anyone had experiance using a panasonic ptz w/ ge dvmre ??
blowrabbit posted a topic in Security Cameras
I have a panasonic wv-cs954 PTZ hooked up to a calibur probridge cbr-pb2-pa unit hooked up as per directions to a ge dvmre at the rs-485 port. the address is set to 1 the baud to 19,200 on both the ptz and the dvr. the ptz is powered up fine and can be viewed remotely. the problem is no action on the wavereader ptz controlls ? I should also mention that the ptz is on default configuration with [data bit =8] [stop bit =1] [parity=none] and that i can only determine this by when the cam boots up as i have no controller for the ptz. I had hoped to controll the ptz thru wavereader?? -

I must assume nobody I mean nobody has gone down the dark lonely path of trying to hook up a panasonic super dynamic III PTZ camera to the GE line of dvr's the DVMRe? man its lonely out here??? -
i have a symdec 4 in use on site for remote viewing and it does make any camera look as good as it can ..... however if you want to remotely view playback video forget it ... bandwidth hog ... you will need at least 2 mg's upload speed at the site. it is okay for live for a camera or two. It is also just a little better than a beta product, it has little fuctionalitys and is easily freaked out by changes in programing. but hell its cheap anyway.

Thanks for the heads up! I think I heard something about this once? I never have seen the probridge manual you spoke of as I only have the one for the CBR-PB2-PA , [for the panasonic unitized PTZ domes]. I'll have to try this tomorrow. Man this is kinda dicey with setting the Pano dome with only the dip switches and it has to be in the correct sequence of changes and off and ons. The Pano has two seperate settings for either 2 or 4 lines wiring although I think they mean wires not lines? The probridge manual shows the RJ45 adapter/connector to RJ11 as pin 6 to pin 4 and pin3 to pin5 so would this mean its a 4 or a 2 wire communication protocol ? I would guess its a 2 ? And lastly as you say I have the network setting on the dvr at 1 and on the camera at 1 so connect the ptz to the #2 camera bnc on the dvrme. -
is there any dvr with external usb hdd for realtime recordin

I forgot to mention that the GE Symdec-4 's removeable hdd is in a keyed caddy so removeing them is a snap. -
is there any dvr with external usb hdd for realtime recordin
blowrabbit replied to coolcut's topic in Digital Video Recorders
GE's 4 channel symdec is a highend dvr recording in D1 resolution and it has a removeable 300gb hdd. Now you would have to buy a unit for each site and one for viewing at home. The units are fairly cheap, and the removable hdd's are really slick. They kinda suck over the web due to the amount of bandwidth you need but it you are looking at the hdd at home on another unit it would work great. -
does anyone know if you can hook this ptz camera to a another brand of dvr for example a ge dvrme and remotely view and controll it?

dvmre16ezt slave drive replacement
blowrabbit replied to buckethead's topic in Digital Video Recorders
regarding the search for 5400 rpm hardrives. they can be found on the internet as i purchased 8 of them for my dvse storage unit. i believe any pair of drives must match to work in your ge dvr. also maxtor is the best bet. the drives i found were refurbished but work fine. be sure and properly configure the master slave issue. they were 160gb hdd's -
so do I just connect the RJ-12 cable comming off the ptz and hook it up to the ge dvrme 's RS485 port or is it the RS232 port ? and hook up the coaxial for the video to my dvr, go to the menu in my dvr and change some protocals and thats it , i am ready to controll, configure and view the panasonic ptz remotely? thank you for your help.

I've got a ge dvmre ct-16-A that is hooked up to 5 cameras and set up for remote view via a dsl line , router, ect. It has worked fine for about 6 months but now when I access it the pictures randomly change from camera to camera. In other words in wavereader what was cam 1 has become cam4 and back and forth with some cams being shown twice at the same time? Its a mess needless to say. I also have a dvse / 50 pin cable hooked up to it for extended storage. Any ideas??

what blows my mind is that there were no weapons of mass destruction, sadam was not involved with the 911 terrorists, the bush people wanted the war and lied to the people. and yet this SOB is still leading us into a beehive from hell where our oponents line up to kill themselves in order to take us out.

megapixel cameras and IP cameras
blowrabbit posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I assume that both of the aforementioned cameras function and setup for remote viewing in a simular manner? I ask this as I have had success configureing a IP camera for remote viewing but have yet to do it with a megapixel camera. The IP camera just went thru a router/modem just like any other dvr with port forwarding , ect. and this ran with the other dvrs via a hub and i hope to be able to do this with a megapixel camera? Is it a plug and play kinda thing? -
poe for IP cam along with poa for analoge cams

can you configure a dsl router to provide [POE] power and video for a IP cam at the same time as you use it for say a typical ge dvmre wavelet remote system with 24 vlt powered cameras? -
Problem with DVR reseting every few minutes
blowrabbit replied to gshultz1's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
There was an issue a while back with ge recalling some of their 12vlt power supplys for the ge dvrs. This was for a rebooting problem. Easy to call ge teck support to find out. -
I have a DVMRe 16CT-600A that does not let me enable the 6th camera whether its on site thru the menu or remotely thru wavereader ? It seems like this happened after a power loss, although not really sure? I know its powered up and it used to show the camera in question. Anyone else had this experiance?

Rory, I would give old Metz a buzz, you know the guy from reliable cctv. He used to be a regular here untill he went and tried to make his own website forum. Its not very successfull but I think you know what it is so try him as he used to be very big in that particular manufacturer.

poe for IP cam along with poa for analoge cams
blowrabbit replied to blowrabbit's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
maybe this is a better way for me ask the question? if i enable POE on my DSL line to facilate an IP camera can i still use the same line/router for conventionally powered cctv cameras for remote viewing in a seperate software [ge wavelet] program? -
regarding the DVSE make sure you do not get the first version with the unit, ver 1.20 . it has limited functionalitys as compared to the newer versions. both units manuals can be acessed thru the web at www.gesecurity.com , or do a search under ge security. you should know that the dvmre is a discontinued product now. maybe that is why the price is so good?

What should I choose Pelco DX8100 or Panasonic WJ-HD316A
blowrabbit replied to karnos's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Well they are both good with the pano being the better but you'd better be a wiz with directions to take on the panasonic as it is know to be anything but user friendly. Pelco to me is very overpriced and because its a PC based system get ready for PC problems. I'd check out embeded systems like the GE Dvmre or Prosafe and the Tiger by Sanyo. Or, just do a night or two of searchs on this forum under "DVR's" and you will learn a lot. -
