    2 X NV6480 and Version 7.3.0.0013

I'm new to CCTV systems and am currently using 2 x NV6480 express cards on a custom Core 2 Duo w/ gigabit E6850, 3gz, 2mb ram, Nvidia GeForce 8500GT, XP sp2. DVR ver 7.3.0.0.0043d I was having problems with system crashing randomly every two to three days. For some reason I was able to get around this by scheduling an automatic reboot of the system every two days. No more crashes since. I'm sure it's not the correct way to resolve this but it works. My main beef now is the limitation of the automatic 10 second record of all channels every hour on the hour. It is a pain for remote viewing of motion triggered cameras. I spoke to support and a regional sales manager but they were not able to comment on whether this limitation will be resolved.

    Avermedia DVR Card or Standalone

Thanks for that info. I am also a newbie to this. I'm currently using the EB1304NET. It's a great unit however, limited as it does not offer masking and individual camera recording control. I'm finding the motion sensor is constantly triggered to record empty video even on the lowest sensitivity level. I'm wondering if the higher end Avermedia DVRSA6000E or NV6480E card would be the same. If I use a PC based dvr with a dedicated PC, is it as easy to set up as a standalone? Is there more flexibility and options in a pc dvr? I constantly use the remote console but I'm not quite sure how the portforwarding for a pc dvr would work. Any comments on the standalone SA6000E vs the NV6480E card would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Can anyone state the pros and cons between a dvr card and a standalone? I'm primarily interested in the Avermedia SA6000E Pro and the NV6480EXP Card. Thanks!
  4. Can anyone state the pros and cons (other than cost) of a DVR Card over a Standalone DVR? I'm mainly interested in the SA6000E pro standalone and the NV6480EXP Card. Thanks!
