  1. Sorry for the delay in responding. The power works fine to it as it sounds like an alarm noise. I read somewhere that if you unplug and plug back in that the machine will do this to alert people that it had been unplugged. This is what happens: 1) Plug in power 2) start to hear something spinning up (presume HD) 3) Loud noise comes out - like a very loud 'beep' - its constant and never stops 4) none of the front-panel lights up I'll give you suggestions a go, but if anyone else has had a similar experience please let me know Thanks Ade
  2. Hi there I've had my AVTech AVC 792 for about 7 months now. I went into the garage (where its located) to discover it making a loud alarm noise but it wasn't working. On the front panel is the blue power icon but also a red alarm icon. I have unplugged and plugged back in, read the instructions, pressed all the buttons but cannot get it to start. It shows nothing on a monitor if one is plugged in. Searched all over online and can't find anything. Any ideas, suggestions etc ? Thanks Ade
  3. I've been looking at the AverMedia DVRs as I think that they can use Java also for the viewer. Might be worth looking into
  4. I'd be very interested in these results. I've narrowed it down to AV Tech because of the Macs we use, so let us know how you get on! Ade
  5. HI there I'm Mac-based too and have been researching for about two days now. Still not sure if AvTech kit can be accessed via the Mac, but I've tried out the following both on my Mac as well as my iphone and found it works (just not sure if its included in the AVTech DVRs): can't post a link but search for Videoinsight If I find out anything else I'll let you know and if you can do the same and post here I'd appreciate it Ade

    AVTech and VideoInsight

Thanks for this. I'd not seen the Mac app before. I'm trying to find someone who has an AVTech box that I can hook up to to test before purchasing - any ideas of any public ones? I'd like to try this app on the iPhone also, but suspect that I might have to commission an actual app to be created for it to work (I have contacts that can do this). Thanks for the suggestion though
  7. Hi there I've been doing some research into DVRs to run a small (4 camera) setup at home. I've been wanting it to be networkable and also preferably so that I can view via my Mac and also my iPhone. I tried out the VideoInsight demo on their site which was really good and worked on my phone but I couldn't find out anywhere if the software for web access for the AVTech machines is VideoInsight and was hoping someone here might know? Thanks in advance Ade
