  1. Complete Newb here, looking for a Sensei to help this young Grasshopper set up remote viewing: I am a Newb and also am not very familiar with setting up networks in general, let alone for my camera system. The best thing I can do is list my setup below and see if there is help for me. I also have a DynDNS account, but have no idea what to do with it. -Swann MPEG 4 DVR (connected to desktop PC via ethernet cable) IP Address: 192.168.1.99 -The PC is connected to a wireless network and is not hard wired (the router is in a completely other part of my house) Can I even do this over a wireless network? There are 4 computers and 2 other people in my house that rely on the wireless network and I don't want to risk screwing up my connection and be w/o the internet from altering my routers settings. -D-Link DI-624 Wireless Router When I run ipconfig on the PC, these are the results: Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection Specific DNS Suffix: IP Address : 192.168.1.2 Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway : Ethernet adapter Wireless Connection 2: Connection Specific DNS Suffix: IP Address : 192.168.0.102 Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway : 192.168.0.1
  2. It should. Ideally, I guess an alternative would be if I could plug my DVR directly into one of the ports on my wireless router and hopefully be able to connect to it wirelessly on my PC. Clear as mud I'm sure....

Thanks Scorp! Here's a copy from my other post. Let me know your thoughts. 4. Hello all (first post here) For any of you that are familiar with the Video Server E software that comes with the SWANN MPEG 4 DVR, perhaps you can help. I initially got everything set up and was able to login to Video Server E and access the DVR. Everything was fine. Then, I started to mess around with the settings in order to setup remote internet access to the camera and have got myself stuck. When I logged in to Video Server E, I went to the "System Config" and changed it from the "Static IP" setting to the "DHCP" setting because I thought this was the setting I would use for the DynDNS account I had setup. Now I can't even login to the Video Server E Can someone tell me how I might master reset the DVR or get back to the Static IP setting for now? I would like to get back to this basic setting so I can at least view the cameras on my PC and use the playback software. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Help with Swann MPEG 4 DVR

Well, I'll warn you right now that if you decide to help, a can of worms is being opened. I'm trying to learn how to use free DDNS service and have actually an account now with DynDns. But from there, I'm a total newb. I'm patient and willing to be a good student. Just call me "Young Grasshopper"
  6. Thanks! It was as simple as hooking it up to the TV and using the menu to adjust the network type! Thanks again!
