What's the difference between a bad camera and a good camera
Gesualdo replied to calvis's topic in Security Cameras
[for example there are various versions of a Sony Exview chip and the budget cameras will use the cheaper one] Now, How am I supposed to recognise the higher quality chipsets from the specs. I am presuming that the brand names will use the lower quality chipsets on their cheaper cameras to lower their costs as well. Or am I wrong here? -
Anyone familiar with this dvr or company? http://www.dvr-surveillance-cameras.com/detail.aspx?ID=415

Has anyone heard of Securetek or used/sell any of their products. What is your opinion if you have?
-
Thanks for all the information, just made the decision that much harder.

Which do you think is the better for stability, features, and price? G4-4000 or AVR-400

Who makes the DC-795WC-AV camera? I don't seam to find a manufacturer or spec sheets for this thing. Anyone have any ideas or comments? http://www.personalarms.com/surveillance/dc795.htm
-
The high price and specs made me think it was high end. that's why I asked who the manufacturer was in the beginning. now that it's OEM and unless it has a better warantee elsewere I aint getting it. also the disparity in prices between the two outfits makes me wonder
-
FYI I found out this camera is: OEM camera temp rating -4F to 122F 840nm IR LED's most cases 90 day warranty

this camera seems to be poping up all over the internet. WITHOUT the typo's. Has anyone looked at it yet other than to say Crayola made it. just a couple of links. http://www.securityresourcesinc.com/product_info.php?cPath=70_26&products_id=1067&osCsid=1ccf77065cbb37b1b883ccefe8cd998c http://www.securitycamerasandmore.com/dc-795wc-av-dn.html Just trying to find out more information on it.

thought about it. If I were running power and camera lines fresh I would definitely do it, but right now looking at quick and easy, emphasis on easy.

What is the best wire for an exterior installation. I've been recommended cat 5 and siamese wire. The longest distance is 80 ft. with some exposed wire. is there a specific weatherproof wire I need or just make sure the connections are weatherproof. Gesualdo
-
Yeah, it's a home installation. not high risk. The neighbors had someone break into their garage and just want to keep an eye on things. Everything is locked up tight already and figured if they don't realize it's a camera line then they are less likely to pull it. Not that they are to bright around here.

I have power going to a shed that I use as a workshop overhead and was looking to run the cable the same way. It's pretty high up so I'm not too worried about anyone cutting it. should I go wireless for this camera instead? Thanks for the info. Gesualdo

Tell me what you think. Has anyone used their products? they do thermal and ir cameras. http://www.cantronic.com/company_profile.html http://www.cantronic.com/IR_Dome.html Thanks

I'm Looking at several cameras and wondering if they are weatherproof. They don't specifically say it but, they have heaters to -20 or -40 degrees F. I was looking at the CVC-7445EXTP and the LEDome. Anyone know for sure. gesualdo

Thanks Rory, THat's what I wanted to know also. Can you PM some prices or dealers in NY on the 46zn or 49zn models or should I order direct from wizkid
-
Rory, I was looking to use them under an eave. Surface mounted with the worst water coming from an overspray from a annual pressure washing of the walls.
-
Can you recommend a dome with those specs?
-
Since I am trying to secure a driveway with a streetlight about 40 feet on the opposite side of the building from where I'm pointing the camera and only part of the drive is in the light do I need an IR illuminator or not? Total overall distance from the light to the drive is 75-80 ft to the near edge. Can you recommend a camera either way. Day and night observation.
-
I'll take that as a definitive YES. Thanks for the suggestions on cameras also.
-
Sorry, missed that one!?!
