  1. already found that out the first day i had it, when i kept unplugging my IP camera while mounting it and playing around with it. From my experience it is more than 60 seconds, but less than 5 minutes. That does seem too long, but then again, I never pull the power. And I have 3 battery backups in my system, and probably only have about 2 power outtages per year at my house, so it doesnt bother me *that* much for my application. But yea, Exacq, if you're listening, that could definitely be improved I cant wait to see it. I just thought of something else -- I don't think Avigilon supports the new Vivotek FD8161 that I just bought I hope I am wrong, or if I'm not, that that will change in the near future.
  2. I do like Avigilon's control center, and did seriously consider it, but I just use the Exacq iOS app WAY too often to want to give that up. If Avigilon were to release an iOS app before I purchase anymore Exacq licenses, I may re-consider it I think TheWireGuys told me on the phone once that Avigilon *is* planning to release an iOS app, but who knows if that will happen in 1 month or 12 months... (does anybody have any scoop on that?) Having said that, I still think Exacq is a very decent, respectible VMS. In fact, I love Eaxcq, and don't regret it at all. I have no problems with it, but then again, I am not using it for a large-scale enterprise application either, so other peoples mileage may vary
  3. Not that it's a big deal, but I was just wondering... Does Avigilon's remote focus/zoom work within the Exacq VMS, or do you need to login directly to the camera via web interface to do that?
  4. Excellent! I have a few concerns that I am hoping you can sort out: 1) In exacqvision, with my Vivotek FD8161, it seems to work fine, except when I want to export recorded footage to AVI or MOV files, the video is blank when i try to watch it. However, it *WILL* work if I export to a .exe file. Ever seen that before? I was using h.264, and last night i switched it to jpeg to see if that makes any difference. I am going to try exporting again tonight to see if that changes anything. But even if it does, i kind of wanted to use h.264 for bandwidth purposes, since I stream a lot of live video to my iOS devices, and watch the cameras via client software from work. I will note though, that I can export to AVI and MOV files just fine from video recorded on my analog cameras through the AXIS 241Q encoder. Its just the IP camera footage that wont work. 2) I bought 2 exacq licenses, then a few weeks later they announced Start and Pro versions. Is my version now obsolete? Can I have licenses that are mixed-and-matched? In otherwords, can I buy a Start license now that will work with my other two licenses that costed way more? Also, what would I lose in capability by going with Start licenses over my current ones? And is the Pro version just a re-name of the version I have, or does it add more functionality? 3) I have notifications set up to email me on video loss in exacq. I have an issue ONLY with the IP camera, in that whenever it switches to night mode, or back to day mode, I get an email for video loss. This doesnt happen when my analog cameras hooked up to the AXIS encoder switch between day and night mode. I'm hoping these issues wont continue to be a problem with new IP cameras I purchase, and even hoping that there's an easy fix for them and they won't continue to be a problem. Sorry for all of the questions... But thanks for your help and support. " title="Applause" />
  5. I did that. No matter what I have tried, the text bar at the top of the image coming from the encoder is saying it is only about 3.5fps. I dont think I have much troubleshooting left, in this case. This is just a limitation of the 241Q if I want the max resolution at the max quality settings.

    No Solution

Pain the ass to install, and when twisting the cover back on (on the domes) it moves the lens that you just aligned.
  7. any time frame on 4.6? Now that I know I am only getting 3fps, I am wanting to upgrade my analog cameras even sooner I was told today "this week" TASTY 3fps isnt gonna cut it for me ... Time to start moving these analog cameras out.
  8. An email from AXIS: ----------------------------------- Dear William, Thank you for contacting Axis Technical Support. I would be happy to assist you. If you are using all 4 ports on the 241Q encoder at full resolution, this encoder can only share 25-30FPS across all 4 channels. Other network conditions can decrease the frame rate a little more but on average you would be receiving 5-7 FPS per channel. Hope this helps! Best regards, Eamon Axis Customer Services
  9. any time frame on 4.6? Now that I know I am only getting 3fps, I am wanting to upgrade my analog cameras even sooner
  10. I dont really need 30fps or anything, but something above 3 or 5fps would be nice. Im fine with somewhere around 15fps When connected to exacq, i am getting 3.4fps all day long on all four cameras. Thats a bit low for my preference. TWG: What do the R and the D stand for in rfps and dfps in exacqvision?
  11. When you are viewing the encoder directly you are only viewing one stream. When you have Exacq connected Exacq is pulling 4 streams. Ah hah. So i guess this is as good as it gets? I need to upgrade to IP soon...
  12. Im just wondering why if the encoder is disconnected from exacq I can get 19 to 26 FPS, but the instant it connects to exacq, that drops to between 3 and 7fps. Something has got to be wrong somewhere...
