Vendoma vs. Geovision and the Who's Who in the Biz

A little birdie told me Sungjin and GS split. Vicon and Sunjin split some time ago. I'm just glad I'm not in SoCal. -
Vendoma vs. Geovision and the Who's Who in the Biz
paprotec replied to cctvexpert's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
So they have a board level SDK? That is difficult to come by. Most manufactures won’t give that up. Are you sure they didn’t just change the driver names? I'm not a geovision fan, so I agree with you there. BUT, i must say that no DVR company is perfect. All have their shortcomings. Everyone will eventually use Embedded XP. BUT, it is extremely difficult to configure. Once you get your image right… lock it in. We recently had someone at an Asian Security Exhibit. If the Chinese products that were exhibited at the show ever hit the US DVR market, the whole industry would change. The problem is.... the majority don't support English. So we wait. I think Vendoma does a lot in NY. Don’t see them many other places. However, they do very well at marketing their product. -
Sunell is a good product. Have a few software things that have to be worked out. I am somewhat confused. What is meant by "not under their control"? Last time I checked, Sunell is full control of their product.

We have not found a good PC DVR with audio. Something always goes wrong. Not synced with video or sounds terrible.

Silicor looks like they are using the comart audio card with some NVR software. The software looks very familiar to me. I wonder...... are they the software writers?

Vendoma vs. Geovision and the Who's Who in the Biz
paprotec replied to cctvexpert's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Vendoma isn't doing anything new. There are a handful of companies in the US using SDK's. Most go to India to have the software changed for them. How many USA based programmers does Vendoma have? SDK’s always build off of a base. If the bases moves or changes, so will the SDK have to move or change. It is a constant game of leap frog. As a side note…. We found the chance i boards lacking. It seemed a little hard for the end user. -
Lets be honest. Geo, Comart and most other dvr boards are overpriced. How much does it really cost for the board? Just the board. Maybe $50 USD. We pay for the software. I think Comart is still to much to do your own system. Plus, I don't think its a good base to start from.

I'm looking for people to join with me in a new venture. I have a group who can write a new DVR software package from the ground up. I am sick of not having any control.

Can not minimize -
I was at Sunell and Kodicom in December. Kodicom is good, but very expesive. Sunell is solid, very good price. Sunell is still working on their USA approvals. Don't know about the 3rd.

4 IP Cameras at 30 fps each - package
paprotec replied to Tim's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I agree with Pat. I know the softsite32 software and its not all that great. I have look at others and softsite32 is about 3rd on my list. There is a nice hybrid system that works with IP cameras and dvr boards being released in April. -
This unit comes out of S. Korea. I sold about 30 of them a year ago. Then this company out of Ohio started selling them for 399.00 I'm glad now. We had a 60% HD failure rate, and the other 40% never worked right. The system is ok if you don't mind putting a new HD in every 6 months. We now have about 15 in stock i'd love to dump.

I don't think LCDs burn in as much, if at all.

Plasma don't do well if the same image is on the screen for more than 5 or 6 hours.

The only thing you will face is burn in. I would not use Plasma. We put several in, then ripped them out.

Professional surveillance software for Linux
paprotec replied to JayPorter's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Most boards could be run under Linux. The problem is the driver and software. All of the software that we have looked at has bugs or doesn't work. -

paprotec replied to cctv_down_under's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
The board is Integral. But the company in question may be using an SDK. -
