greenarrow1 started following video lost (need some help), H55 and P55 chipsets, Geo V 8.3.3 W7 1480 Card and and 7 others
-
I just finished building a computer with the H55 chipset with Win 7 Pro 32 bit. I cannot get the video to work at all with Multiview. It worked for around 10 seconds than went to Video Lost. I tested each cable and camera with a portable viewer and everything is fine. GV emailed and told me to uninstall and reinstall everything with directions. This for sure did not work. I even disabled the watch dog in hopes it was that on the GV card. As far as 8.3.3 supporting Win 7, it sure doesnt. Good thing I still have the old computer as the card is going back in it with good olde Win XP Pro. My MOBO even allows me to adjust power voltage settings for cards and processor if needed. I read in another post about disabling hyper threading and they had 8.3.3 video work using i series processors. The other area is GV site documentation is ancient, specially trouble shooting. The GV card log files do not really reflect sufficient data to troubleshoot, ie, error, video Lost. I can see that just by looking at the screen. From what I have read their FAQ are around 3 or 4 years old. One would figure as long as GV has been in business kinks in the video lost area would be resolved by now on the cards. The more I look into this the more I am beginning to think it is the Intel chipset and maybe not the GV card because it worked at initial install than went kaput. Since i do not have a way to actually benchtest the chipset. My board supports PCI-E video card but I am not sure what the GV 1480 supports any more because the GV site is out of date on video cards. I do not want to buy a video card that will be considered out dated in 3 or 6 months.

I built a new computer with W7, Geo Ver 8.3.3 on the 1480 card due to other computer showing its age. Everything was fine as I hooked up cameras and on boot everything was showing. I ran a vulnerability check to make sure all programs were up to date and than rebooted. Guess what, no more video, I received "Video lost". This is using Multiview with fixed cable cameras and 1 wireless camera. All cameras are now showing Video Lost and I cannot figure out why. I am running Pelco and Sony cameras. Even if it was the AGC on the fixed cameras the wireless camera does not have this feature so I suspect it is within the Geo card or software. I checked all settings and they are exactly as were on the old computer for the Geo Vision software. I disabled the W7 Pro aero display because the card does not support this but that was done before the reboot when the video lost appeared. Am I missing something?

I guess my bookmark is old as it went to their Chinese site when I tried it. Thanks I replaced my old bookmark with yours.

Has anyone noticed the GEO Vision home site is no longer in English (even their english version) as it is all Chinese now. What I need to know does 8.3 support Windows 7, and if not, do they intend to support Windows 7?

For anyone that did the upgrade to version 8.3 in the driver part of this update there is a new Firmware for certain cards. I do not know if this is for any external DVR's but it does update the firmwear. GeoVision really needs to separate any firmware updates to their own section and not include them inside a driver update file.

I fixed it since I did not know that the new driver part included a firmware update. GeoVision needs to separate Firmware from the driver part. A firmware update is not a driver update.

I upgraded to GeoVision 8.3 as directed and now I cannot get any video from any camera. It appears all the cameras settings are the same and it did retain the settings from 8.2 but no video. Anyone else having this problem? Also, any solutions? I have checked everything I can think of including the AGC and global setting. If it was just 1 camera I would suspect the camera but it is all of them. I did reboots and even uninstall and reinstalled the system but still no video. Last time I had this problem it was AGC related but I checked all that. When will I ever learn if it is working dont try to update or fix anything LOL but I wanted one of the features in the update and so did the company so i really did not have a choice.

I also received a email from GeoVision that stated 8.3 was released but no where is there a way to request it from the email or just how to get it. When I go to their site version 8.3 is not in the recent versions area.

I received a email from Geo Vision announcing version 8.3. Does anyone know if this is going to be available for 8.2 users or is it going to be a fee base upgrade or update? So far there is no link on their site about upgrade or update. There seems to be a lot of additions and updates in this version.

Wishing everyone the Best for the Holidays. I lost video after doing the last windows security updates and cannot figure this one out. All my settings are the same. Using my portable display device and hooking direct into the camera cable feed it shows the stream but using the feed through the GeoVision software I get "Video Lost". I am using versions 8.2. If I uninstall GeoVision and reinstall it is there a way I can save my settings or do I have to write them all down so I just go back in and set them up again? I sure wish GeoVision would port to Linux because Windows has way to many flaws and they keep finding more everyday. I would even volunteer to write the drivers for Linux if GeoVision would allow it. Since we use Remote View the computer has to have Internet access plus we are using wireless transmissions for the cameras because of County laws where we are at which require all lines to be buried and the business just cannot afford that. All camera feeds have video and the lost is in the GEOVision soft wear.

Geo Vision 8.2 and Recent Windows Security Updates
greenarrow1 replied to greenarrow1's topic in Geovision
For one since the videos are also accessed by remote viewing the computer must be secured. One must remember not everyone uses a closed system that just does a video stream to one computer. I chose GEO Vision because it came highly recommended along with its compatibility with Window systems. This is not the first time the video went down using GeoVision and this time I will write down everything I did to get it back. Since it has been almost a year since last time I do not remember what I did then to correct the problem. Since I have feed from the cameras using my portable display device without using the GeoVision card I figure now it is either the card itself or the software settings. Since the settings are all the same in the software I have to isolate why the card is not rendering any video to the monitor. All cameras are out so it is not just one isolated one. I will try uninstalling and reinstalling GeoVision since the update could have corrupted the drivers. To bad GeoVision does not make Linux drivers as I would switch in a heart beat. As far as the a/v it does not start up and is only used when I update it or run a scan. When I do this I turn off GeoVision. I did notice a reboot just before all this started because of a power failure which is noted in the logs. This was after the Window updates during the evening. My UPS reboots the system after the power is restored to power up items that get turned off from the power failure. -
I did the recent MS Windows XP pro security updates last tuesday and now I have no video for the cameras on the LCD display. I hooked up my portable display device and there are feeds and a video from the cameras but now the card itself is showing video lost. I checked all the settings and they are the same. I remember losing video once before but since that was almost a year ago I have no idea what I did to correct the video lost. I am running a D-Type 1480 card. Is there anything I need to check for? The GeoVision Troubleshooter for Video Lost is rather lacking on info if it is the actual card problem or the software. Since my portable display device shows a video with a direct connect to the camera it is not the cables or cameras Well at least I went a year without any problems but my luck ran out Lol.

For one if you are running a remote monitor using computer to computer or other methods you better have a active A/V plus a firewall with Geo ports allowed. Also with users carrying flash sticks or usb sticks another reason to have a a/v. Better to be safe than sorry later. When you run a a/v select what you want it to scan thus eliminating the possibility of corrupting your GEO Vision software. Also I been running GEO Vision for 3 years and use a A/V and never had it corrupt the software so either you had something on your computer or you tagged a file and deleted it from the scan or look in quarantined as it may be there and restore it if it is a working part of GEO Vision. I do hope you place files found in a scan in quarrantine instead of outright deleting them.

I am actually a computer forensics technician but CCTV, IP and camera networking is part of the field. Since I need to know this area I thought joining this forum could help me and maybe I could even help out some of the members. I look forward to meeting some of the members and sharing info with all plus gaining some knowledge myself about the workings of CCTV.
