chr1z posted a topic in Digital Video Recorders
I'm looking at replacing my crappy dvr with a Nuvico DV3 8-channel. I already have 2 500gb sata drives I'm going to throw in it. I can get that dvr for $1319.00 My question is... for the price is there anything better or is the Nuvico DV3 good? Thanks!! -

Won't that be a whole lot better than 720x240 though? Or not much difference?

I'm just going to be recording video anyway... no audio.... so I should be ok without posting a sign or something correct? -
I'm wanting an 8-camera setup... Thinking of doing several cameras with these specs (keep in mind I'm on a fairly low budget): 420 lines high resolution Sony CCD image sensors Durable anodized aluminum housing with sun shield Anti-burst color day and night camera Long range IR LEDs - 20 IR L.E.D. infrared/60 ft. range 20 Infrared LEDs illuminate even in the darkest areas 0.0 Lux with IR Weatherproof housing Adjustable bracket for wall or ceiling mounting 3.6 mm lens for a large coverage Excellent for outdoor use (-10~50 C) Advanced Digital Signal Processor(DSP) for image control Built-in Image Enhancer for ultra clear picture Rain and fog resistant glass coating protects against extreme weather Sharp clear image with true clear night vision 48 inch power/video cable Digital Noise Reduction (DNR) Technology Auto Gain Control DC 12V power rating Load Impedance - 75 Ohms Requires Connector BNC for installation One year warranty Free lifetime technical support Camera can be seen on [mod edit, removed name of site and .com - no links to stores] under Security Cameras > IR Day/Night. It's the top one (CL-34S) -- Sorry... I can't post links yet... Anyhow.. will it be decent or terrible? I just want to be able to make out someone once they get within 10ft or so of my house. Thanks...

Surveillance Laws.. Do I have to post a sign at my house..?
chr1z replied to chr1z's topic in Security Cameras
I appreciate the info... I'm basically just wanting to make sure I don't need to do anything special to record my driveway and around the outside of my house.... -
Are there any 8-channel dvr's to be had for $1000.00 or less that are any good?
-
Thanks... what about DVRs... Is 720x240 sufficient at 30fps per camera or do I need to go with 720x480? Is there anything I can look at to actually see the difference in the two?

Surveillance Laws.. Do I have to post a sign at my house..?
chr1z replied to chr1z's topic in Security Cameras
Yeah me too, but when our house got broken into recently, that worried me the most... the guns were inside and I wasn't lol. -
Little background.. my house just recently got broken into and the alarm scared them away before they managed to get anything... the police seem to think they'll be back as they've seen a similar pattern in the area... 1st time they break in, look around, 2nd time they come after 1 or 2 specific items. So... I'm looking to install a 4 camera system at my house... I'd like 4 IR cameras... I don't care what shape/size etc.. In other words, if it needs to be big, so be it. I need one that covers my front door, one for the back door, one for the driveway (75ft long or so), and one that covers my back yard. DVR... I'd like a standadlone DVR that can keep 2 weeks or so worth of live recordings. Ok... I can spend $2000.00 on this and eBay is fine with me but I just don't know what to get... What's the best I can get to have the best picture using 4 cameras and a standalone 4 channel dvr? Thanks!!!
