Help Please - PTZ protocol question

Using the KCT-2500 PTZ keyboard and the Pelco-D protocol, I was able to access the PTZ camera menus, but little else............ I appears that these Samsung PTZ's have limited Pelco-D support, which I presume is why Samsung has their own protocol Called the DVR folks and I now have a short list of DVR supported protocols other than Samsung for PTZ auto pan/scan functions that the cameras already support and will test this week. Whew

    Hello from NC!

Wouldn't having a standardized manual be the way to go Of course then, who would write it?

Help Please - PTZ protocol question

I had another thought The SCC-643 PTZ's were previously programmed with the Samsung protocol........ could they have possibly kept the programming within the camera? If so, is it possible to retrieve and "run" the preset scans using the Pelco-D protocol that is currently on those cameras?

Help Please - PTZ protocol question

I think you are correct; I have a protocol sheet for the SCC-643 cameras and it appears it is the cameras that are limited with the Pelco-D protocol. I'll look back at the other protocols and see which ones appear to support the auto panning

Help Please - PTZ protocol question

Our new DVR PC based system is a 32 channel H.264 capable recorder w/4TB (Almost....) storage More importantly, it appears to support numerous PTZ protocols, which is why I'm asking to see which is best/better. I want to avoid changing the protocols on the 2 PTZ's which would involve getting a bucket lift out to the parking lot and........... lots of hassle
  6. We have an existing CCTV system that includes 2 PTZ cameras, both Samsung SCC-643AN models that were running the Samsung protocol half-duplex. We now have a new DVR that is PC based running HIKvision 4.74 (Server) and we are unable to get the PTZ's to respond on the 1 available Samsung protocol on the DVR. The attached RS-485 cabling is correct, as we changed protocols to Pelco-D and we can control the cameras, BUT we cannot set any auto scanning/patrolling using Pelco-D What I would like to get is some input on PTZ protocols that DO support the auto pan/search/patrol feature, as this is an important feature for our security group. Thanks in advance.

    Hello from NC!

I'm a retired US Army CWO (KW Pilot) and now working for a manufacturing company in the IS/IT dept. I'm joining the forums here because I know I will need some fresh thinking in the CCTV area, as one of my projects is taking over the security camera system and updating it. Look forward to reading the knowledge here and one day adding to the mix.
