Sounded like a good thing to me too. Seriously though. Does speco use quality ccd, lenses, and materials in their cameras. Is it worth investing in this one. I have read mixed reviews of the other cameras in this product line. JMANOFNVS: As a rep. do you know about the materials used? I'm curious and want to know how this is likely to compare to other cameras up to and including Extreme, Sanyo, Pelco, etc.

Best type of crimpable BNC connector?
Gesualdo replied to RichTJ99's topic in General Digital Discussion
wasn't there something about the photo's too. If not the same person then closely related maybe???? -
Rory, what is your concern with the split lens? Leaking? I haven't seen anything else with split lenses like it on any other site. or with external focus and variable focus, or access to dipswitches.

I was hoping that someone else had already been the guinea pig and I could benefit from their experience. Oh well. Don't want to waste money on inferior stuff. May get it to test. Will be awhile though. Gesualdo

I figured that but was wondering if there was something other than the plates for next to doors that was weather proof and less obtrusive and obvious. By the way nice picture. Is that the latest in beach wear?

How about for outdoor? Either at the camera(dome) or seperate.

Rotate a view by 90 degrees
Gesualdo replied to cctv_down_under's topic in General Digital Discussion
You may need to switch to a computer monitor, if possible, and yes I know image issues, but there are LCD models that you can rotate the plane of the monitor itself from horizontal to verticle. -
Are the premade Siamese cables usually RG59 or RCA style?
-
Ah, I see... so it is what I want then. As long as it works. As a DIY kind of person it's right up my alley. I will order it then. Guess Radio Shack isn't going to have anything better then. Saves me a trip. Trying to get the best performance possible from the equipment on a budget. (No excess stuff lying around, besides me) Shucks, No freebies. Thanks for the info

Thanks Jasper I read the link. But you guys were talking about splicing the cable. I was looking at the cable from spytown posted by Rory, guess it is thin. Unless he has other premade stuff I'll look elsewhere for the cables. only need the same 75' that SF1964 did. Thanks

Did I say something wrong? Sorry! I would like to know about the monitors though

Some of the single and 4 channel dvr's from avtech, Intellix, Ganz, and nuvico, and GE have S-video capabilities on a quick check. I agree the closer the monitor resolution to the camera resolution he better the picture should be but, since the 15" LCD tv monitors have interlaced multisync picture quality shouldn't they also produce the better quality pictures as well. This is the premise behind lcd tv technology for non hi-def tv's improving picture quality under low def standards. CRT resolution is 450 lines of resolution at best if I remember correctly. Anything above that is wasted or am I totally off base here. Running several DVR's at high res on split screen should give both pictures clearity at the higher resolution. Yes/ No?

OK, So I'm still confused. S video gives you better picture but using LCD is bad then using a lcd tv monitor from the s video out of the dvr to the monitor will still produce pixelization due to resolution? Correct? Help!! I was looking at walmart at this magnavox monitor http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4123078 thought it would be a good cheap solution.

Somewhere on the board I read something about this DVR but can't find it. what is the opinions and remarks regarding this dvr. Thanks Gesualdo

Yes, but if you test to the spec provided and/or a uniform set of specs you are comparing evenly and comparing manufactures accuracy in reporting. I agree, also test under the various lighting conditions that the camera is supposably designed for and comment on that accuracy. I recommend taking a look at one, or several of the reviews on the sight and see. a uniform lens irising test pattern is used and the general design elements discussed as well as the tester's recommendation for use in several areas. They do compare economy cameras to economy cameras and dlr's to dlr's sometimes a one to one comparison or with an older version. Mostly, I was recommending a uniform way of reporting the results and opinions for the various cameras.

I still think the idea is a good one. DataAve started the idea and gave a review on Sept 5 in this forum and I suggested the format to be used in the reviews similar to those at the dpreview site and it seemed to end there. http://www.cctvforum.com/about2845.html each moderator could have a column or do reviews of equipment using a common format to ease the load and get other opinions and present it on this forum as a topic. either weekly or monthy, however.

Would it be possible to embed a pinhole camera in the actual cement block with only the hole showing to apear that you have given up on putting a camera there at all and not bother to fix it yet and still have the security needed? It's work, and not sure the camera would take it, but you might even get the thief. Maybe place a dummy camera nearby to distract them. A dumb idea I know.

I have been told that speco is not a good DVR

Hey, can anyone tell me if the nuvico NVCC-SVD cameras are any good? http://nuvico.com/product_images/NVCC-SVD.pdf Please give reviews or information on them or similar products. Can it come with a fixed 8 mm lens and IR? If you carry it please PM me a price. Thanks, Gesualdo

What does anyone know about this camera and what kind of prices are out there?

I LOVE this idea If anyone wants to get into this and set up a regular forum look at this website of digital camera reviews as a jumping off point for layout and format. http://www.dpreview.com/

What's the difference between a bad camera and a good camera
Gesualdo replied to calvis's topic in Security Cameras
I thought so ... just trying to clearify and understand.
