Hello all I know I should have said hi but I forgot, I got carried away with posting. I have been in the CCTV / Access industry for 20 years now and I find I am always learning, especially these days with video over twisted pair, IP, LAN, WAN, Global WAN, Wireless etc etc. Its getting that complicated I am thinking of a career change lol. The only thing that keeps me in it is the fact that it is future proof and sadly the way the world has gone, every one wants security. Ohh, and it pays the mortgage If I can help anyone with technical issues then I will try. I have a host of manuals on PDF that may be useful to someone.

DM are very secretive about technical issues. it took me about 3 years to get a back door password for a sprite 2 that they said had to be returned to be repaired. I wouldn't believe a word the over priced shower say any more to be honest. I sent scorpion a PDF of DM's technical bulletin for changing hard drives. it may be useful in your case. It covers more than just the DS2 good luck http://scorpiontheater.com/Documents/DM_HDD_BOOKLET_Issue_3.zip

Is it not the same as their smartviewer software. It is what they use on the 5162 model Its at this address http://www.samsungsecurity.com/support/s_download.asp then here Support -> Download -> "DVR" -> "Standalone" -> SHR-5162.

You can ghost the master and just insert the second drive as a non partitioned slave. You can set the storage and event parameters in the DS2 menus so it uses both drives for storage. If you PM me your email address I have a DM Technical sheet for changing the hard drives in these units. I can't upload it as it is a 2mb PDF file

can you ping the device. Some of these devices you can access through internet explorer. ie h**p://192.168.0.200 You could try that. Also is the device and your router on the same IP range. most of these dvr's don't use DHCP so you manually have to assign an IP to the DVR. just a thought, good luck

I have used that on a few now. 4 channel, 16 channel etc. They stopped doing the 4 channel some years ago. It may only work then for the ones with the DVT37 mainboard. DM say the password is written into one of the flash ROM's and not on the hard drive. That is why it has to go back lol Don't quote me on this but I have been told several times that if you phone DM after 5.30 you get transferred to their tech department in the States and they are more helpful. I have hyperterminal'd and telnetted into these things so there must be a command to "lose" the passwords

I wouldn't post this normally but the greedy bast*rds at DM, well it wasn't actually DM, it was Gardiners as DM wanted it back through an agent, wanted £450 to sort this password thing out. Enough rambling, after many phone calls and searching we found it, The backdoor password is 613126 If you only have a 4 channel sprite 2 then use the remote control to input the password. I smell a rip off over this