  13. If i switch one of the cams to MPEG4, it goes up to 7.2fps. If i switch all four cameras to MPEG4, then they drop back down to 3.6
  14. Didnt end up having to leave yet, so I did a quick default on my AXIS 241Q. The FPS (while not connected to exacq) went from 19 (before) to 26 (after the default). The FPS (while connected to exacq) went from 3.5 (before) to 5.2 (after). 5 is still a bit on the slow side. I think maybe this has something to do with the dual streams, or is it something else? EDIT: after re-setting up my motion windows, my fps is back down to 3.X Everything is default in the AXIS settings except I gave each camera a name (for example, front door, driveway, etc). And then the only thing I did in Exacq was raise the quality of each camera from 5 to 10, and then setup motion detection windows. From the start, though, it was never a great FPS in exacq right after defaulting the encoder. it was only giving me about 5fps in exacq
  15. Oh cool. I didnt know the that I could have fps displayed on the bottom right instead of bandwidth I dont have time to default the encoder right now, I am on my way out the door. I will definitely do it later though! As of right now though, the RFPS, DFPS, and FPS are all about 3.6 -- Can you tell me what the R and the D stand for? In otherwords, what is the difference between the three? Thanks! I like learning new things
  16. So is there a way to disable the second stream, and just have ONE stream going to exacq to get my 20fps? I wonder why you can get 30fps and i can only get 20... are you using motion JPEG or MPEG4? also, are you recording in 4CIF?
  17. between 19 and 20 so, where do we go from here? am i just stuck with what ive got? or is there a trick to fixing this?
  18. How many cameras do you have hooked up to your encoder?
  19. Do you mean disconnect it from exacq and then look in the AXIS setup page and tell you what it is set at? It is "set" at unlimited. Or do you want me to go to the AXIS setup page and do a test of what the actual FPS reading is? What do you mean when you say disconnect it? Unplug my exacq server from the router? or do i have to actually go into the exacq software and delete the AXIS server altogether? edit: Here is my setting directly in the AXIS setup page (unlimited fps), not exacq: And when i click on "test" in the AXIS setup page, here is the pop-up window that measures FPS (note the top black bar that shows the FPS), which has nothing to do with EXACQ, although I havent officially disconnected exacq from the Server: And when I export recorded video from Exacq, and then open it in Quicktime, and look at the video info, quicktime shows it as 4fps too. Definitely a problem. For the record, in exacq, i have tried setting the FPS at 15, 20, and 30 for the recording settings. Still, the exported recorded video is showing 4fps.
  20. LOL @ you thinking your target "coffee shop owner" audience is here. You should try advertising through google. I have no doubt that your success-rate would increase exponentially " title="Applause" /> I heard all the coffee shop owners that hung out on this forum have recently left to go to another forum. Now this place is full of mostly Pro's, DIY'ers, and hobbyists. edit: you might want to try your sales pitch over here, at my other favorite forum -- http://www.coffeeforums.com/
  21. Another update on frame rate on the 241Q: It looks like no matter what the 'numbers' say in exacq or the axis setup page, actual frame rate at 4CIF is only 3 to 4 frames per second. I tested it by exporting video and looking at the video properties in quick time. I also learned that you can display the FPS as an overlay on the video feed through the Axis setup page. It averages the last 100 frames. It is showing 3.25fps for me even though I have my FPS set to 'unlimited' in the AXIS setup, and have the recording FPS set to 30 in Exacq . I am not sure if this gets better if you have less cameras hooked up to the encoder, or choose a different compression, or change any other options. This link shows how to overlay the FPS on your video feed: http://www.axis.com/techsup/faq/index.php/index_axis.php?action=artikel&cat=102&id=53524&artlang=en&search=fps
  22. i cant access the camera. it looks like maybe you already disabled the username "forum" that you had created?
  23. Follow up: Looks like it will do 30fps using motion JPEG. Or maybe I have some lying eyes, I dont know... You can login to the AXIS 241Q via IE, and set up all of your stuff here. The interface lets you set the FPS anywhere from 1 to 30. Then in EXACQ you set your recording FPS here: And this page shows it as 30fps, too. So as far as I can tell, 30fps is possible at 4CIF using motion JPEG. I didnt do any tests using MPEG4. I dont have time right now, I have to get on top of some yardwark today
  24. Regarding the MAC address using ExacqVision. If you upgrade hardware and get a new MAC address, or move to a new computer, what's involved in moving the license? The license is linked to the MAC address of your NIC. So if you get a new computer, but use the same NIC, youre fine. If you get a new NIC but the rest of the PC is the same (or if you replace your entire server), you need to contact exacq and get the license moved over. Correct me if im wrong, TheWireGuys, but it should be as easy as just letting Exacq know, and they can update their database with your new MAC address.
  25. Alpine can you confirm frame rates with Exacq? . I am running 15fps on 3 of the analog cams in 4CIF, and 20fps on 1 cam. I havent tried to use any higher FPS. I will play with it when I get a chance and see if I can do 30FPS at 4CIF. I am using motion JPEG, btw, not MPEG4. See top right of this screenshot:
