Exacq and Avigilon H.264 minidome
alpine0000 replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hey Chris, Did you ever get a chance to do this? I'd love to see some comparison shots of the two cameras in the same scene in low light. I am going to buy one of these two cameras some time between now and the end of August, which is why I'm so interested. I was leaning towards the Avigilon 2.0MP-HD-H264-DO1 because of the *slightly* larger image sensor, slightly cheaper price, and the incredible things I have heard about Aviglon. But, then again, I am also leaning towards the Panasonic WV-NW502S for the WDR, the extra megapixel, the thing you pointed out about not getting the Avigilon to do motion sensing, and the fact that is has a CCD instead of a CMOS sensor (since I am using this for low-light, and I have read a few times on this forum that CCD is considered better for low light. Is that right?). Tough decision I am having... Thanks -
Is the iOS app out for Avigilon Control Center yet?
alpine0000 replied to alpine0000's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Wow. I learned something new... I didn't realize that you had to catch up on any missed back payments. I suppose that's smart of Exacq to do, to avoid people from doing the "update-my-software-every-other-year" trick -
Is the iOS app out for Avigilon Control Center yet?
alpine0000 replied to alpine0000's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yea, for a business, another machine usually isnt that big of a deal. But for a small setup as a home user, its not that appealing, esp compared to exacq's more simple solution. Although, I dont argue how amazing Avigilon's ACC is. I wish I wasnt so dependant on an iOS app, but unfortunately that is one of the things I use most. I am a govt contractor, and regularly do IT work on Army bases around the county (and around the world), where the installation of a VMS client isnt allowed on my work station, as well as most websites being blocked (including my home IP, so I cant even use the web interface for exacq), nor am I allowed to plug my personal laptop into their network (for obvious reasons), so really my only option at that point is the app on my iphone to check things out. It's also nice being able to login real quick from my phone while driving home from work to see if my girlfriend is home yet It's not so much a neccessity when I'm in town and come home every night, but it's really nice to have when I'm on travel for a week or more at a time! I travel a lot for work A lot of "extended" travel too. -
Is the iOS app out for Avigilon Control Center yet?
alpine0000 replied to alpine0000's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
yea, for sure. im just worried that maybe the software is setup so that it wont LET you install and license it on the same machine, forcing you to use two seperate machines. that would be a disappointment if it wasnt physically possible to use the same machine because of the way they set up the licensing. -

Eek. I guess that counts me out, as I am just a home-user, and don't want two Dell servers running in my house. One is enough for me I will still wait and see what transpires over the next month with it, but I won't get my hopes up. Looks like I may be staying with Exacq afterall. -
Is the iOS app out for Avigilon Control Center yet?
alpine0000 replied to alpine0000's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Pricing?? Ugg I was hoping the app would just be free for anybody who is already paying to use Avigilon's ACC, kinda like how exacq app is free to download AND free to use, for anybody who has exacq already set up. Oh, and this whole thing where Avigilon is recommending using a different server to install the service on that the app will connect to is also not ok with me. I use the same server for exacq's recording service and web service. Avigilon told me that they do not recommend this because of the heavy overhead required to convert the JPEG2000 images to a different format for your iphone So far, between them charging for the app usage, and having to use a different server, I'm not a fan, and I havent even seen the app yet. Hopefully these things will prove to be non-issues? We'll see. -

Thanks for the link. Does that 3rd party app connect to the ACC server, and have full functionality, or does it just connect straight to each IP camera and just have live-view functionality? I'm not that big of a fan of 3rd party apps like that. Esp knowing that Avigilon is already developing their own app that will likely rival any 3rd party app, and be able to connect directly to the ACC server. -

Thanks Chris That's nice of you. What about taking a screenshot while you have the video open and paused? Hahaha. Wont be the same high-quality, but itll be just a little peak for me to see both shots compared to to each other. -

Thanks Chris, You didnt happen to get any comparison night shots of the avigilon vs panasonic did you? I have seen some night shots of the avigilon's, and also have seen some of the panasonics, but they were from different people at different scenes with different amounts of lighting. I would be interested in seeing the same night shot side-by-side with each camera so i can judge on a level playing field. -
NVR Software long term cost Avigilon, Exacq
alpine0000 replied to EarlT's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I'm not a fan of exacq software updates. I had to *know* that there was an update, then in order to get the server update, I had to email thewireguys and ask him to send me the executable file so I could update my server. I think exacq needs to make this automatic, where my server can connect to the exacq software update server, check my license key, and download any updates. I am not sure how Avigilon handles this, but I dont think it could be any worse than Exacq. That said, I do really like exacq. -

Thanks! Would you be interested in posting comparison night shots of both cameras on the same scene? I'm torn between the two cameras. Also, depending on how Avigilon's iOS app turns out, I may considering switching from exacq to ACC. -

Thanks! I use exacq, and I was set up to buy/test out an Avigilon h.264 dome by August, but I may reconsider if motion won't work. I'd use it on my deck, and would want motion detection. The other camera I was considering is the Panasonic megapixel dome IP cam (I forget the model right now, it's probably the 502?) Which camera do you think has a better night time image -- the Avigilon or the Panasonic? Could you get the Panasonic to correctly use motion detection? -
Axis q6034-e vs p5534-e
alpine0000 replied to drvcrash's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The thing that stands out right off the bat is that the 6034 has arctic temperature control which is good to -40F. As where the other doesn't, and is good to -4F. Also the 6034 has high speed PTZ control, so zooming in, for example, would be much faster. -

I need a software solution for a BIG project
alpine0000 replied to ssnapier's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I'm pretty sure Avigilon supports Mobotix, and you can integrate the analog cameras with an encoder. -
Surely it can be tightened.

Avigilon Analong to IP encoder
alpine0000 replied to EarlT's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I was told by Avigilon that "the iOS app will be out some time in late-June" " title="Applause" /> This is also the main reason I went with Exacq. But once the Avigilon iOS app comes out, I would like to demo Avigilon software and may consider switching if its that much better. -
Just installed a Sanyo VCC-HD4600P. Questions.

Would you elaborate on exactly what problems Exacq has with the Sanyo's? -
Panasonic makes great outdoor domes. I have 3 of them installed in the eaves at my house. viewtopic.php?f=53&t=18575&start=0

Milestone vs ExacqVision
alpine0000 replied to nyckylim's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yikes. I definitely havent had to do that yet, and hope I never do. I reboot my server about once a week. Usually every weekend while I am at home I will install all my Windows updates and then reboot the server. Aside from taking a couple of minutes to reconnect, I havent had any issues with "connections". -
Milestone vs ExacqVision
alpine0000 replied to nyckylim's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Mine reconnect, they just take a while. Try unplugging an IP camera from the switch, and then plugging it back in. Mine take up to 5 minutes to re-connect to Exacq. Sometimes its as quick as a minute or two, though. Is this what you were talking about, Mike? Or are you finding that sometimes they dont reconnect at all? -

alpine0000 replied to nyckylim's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
From the time it started the reboot to the time I could see the cameras on a remote computer was about 12 seconds. Best, Christopher Wow. You're in better shape than the rest of us, apparently.
