Question on IP camera configuration.
jeromephone replied to borednerd's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I can give you and idea on the cash register camera. get a camera with a varifocal lens something 3.5 to 9mm that will allow you to have a narrow field of view. check out the lens info on the top of the forum section, -
Axis I think has the same 700 w capacity. In the axis and Infinias the data base is stored in the controller. You do not have to have the a pc connected to operate the door with some kind of reader fob card etc. You do have to have access to the controllers to add. change or delete users. or remotly control the doors. There are many ways to set up the door as far as restrict ingress or egress, most of the work we did was schools or medical and the rule was you always had to be able to get out. so you would have to card in on certain door but you could push a crash bar or lever to get out.

Have used both the infinias and the axis. I liked the axis as it supports two doors per panel and shares a database between panels. on either system depending on the current draw of the locks you can use the poe power eliminating the need for a power supply.

Hikvision NVR/IP Camera - send alert to network device
jeromephone replied to sanketgroup's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
the contact closure would not be sent over IP you would need a pair of wires to send or receive the NO/NC signal the alarm panel or other device. -
You can set up the users with permission to view only specific cameras so when they log in they only get the view assigned to them. You would setup the users on the NVR as to which cameras you would want them to have access to. Look at doing this through the web interface as well. as the cms.

it would work but if you stay with 100 meter standard you are looking at several switches I am not sure but I think the ethernet standard has a limitation on how many hops are permitted. Looking on the cisco website it apperars that 7 hops (switches) are allowed but there are all types of things to consider when doing this and they are only talking about certain cisco switches.

it may be cheaper to run a piece of fiber if you have power for the camera within 100 meters. I saw some fiber adaptors from ubiquity for 49.00 each so the costs of fiber vs all those switches may be a better answer. another plus is fewer points of failure.

Building a POE NVR system. Dahua, Hikvision or other brand
jeromephone replied to bigoliver's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Ford or Chevy ? the dealer and after sales support are factors to consider. I would want in-country support and dealer. If you buy a china based product and you have to send in your camera before you get a replacement. A process that could take months. -
Mac address of samsung ip camera automatically changed
jeromephone replied to tech101's topic in Security Cameras
I thought that the Mac address was hardwired into the device and is supposed to be a unique number letter combination that never changes. Is it possible some mfg has used a duplicate? -
RV Park CCTV system?
jeromephone replied to wassa786's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Not fan of ubiquity cameras I have used them but you will find they are expensive, low reslution for the money. do not have working sd card slots and In my experience really difficult to work with another NVR other than their software. Their mini NVR has no video out. I do think their wireless stuff is great but would stay away from the cameras. Check your state and local laws on audio recording as this could get you into trouble as audio recording is looked at differently than video recording. -
Want to build night vision system in my car - Help needed
jeromephone replied to phosedy's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
They used to sell wlhat they called deer whistles around here they were little plastic do dads that mounted to the front bumper. I aways thought this was a great marketing job. No body knows if they work and if a deer does run out in front of you they were probably installed backward. lots of car deer accidents in MI if you see the first one in time for sure there are three more behind it. I still think lights that give you a longer view would be a simpler solution. -
Want to build night vision system in my car - Help needed

would not a set of superbright driving lights like the off roaders use do the same thing? In some areas having a video screen in the drivers vision is not permitted due to distracted driving laws. -
Old Pelco DD08e211 questions.

well sounds li9ke you have a handle on it. Myself not being that techy I would try to avoid all the extra "stuff and just get a camera that can be controlled via the DVR. -
Modifying the pan function for a bullet camera
jeromephone replied to jusolson's topic in General Access Control Discussion
I would post this in the camera section for one thing. A while back a we were looking at building a plasma cutting table using alum rail and stepper motors. I would look into that tech as those units are controlled by PC software which you might be able to adapt to your use. The individual motors and rail are not that expensive. You might be able to use a rasberry Pi for your PC as it would only have to do a couple of things. Check out the maker sites as well -

That camera is not that old we replaced a lot of cameras in that time period and al lot of them had multi camera setups. THere must be another manual as this twelve page only address the physical mounting of the unit. THere must be a manual that shows how the controller is hooked up. I would look for a keyboard controller manual from that time period and it may show you how to hook up the RS-485 and set the protocols It is possible that the the keyboard controller sets all the parameters. I will look online and see if I can find anything here is a link that goes to a whole bunch of pages explaining how to hook up a controller or DVR https://www.google.com/search?q=ptz+camera+connection+rs485&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjd-7jGzozaAhVIXq0KHVo7BtAQ1QII4AIoBQ&biw=1366&bih=637 -
that card is a serial output card either RS-432 or RS485 I do not have the spec in front of me. So I would think you would not be able to use it as a relay.

jeromephone replied to ShaneR's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I do not know on this particluar camera but it seems their should be a way to set the camera's address other wise you could only control one camera per controller. usually the setting is protocol pelco p or d and address starting at 000- 200 or so. that way one controller can call up any of several cameras. Does this have an OSD or a manual? -

I have used the geo box with the geo system and it works fine. I am not sure how it would work stand alone. when you are setting up this camera you will need to know the address usually set via dip switches and what protocol it is set up for pelco P or D. I believe the serial protocol is RS-485. -
make sure that the onboard storage is enabled also. I have had some problems with setting up the motion detection also. It is a good idea to get everthing setup and then do a quick test to be sure it is in fact recording to the chip.

I used to have a lab that would chase geese all day. A lot of airports have dogs for just this purpose. They are great employees and love their work.

Problem with camera that keeps going In and Out???
jeromephone replied to cameraman2727's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I would try to eliminate the splitter even if you have to cut the cable and reterminate the coax so you have a straight through connection. any connector is a potential source of signal loss or problems. I would take the other camera and put it on a seperate power supply and see if that helps. It sounds like you have checked the BNC connectors but did you check the connections on the power supply and the camera? -
Adding a BNC loop to a DVR that does not have loop ports
jeromephone replied to Martox's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
you are correct you would have to match formats if it is bnc analog you would have to convert the signal if your monitor only has vga in. the splitter box will only push the signal out to your device not convertf it. -
Adding a BNC loop to a DVR that does not have loop ports
jeromephone replied to Martox's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
buy a powered 1 in 2 out (or 1 in 4 out etc) you need the powered unit to give you enough signal to power the remote monitor. they are cheap i found a 1 in 8 out for 49.00 these spiltter come in many different styles HDMI VGA and BNC analog -
which security camera brand is better?
jeromephone replied to Owenpizechina's topic in Security Cameras
pick a suppler/dealer that provides tech support and warranty. Tell them what you want to accomplish and they should be able to help you pick out equipment that falls within your budget.
