a onsite pc and to our office over the intenet. Pics are jpegs and I had to deal with 10,000 ot them. To make a decent movie you have to set things up to only record when they are working. Cut out most or all of the night and strip out the rain days . I spent a couple of days editing it down to a 3 or 4 min movie. Make sure your customer knows that this is not security one of our customers was upset when something happened on the weekend and we are not recording when no work is being done. -
Why some of the IP camera has 540TVL?
jeromephone replied to mujju_433's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If you take a regular camera and run it into a video server it is still and analog camera some of the older IP camras were analog cameras with a NIC card I have a couple of Bosh cameras like that they have a good picture but are still analog. -

What Type of Fiber Optic cables to Install?
jeromephone replied to sheriffa's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
multi mode 50 micron run at least 6 strand even if you don't need the spare pairs I would terminate 2 pairs at the install. direct bury or similiar. General cable, Corning have very good info on websites and printed catalog. Main reason to go to 50 micron is it will support up to 1000 mps. -
Rory your point is well taken. In this case they have 2 IT people onsite and a few that float from site to site. They also want a service contract to take care of all these systems as they don't assume that because it is IP they know everything about cameras and access etc. If we can sell and service either analog or IP we are happy and both have there place. HDCCTV can you say beta max?

I think we are moving to an all IP world and the HD on coax is going to be a hard sell. We just finished a job where the access contol is IP the Security cameras are IP the controls for the video presentation system are IP the phones are IP the hvac is IP the TV sets (flat panels are fed by cat 6 from a video server etc the whole building has no coax. I think that analog cameras are just fine and we are still selling more analog than IP but I cannot see going to a third product that has a good chance of becoming an orphan.

Barcode reader.....not magstripe
jeromephone replied to CHoffman's topic in General Access Control Discussion
RFID cards are a bit expensive but the readers are cheap and weatherproof. He may save money on cards but I would consider charging a deposit on the card. It may not be possible but it will be easier in the long run. -
I have a 32 camera geo nvr with about 15 geovision outside and interior cameras both gvmfd 110 and gvbl110d. server has 8 gig intenal memory and 8 terrabyt storage. for some reason I keep getting random video loss on about half of the cameras. I am running them poe off from netgear swithchs and this is occuring during the daytime so ifrared power requirements should not be a issue the cameas go dark for a few seconds and then come back up again. software is 8.4 with no analog cameras installed also no third party cameras either. Any help much appreciated

I Think they suggest regulating your diet to help the gout issue. I broke a toe once went to the doc and he said your toe is broken and it is going to hurt like hell but we don't do anything for a broken toe. It was not my big toe.

i have a cheap one that has you log to a pc I think it was under 200.00 We only used it once to prove to our landlord that they had the transformer tapped too high and we were burning up equipment at 134 to 135 volts. I have the unit at work. PM if you want the make and model I think we got it at MCM

We are old school I guess We will run cat6 for runs of 300 feet or less. That way if customer swithches to IP cameras they are all set. I still like to run a seperate power wire probably not necessary but I like to keep spare pairs on the cat 6. With a 16/2 and extra pairs on the cat 6 adding another camera should entail minimual wiring

problem solved. It turned out to be a bad driver for the NIC on the server. The unit was only connecting at 10/mps ur supplier got us another driver and now we are connecting to the switch at 1000 . What threw me off was the fact that we could ping everything and the IP addresses all looked ok but the NIC was causing the problem when all the cameras were going> I don't think the cameras were actually going out but the data strems got so clogged up the server sensed they were down. Thanks everyone for your help
-
Can you get to it by directly accessing it via a web browser? Also make sure all IP address changes are saved before you exit the session. after setting it up with a fixed IP address try to ping it that way you know that the geovision server should be able to connect to it

The network was completly empty at the time of the issue All cat 6 cable tested and certified Netgear switch POE Geovision server No other equipment PCs, servers, routhers etc. As an update we have installed a 2nd GEovision server and it seems to be running fine. It has the same specks as server #1 There is now more customers equip on the network but we are running on our own subnet and still have our own switch. Kind of a related question did anyone solve the problem? I am wondering about NIC card settings which I can check Tuesday We are going to swap cameras an see if the problem follows the cameras or the server

Bogen, Atlas Soundlier, all have various outdoor speakers -
I thought it would be a good plan to go with all geo cameras and us 8.4 for the NVR I am experiencing problems with low frame rates on the cameras > in other words I have to slow the frame rates down to keep from overloading the network. Cameras are the only thing on network at this time> I guess my question is on this or other NVRs with 32 cameras installed what are your typical settings for live view, recorded and remote view. I am running a single stream from these cameras. I can't change out all the cameras (they look fine) but I may want to change out the NVR software. Server Intel I7 quad 8 gig internal ram 6 terrabyte storage
