gv system won't let you view log files until you reboot
jeromephone replied to jeromephone's topic in Geovision
I am posting an update of my viewlog pproblems I have been in contact with geo and they have the ability to log into one of the servers via the web client and I have set up a vnc for them to log into the machine. I replaced one server with a spare and have the problem server at my suppliers who is running hardware/virus etc tests so far no problems detected. What we did find was that this problem only occures when the server is attached to the customers network unplug it form the network and no problems plug it into another network and it still works fine. We still do not know what network setting etc can be causing this but the network connection seems to be key. any other ideas? I like to let people who are helping me how things are going as maybe the info may help someone else. Thanks -
Does anyone have access to manuals etc for some BOSCH outdoor PTZ cameras. These are around 4 years old. And the former supplier left no manuals with the customer. I have some numbers we got off from one of the cameras but I dont know if they are part numbers serial numbers etc. we want to run these off from a geovison server if possible but I need to find out what protocol they support addresses etc. Thanks

does anyone know about the weingard card that is shown on the geo website. It just flashes up when you first access the site. Does anyone have a beta card or something. We are interested in tying a keyscan to a geovision server to allow a card read to turn on an off monitoring or alarms etc.

I am looking for a small outdoor PTZ that is day night and has true optical zoom I saw the Nuvico does anyone know about it or have any other suggestions.

I called my supplier and he gave me the BOSCH tech support number and one of the choices is manuals so I guess I should have started there. Thanks for everyone's help and I will post if I get these working with geovision
-
Along those same lines we are trying to tie an access control system to the Geovision the manual says we can use a geo IO and relay board to shut off the alarm or recording feature on a valid swipe but it does not say how to reactivate it? I agree the features you are looking at would really help we have a customer who would like to get rid of his security company and just use the access control and geo but I am not pushing it as you say the alarm portion is a bit clunky

Ok thanks does anyone know if Geo will support that protocol I have installed some bosch cameras recently and can change them to Pelco P and they work fine. There was no contoller they ran off from DESCA dvr and looking at the setup on the servers did not give me a lot of info.

I may have an application where we will be using 4 monitors on one computer we would like to have a remote view geo up on one screen a bluenet ptz on another etc. Anyone done this and if so which video card would you reccemmend. I may get a card and put in one of my computers for a trial. Thanks

I have not had good luck with a vga y cable I have used a little vga amp that gives 1 in and two out I think they cost around $40.00 Well worth it especially if the monitor is located some distance away.

I have looked at a Ganz Zn-nh257n also any reccomendations on either or Thanks

I have a potential customer who has need of some bullet resistant cams/enclosures. They want to position them in various "high Crime areas" Has anyone done this and what do you use for transmission back to police station? Not sure I posted this in the correct part of the forum
-
Looks like we are going to do a pilot project in one neighborhood I will have to use some type of "MESH Network" Anyone done that before? ALso am still looking for some cheaper alternative to the deputy dome that is advertised as bullet resistant. Are their any mfgs who make housings for PTZs I have info on the box camera bullet resistant housings Thanks

I am experiencing a problem with a couple of different systems GV-800 and a 1480 I will be playing back a recorded video and a person walking across a parking lot will just dissappear usually right near the end of the clip I have set a post record and a pre record and am using 8 frames as a max on motion detection. Is this a problem because of the shared frames ability with the other cameras or something else/ I do have all 16 camera slots filled and cameras are on motion.

I am sure genuises in this particular town would rather go to jail on felony firearms rather than be caught with only a paintball gun I will post any info I get after my Thurs meeting with the city officals

CCTV / Access Control Integration ???? Need Advise.
jeromephone replied to kandcorp's topic in General Access Control Discussion
Keyscan will do this type of intergeration. We are installing keyscan in a school district as well as cctv. While the geovision is not on their list now they indicated they could write software to tie the two together is the demand was big enough. They do have a pretty nice software package for those DVRS they currently support I wonder about some of this intergeration stuff I sometimes wonder if getting too much info is worse than not enough. -
problems with geo 1480 ver 8 and 16 port audio board
jeromephone replied to jeromephone's topic in Geovision
Thanks I will check that My supplier may have not caught that. -
I have installed seperate microphones and they all seem to work ok but the audio seems to come out on the wrong channels for instance micro 7 is not active when you check 7 but is active when you check 11 all microphone works and cables are numbered correctly. I have tried yelling at the techs for messing up the numbers but that did not seem to help either

Any reccommendation for a dome(preferably) camera that handles a backlight condition. This is at a main entrance to a hosiptal which has some very good placement for facial reconiton but we have the backlight problems for most of the day. I can go to a box type camera but this is a fairly low suspended ceiling and I would prefer to go to a dome.

If you don't like Geovision sell something else. If you are selling geo why would you want to sell anything but the genuine ariticle. Support is the name of the game and if you are planning on keeping the customer you don't want all kinds of callbacks. I think the same goes for the computer components get the best, get the reccommended and you are going to have many fewer issues.

I have a geo 8.0 system with the 16 audio input card. I have set up the audio moniting and recording and activated all channels. My question is can you monitor live from the server or does the live monitoring only work on the client/webviewer? The customer would like to click on a camera and have the option to listen also. On ver 8 can you video reslolution be set to 640X480 the muanual says so but I know in the past you had to use a lower setting

I was in the local electrical supply store and they had a device that looks like a spring that you insert into pvc pipe and then you can use a regular conduit bender on pvc pipe. I have not tried it yet but it would save on fittings and give you the abililty to make those complicated bends. (Once the bend is made the spring thing is pulled out) -
I have a request to put some cameras in a welding classroom we ran a couple of tests and a just used a regular cctv 480 line camera and it seemed tp be fine should I do anything special to protect the camera other than make sure it is not getting sparks and slag on it?
