  1. I need help in selecting Central Power supply for following 16 cameras: Sony SSC CD45 Power: 12vdc or 24VAC The manual does not say any thing more about power. I don't know how many mA does one camera take. It is 16 camera system and the distance to the farthest camera from the power supply will be approx 100' All cameras are indoor with no IR. When I browse through various Altronix power supplies, it is very difficult for me to make a decision. I'll greatly appreciate any help in selecting suitable power supply. Thanks
  2. First of all I would like to thank members of the forum, specially rory and Scorpion. Rory for the topic "How to tweak the PC" and for giving some insight into port forwarding. Scorpion for the detailed information on port forwarding and the web site links. Now when my Geovision dvr system is up and running and remote view is working fine, I am getting concerned about online security of the System. I would greatly appreciate if anybody could tell me: - How to secure the system from virus attacks, from adware, melaware etc. - Which is the best internet security package for a PC dvr among Norton, CA, Macafee etc. - Are there any more tweaks we can do in the PC itself, like Firewall settings, internet options etc... to protect the system. Thank you again for your immense help.

    Need help selecting indoor cameras

Thank you all for your reply. I don't need PTZ or night vision. Low lux cameras will be all right; they don't have to be IR. I am concerned about: 1. high resolution (because i am using GV 2008 hardware compression cards and I want to use them to get the optimum performance) and 2. the wall mount because most of them need to be mounted on the walls. I don't want to spend big bucks just on fancy mount. Just want to give them a professional look.
  4. I am building a 16 Camera system, with Gv 2008 cards, for a Health Food store. My Budget for the cameras is approx $200 per Camera. I need help in selecting indoor dome cameras for the best picture quality. Most of the cameras will be wall mount therefore I am considering Nuvico CD-S21N Easy View cameras as they come with wall mount option and the price is also within my budget. Any suggestions and reviews shall be appreciated.

    Geovision Resolution

Thanks for your response. The software is Geo 8.2 and the operating system is Windows XP pro. I would like to know which resolution should we opt for 1. when installing Geo 8.2 software. 2. Panel resolution in configuration settings after installing the software. 3. My Monitor is LG 20 " Wide screen LCD with DVI connector, and what should be the Screen resolution for Windows. As the cameras are analog and 480 Tvl, I think if the output resolution is too high the picture might be poor and too pixlated. This is my opinion and I am not expert on it. That is why I would greatly appreciate any expert advice on settings. Thank you. Jay

    Geovision Resolution

I recently installed a 8 cam system with GV-1120 card. I am using flat panel LCD monitor with DVI connector. The cameras are 480 tvl color dome. The picture quality is not impressive. Could anybody please explain how to select the resolution from the beginning i.e. installation of Geovision software. I think I made a wrong selection of the resolution while installing. I selected the one that was recommended. I did not select 800*600. If I have to change the resolution, how should I do it now ?
