Haha thank you very much for that info. Obviously the dvr has a bnc spot out. What would be the best connection to look for on a monitor? Keeping in mind I would have to use a RG cite right? At home I have a bnc with a RCA adapter so I can connect it to my tv but I think that is causing problems. I keep seeing lines through the picture like it's refreshing.

Thank you. A 15" or so monitor would be fine because I'm trying to take up as little space as possible. Where are you seeing them go for $100? I know the written memory isn't what's actually available for use but I just thought this much loss was quite a bit. O well still plenty of memory. Thanks

the area is well lit so it doesn't have to work in complete darkness but it does have to be weather resistant as there will be nothing protecting it from the sun and rain.
-
thank you, that was very helpful. well the genius that installed this system has a 4 ch P/S running 8 cameras :/ so i'm guessing the mono price will be enough.
-
make? model? where can i get it?
-
doesn't have to be vandal proof but if the price is right then it doesn't matter. any opinions on my previous question about viewing angle? also, recommend anything you like. i'm def. up for any opinions. thats why i'm here.

thank you, that site has a ton of stuff. quick question. is this PS a good one: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=110&cp_id=11009&cs_id=1100902&p_id=6875&seq=1&format=2 i've order a lot of stuff from mono price before and they are good people, just wondering if 1.1A is enough. what makes some of these power supplies so expensive??? some of them are over $150 and they do the same thing as this one. and sorry for such a noob question but what determines the viewing angle and viewing distance?
-
will do, thank you.
-
thank you guys very much. i'll look into those options.
-
the first picture shows the camera which is no more than 3" in diameter. the second is about 4". i like these because they are very small and do not stand out at all.
-
thats not that bad but i'll take a pic of the one i'm talking about, i'll be going by there in a little bit.
-
i'm sure its a good camera but i'm also sure its big and ugly. the cameras we have inside right now are very small. a couple of them are only about 3-4" in diameter and very discrete. honestly, sometimes i have a hard time remembering where they are myself. one of these cameras will be in the dining area so i want it to keep a low profile and not totally stand out. the other doesn't really matter but it would be nice if it didn't stand out.

so i took a better look and looks like i will have to mount on the wall. not what i wanted but it works better. anyway, Rey, i see why you asked if it was new or used. i want to install 2 indoor domes also and the ones they have are listed as used. where can i find good indoor cameras new? any reputable sites? one will need to see no more than 25' and 90* and the other will be the same distance but wider angle if possible. thank you.
-
would it be a problem if i install a camera by a recessed light? the light will be behind it but i'm not sure if it will affect the picture. the distance i need to see is roughly 30' and the viewing angle is about 100*. i don't have to put it by the light but it would look much better as the rest of the building is completely flat and it would stick out like a sore thumb.

thank you, i just figured there had to be more to choose from out there.

so, now my 8LTA took a sh*t, well just the power supply. the problem is that the company no longer carries parts for this and its only 3 years old. they told me i could find a power supply online and splice my connector in since its a 4 pin connector. now i know what people mean when they say buy a product from a company that offers good support. any ideas on where i can get a power supply, preferably with the connector i need. thanks
-
so what were you looking for when you "found" this?
-
Not saying that the company is bad but discontinuing a part as simple as a PS? Really? When it failed I figured I could rig it but if all else failed I could get a new one from the manuf..... Guess not. Also don't understand why they used a 4 pin connector when they could have used a very common single pin ( such as a laptop) connector.
-
hi, like the title says, i'm in need of a power supply for my 8LTA, if you have one or know where i can get one please let me know. thank you
-
lol, thanks i'll post in the classifieds. i was just mad because i've only had this for 3 years and they already discontinued parts. esp. something as simple as this.
-
well i have plenty of power supplies at home but i'd rather have the correct part instead of rigging something up.
-
well it looks like i still can not post web sites for some reason and i can not pm a mod to fix that so can someone let me know how i can resolve this? thanks.
-
wow, thats a lot of info. thank you. i guess i'll start by saying that i'm not looking for a cam. that will read a licence plate, i was just wondering about it. also, thank you for you pm. i took a look at that cam. but i don't think it will work in my situation, i need all bullet cameras because they will be mounted on walls. also, how much difference is there between 420 and 480 lines? i also understand what you are saying about cheaper cameras but i believe these will work in my situation. my brother and i have spent hours finding the perfect locations for the cameras like you mentioned and we have EVERY angle covered. we also thought about different paths one would take, again like you mentioned, and made sure we had that area covered. now the thing is that my driveway is about 300' from the house so the camera at the gate will probably be a cl-69sh like chr1z has. also, the receiver i'm thinking about going with now is the intellicam g4-8lta. what do you think about that one? i have attached a drawing i just made really quickly so you can get some sort of idea as to what i am thinking. agian, this is a quick drawing so please let me know if you need anything cleared up. thank you.
-
that helps a LOT, thank you. i've been thinking about it and i think i will go with the cl-34s for around the house. you are sure its the dvr (not the camears) that is responsible for the bad images? how does it look at night? is the quality still good? what type of angle's do you get with it? distance? also, how clear are the images with the cl-69sh, can you make out licence plates at night? distance? sorry for all the questions, it hard to find info on their products. also, i've been looking at the g4-8lta by intellicam, what do you guys think about that? i liked everything about the closeoutcctv dvr but if its recording is crap then i'll pass.
