Hi! It has been a long time since my last visit in the forum. I found VPON cards over the internet and I got in touch with them. I am going to order samples for testing them in my facilities. What I am asking is your opinion about linux based cards and if the VPON cards are worth the time and the money to spend.

I am using a VPON dvr linux based card (dvr on dom). I tried to write data in a remote HDD. I hooked the HDD unit to a PC (WIN XP based) and i downloaded a NFS server software in order to allow the linux machine to see ny remote HDD. I did the settings as they are discribed to mount the HDD drive to the NFS server, All the above went well. I was able to write data (video) to the remote HDD but I am not able to read this drive eventhough i gave rights to the client (Linux PC) to read and write. Do I have to set up an FTP or UDP server also to be able to read the data? I tried to access the data through the Linux pc and through the web page but I couldn't. Any help with NFS settings and VPON cards will be appreciated. I will even invite you all to Greece for holidays!!!!

Thank you for your help. I finally got an answer from the supplier. He told me that I cannot see a HDD that way and i have to use a NAS storage device from the supported list that he gave me. I cannot understand this!!! basically if the HDD is shared from an NFS server and the machines are into the same network I have to be able to read and write to this drive. I don't thin it matters a lot that the othe machine is windows based because the file transfer and the rights are setted to the NFS server. Any opinions? exept if I have to formate this disk only to a system that is fully understood from the linux machine. Do you know how can I have a disk that is understood both from linux and XP? Is NFS a file system too (like NTFS)

I don't know yet. Here in Greece the things don't run fast. For example I was the one who said the distributor here, that this product is on sales from the rapidos. I am still expecting the price but i will buy it anyway. I will find somebody to resell it. I will let you know for the results.

Have you ever seen the usb 4ch DVR of RapidOS? I am expecting this from the local supplier and i want your opinion. There is an advertisement fro this product in AS magazine (Sep 05). That is how i found it. Please take a look at this: http://www.rapidos.com.tw/htm/products-USB-DVR-Box-RW-KTS04AU.htm

koutsikos posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi I am new in this forum. I am having anykeeper 2016 dvr card. I am using 2.50 version of the programm. Enen though i have no problems connecting it through network or phone line I cannot receive from the remote computer any sound. Is that normal? if not what i do wrong? -
I will make a post with the dwnloads I use for Kodikom and any keeper software. You have to know that these are sites from Chinese companies with copies from the original. To do that I have to return to the office from my trip this will take about 3~4 days.

Network sound by anykeeper dvr cards

We have the same card. I have no problem with the sound locally but my problem is the sound trough a network connection (LAN). I cannot make it play. -
Kodikom dvr cards are working properly with intel chipset. That is why I suggested the GB motherboard. I have frients who use MB with VIA and they experience some problems. You people are right when you say that in istallations with more than one conexant chip you don't have the proper results. I curently use the 4.11 version myself (for the fakes) but I have some ideas about how can we make the 4.12 version to work. I don't have so much time now for tests but if somebody wants to copy the 4.12 CD to the hard drive C and after that use the update tool of the software plase be my guest and try it. I will be very happy to hear the results. Also I don't think that kodikom Cards are the best solution to any installation but in some occasions it is just the right card.

Maybe I can help you a little more. what software version do you use for kodicom applications. Be aware that they are many fakes in the market and the prices vary from card to card. I experienced both original and fake cards insallations. please do me a favor : It happens that i am new in this forum and I have a problem with an anykeeper card. please see my thread

I had the same problem with one of the kodicom dvr cards i have installed after some research I came up with the conclusion that it may be some harware compatibilities but i cannot be sure. I used GA 8IPE 1000G motherboard instead of the Soltec motherboard and everything went well. I can't tell you the exact problem because I haven't searched that very deep. I hope I helped you.
