These are all over two years old by now I have about 60 installed for a single customer

I know this is probably the worst product in everfocus history but I do have a question these cameras will just be multi colored lines or almost completly black. I take them out replace them with real cameras and when I take them back to the shop they will run for weeks on end with no problems? Any ideas? I have checked voltage and that does not seem to be a factor. All are in a well controlled environment so temp extremes are not part of the problem. Any ideas?

I am having a problem on reviewing Geo files. The customer went to viewlog and saved the clips as Avi and then they were burned to CD I can view them fine on my laptop and home computer but they cannot view them on their office computer they have media player 9.0 and internet explorer 6.0 as near as I can tell the same as my equipment? The video is fine on replay and I have saved it using the geo backup and again the same problem. This has happened on a couple of systems. Both using 7.04 and 7.0

Multi-Office Proximity System
jeromephone replied to ChuckP's topic in General Access Control Discussion
i have limited expewrience but I know the Keyscan system can used like you are discussing you can get a 4 door system and software to connect to the network and manange everything remotly but if the network goes down the access control system will continue to operate until you are back up. We have just installed our first system and it works fine from a remote site pm me if you have any questions -
allow remote view but not downloading
jeromephone posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I have a customer that wants to allow certain people to view recorded video and live video from a geo system but wants to restrict their ability to save video to their machines I told him once they have the remote access they can save to their machines has anyone run into this before? The easy way is to not allow remote access but that is not an option. -

multiple cameras in a parking garage
jeromephone replied to jeromephone's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
thanks for the reply. Since I posted we have gotten some more info Servers will have to be in parking structure as running fiber for ea camera will be out of sight. we will run three cat fives for video extenders (1 spare) and then we will run one 6 strand fiber to provide a ethernet connection for the servers. We will be doing emergency phones also but we have an and additional conduit for that and we can run 25 pair copper for those -
multiple cameras in a parking garage
jeromephone posted a topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
i am quoteing a camera job in a new parking structure. we will have a closet to run the camera feeds into. The customer will also provide a conduit 1.5" back to the main building approx 300' (25 cameras) I am thinking of housing the server in the main building and connecting the cameras to the server via cat 5 cable. We would probably run a 50 pair cat 5 or should I look at Fiber? Any ideas on costs or has anybody had good or bad luck with a particular mfg> -
What PC's are you using for your Geo Systems?
jeromephone replied to libertysurveillance's topic in Geovision
We have our computers built by a local firm using the exact parts we specify. We have had good luck. When something goes wrong I don't have to get on tech support hold que and get into an argument with what is wrong the system hardware, third party hardware, or software. My supplier just shows up with whatever it takes to get the system up and running usually withing a couple of hours. I pay more than I would for a Dell but we pass it along to the customer. I agree with Thomas I don't want to be the lowest cost supplier I want to be the highest cost I can be and still sell product. -
We have a school job tht requires audio monitoring in 16 classrooms I am planning on using Loure verfact microphones hooked up to the 16 channel audio card my question is can I just use the microphones or do I have to get 16 base units and port the audio out to the geo card? I would like to get away from having to use the base stations if possible. Any suggestions for a different kind of mike if this does not work? Thanks PS the teachers welcomed video and audio monitoring in this particular school as these children have some serious problems.

If you are using a external third part modem check the modem's hardware settings you may be able to set rings etc from that as opposed to the geo software

Power Connectors - What to use?
jeromephone replied to joe4's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
We just used the ideal connectors but they are the 2 opening type they seem to be fast to install and give you a nice visual of the wire in its proper place -
we try to buy the majority of our wire in boxes if possible. Our main business is wire pulling network and phone cable mostly. We have a variety or wire racks but with boxes it is one less thing to have to haul to the job site.

Twist on bnc connectors wire stripping question
jeromephone replied to fas's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
PI MFG sells a one piece compression fitting BNC for RG6 I only mention this as it is about 1/3 the price of the IDEAL connector. -
I would not mess with the 20 ga how much can you really save? 18 ga is easy to work with and you can get a longer run without a voltage drop.

I have and older geovision gv-800 that shows video loss on 4 cameras in a row when I reboot everything is fine I am running an Altronics power supply and do not believe I am experiencing power problems. I am running ver 6.05 software everything appears to be set the same as all other cameras. Connections etc have been checked both power and video

I have some installs coming up in the next couple of weeks and I would like to have all the versions the same. I can wait for a while but I dont want to install some 7.05 boxes and then have some systems on 8 with the different hardware.

What? Meth labs in arkansas? Never! And they have cameras?
jeromephone replied to jisaac's topic in Test Bench
I live in a ****y in lower MI and we are the meth cooking capital of the state they find them in trucks of cars along the roadside and in a recent bust of a motel they went to raid one room and the people two doors down ran out because they thought they were being raided the bright side is they blow themselves up and burn their trailers down on a regular basis -
my take on IP Network load can be an issue Price of cameras tend to be higher priced with lower reslutoion than standard cameras Limit to a few cameras if wiring is an issue network down = security system down Does the IT dept want to be in the camera business Storage of images on network servers can eat up a lot of usually more expensive harddrive space DVR only one IP to manange and one traffic stream to control

We have used the costar line of outdoor cams with good success they are sealed and have a built in heater blower ( some Models also have used their envirocam without heater and have had no problems down to -4 F
-
look inthe viking electronics catalog online they should have what you want these units are basically an outdoor analog phone which can be connected to an existing pbx or programmed to dial a specific number when the button is pressed some have the strobe or blue light special. simple and stable

I have two PTZ cameras at a cusomers one is about 3 years old and the other is new I have them set at 9600 baud pelco P and they have addresses 1 and two I cannot control them from the same control board but I can hook up a seperate controller enter the address and it works fine. the supplier is willing to send me a new camera but changing them out will not be easy. I could use the geovision box but the customer does not want to do that. Any idea why the two cameras don't work when using the same controller?

cannot control two ptz
jeromephone replied to jeromephone's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
