  1. Just to clarify. You are talking about the PelcoNet Net300? First, what Pelco is telling you about not working with wireless is nonsense. These products were orignally manufactured by a German company called VCS. VCS was bought by Bosch and Bosch has released new generations of these products. the Net300 is an old product. Our company was VCS's US distributor and became Bosch distributors after the aquisition so we have a lot of experiece with these products. We do not experience drop out problems from the wireless applications we are involved with. With your PelcoNet encoder units do you have the Live Video Auto-Connect set to Yes? You should and you should have this set to no on the decoder. This will allow reconnect if the connection is lost. There are also remote Ethernet reboot devices you may want to use to avoid going onsite for this. You should also consider the Bosch VIP X1 which is faster (use with VIP XD). Bosch also has environmentally hardened units now in the VideoJet X series. Alternatively, a much lower cost solution is to use the Vivotek VS7100 with the RX7101.
  2. The PZ6112 has an A/V out (line level). The camera comes with a cable that plugs into this port and splits out the audio and video on seperate RCA jacks. The yellow one is video. If you use a BNC to RCA connector you should be good to go.

    Mobotix

Mobotix cameras provide excellent quality video. Their outdoor models are particularly interesting because no environmental housing is required and since they are POE ready you can run a single cable. POE is normally not possible when using housings with heaters and fans (although there are now environmenal POE housings coming to market). So outdoor installation is easy. There are models with dual image sensors which can be stitched together into a 180 degree field of view. So you can get a lot of coverage with a singe camera. On the negative side, the cameras use either MJPEF or Mobotix own MXPEG, both of which are very data intensive compared to MPEG-4. As these are megapixel cameras they will generate a huge amount of data, i.e., bandwidth and data storage usage. We see these as very application specific cameras rather than main stream. They are expensive on a unit cost basis but provide compelling economics for many applications.
  4. You may want to consider using IP cameras with NVR software on running on a PC with a graphics card which supports multiple monitors.
  5. Great image quality. Very good PTZ functionality with joystick support. Great value compared to similar products on the market. Only complaint is cable assembly was not well thought out with the installer in mind.
  6. If only need one camera you may want to consider using an IP camera with onboard storage so you don't need to run any applications on a PC at all.
