I would like to set up a NVR for demos. I have pana, sanyo, acti cameras and would like to show the customer side by side comparisons. Storage doesent need to be much as these cameras would only run for a couple of days. I am thinking 4 cams are probably enough. Is this the way to demo or do you just get a big flatscreen and hook directly into it? The problem i see with that is they will get a recorded picture that is somewhat different from the live view if it is compressed at all. Is there anything on the market that allows you to swap out cameras without buying a new license for each camera? In other words if I have 4 camera capability can I use any 4 cameras? Thanks

has anyone ever put together a spreadsheet or similiar of who makes what cameras? It the xyz camera made by x company which is the same camera sold by b company. It would be a great tool as the same cameras are often different prices. I think there must be a limited number of real mfgs.

I know I sound like a broken record but I like digital watchdog

I am looking for a cheap single door access system that uses cards or fobs and has some type of tracking. THey might expand to two door in the future but the expanability is not a deal killer. Exterior door to be controlled.

What are pros/cons of mounting a cam on an arm vs on wall?
jeromephone replied to SpyGuy10's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
i am not seeing a wall mount for this camera. I would look into a gooseneck with standard pipe thread you should be able to adapt to the pano with off the shelf stuff. Tape/seal etc the heck out of it -

sometimes using the bracket gives you just enough clearance to see around a corner -
We have run into a problem with the cms we have ver 8.3 running and have installed a couple of DVrs with 8.3.4. Everthing works fine on live view but if you go back to view recorded video from the cms you will get a green screen instead of video. The dates and file names appear but no video. I believe there is a patch according to my supplier.

What does everyone do about outside cameras and lightening pro. Do you boter with it on cameras mounted on the building? pole mounted cams? Also whose do you use? In the case of cameras in enclosures do you ground the enclosure? Thanks

if you use fiber be sure to use the outdoor rated or direct bury. Fiber will give you a huge pipe I would run at least 12 strand even if you are only going to use a couple of strands. I know there are some converters out there that will let you run multiple cameras over a single fiber. If you need only a pair terminate 2 pair as a failure or need to add and additional service is much quicker to deal with.

I just got in a couple of 4 channel units and am very impressed with them Price good i purchase through distrbution and think the good ones check out what they are selling ( At least I hope they do) 500 gig hd H.264 Vga out ( I like that as LCDs are cheap) easy interface ability to use a mouse instead of remote or buttons on front of unit unit has front buttons and mouse if you prefer to use them. loop through camera inputs small size backs up to USb and installs player at same time less issues than avi Anyone had any long term experience with this company or products I would like to hear about it. Thanks

model is the vmax and I made a mistake it does not have loop out on all cams. I am keeping one in stock from now on. I am hoping to try the phone apps and see how they work

DVR TO 3 TV'S SPLITTER PROBLEM
jeromephone replied to ANUPSINGH's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
google 1 in 4 out vga powered splitter you should get several mfgs. If the signal needs to be base band check out 1 in four out baseband splitters the problem is the same with trying to split the output from a PC to a monitor and a projector. If you don't have a dual card just using a Y cable make for a crappy singnal to both devices -
go to Keyscan website an look for an online demo. Many other mfgs have online demo stuff. This will give you an overall picture. on the fail secure /fail safe discussion you must know your local codes and better yet the local inspector. We have been fooling around with a door in a hosiptal for over a year trying to get the final say on what is acceptable to the user.fire marshall, electrical inspector and the archetech.

Stranded copper will conduct more power than solid. All your high voltage transmission wires are stranded. Again why not buy solid copper center on the rg59 copper braid shielding and 18 ga stranded copper? How much can you save by going with a cheaper marginal grade of wire?

We have a small geo 4 camera gv-800 that we are trying to use with a louroe mic and we are getting static/background noise. We have gone to the Louroe IF-1 interface and are using there mic but cannot seem to get rid of the background hiss anyone used geo in a police interview setting and if so what did you use on the audio side of things. Thanks

i think the latest electrical code calls for a seperate support for cameras mounted in ceiling tiles. Enrico makes a bracket that spans the grid work as well as an aircraft type cable to attach the camera to gridwork. I agree the quickest ways are either fender washers or toggle bolts.

I tell my guys to put cling wrap on the lens before they touch it. that way when they set it down it does not get scrached. (I tell them but I doubt they do it when I am not around) I have used the honeywell HD-51 vandle dome and it is fine, brand recogniton and priced well.

SOMETHING WRONG HERE !!!!.PLEASE READ

Seems like this forum should be the last resort for some of the more complicated problems. After you have worked with the mfg tech support. Also have you gotten any training? If you are in the buisiness, any business you need to educate yourself as much as is possible. If you purchased the equipment from a dealer they should be willing and able to walk you through most all problems. I have had several posts that have gone unanswered but it was really an oddball problem or when I looked a little closer I should have seen it in the manual in the first place. -
Slight Distortion in Video Feed
jeromephone replied to MasterVision_Tech's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I am a bit confused as to why you would run this combo of cable. If you run cat5 with baluns and a seperate power wire it should make things simpler. We try to look a job and think about how are we going to trubleshoot this in three years. A different tech goes to the site should not have to spend time figuring out what the heck these four kinds of wire are. We tend to overkill the power wire a bit and I like isolated power supplies when possible. I also figure if we are going to warrentee this install I don't want to go back and redo stuff with the costs coming out of my pocket. -
Anyone used this IP package that comes with 4 geo cameras and the NVR?
-
your phone system should support a door box you would haveto run one pair of wires but then when the button is pushed it rings a preprogrammed extension and or extensions the door box is actually and extension wiht limited capabilities. Another option look into an IP intercom Aiphone has one several others out there that way all you need is a network connection.

Vitek was supposed to have a camera out this spring have never heard anymore about it. If the major dvr guys come out with an add on card or similar I am not going to plan on going this route. If geo or nuuo has hybrid solution why not go to IP and if necessary for a great live view just loop out of the HDMI output on the camera (sanyo)

either the main switch took a dump and they have limed or no spares and or they have a cable cut going into main switch area. would not be suprised that the only have one feed in and out instead of an alternate cable/fiber path that they could switch to. Our local county wide 911 and county wide emergency service had a single fiber feed which got cut and put all those services down for several hours. They have since moved to a new facility and I beleive they have at least three paths in and out.

We like to buy everything from legit dealers. No problems with returns for doa stuff, tech support, no issures with warrentees etc. I we have to warrentee something I don't want to eat the cost of replacement if I got it from some off beat source. I wonder sometimes how many times a particular item has been sold on Ebay. Did I buy it and then find out it did not work and then to cut my losses put it back up for sale?

We are a small shop and my techs sometimes don't see the big picture (or the small one either) We stock 16/2 we use it for speakers, door strickes, camera power, etc it is somethimes overkill but for the cost difference I don't want to have to go back and change out a run because someone used 18/2. as far as using cat5 for power it would work by doubling up conductors but It just seems sort of non-professional. If i am setting up a ptz i will run siamese and use the 18/2 for control and run in a 16/2 for the power.
